God, we thank You for the establishment of the new Religious Liberty Commission. We pray this commission and its members would protect the freedoms of every believer in America.

On Thursday, during an event celebrating the National Day of Prayer, President Trump established a Religious Liberty Commission, announcing that his administration is “bringing religion back to our country.”

From The Daily Wire. President Trump quipped about “forgetting” the separation of church and state and declared “we’re bringing religion back to our country” during a National Day of Prayer event on Thursday.

“They said separation of church and state, they told me. I said, let’s forget about that for one time. We said, really? Separation? Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I’m not sure,” Trump remarked during the Rose Garden ceremony.

“But whether there’s separation or not, you guys are in the White House where you should be, and you’re representing our country,” Trump told faith leaders at the event, adding, “We’re bringing religion back to our country.”

Trump signed an executive order, first reported by The Daily Wire, establishing the Religious Liberty Commission to be composed of church clergy, legal experts, and other Trump allies tasked with identifying “threats to domestic religious liberty,” such as attacks on houses of worship and First Amendment violations, and recommending protective actions. …

The Religious Liberty Commission is expected to hold its first formal meeting within the next several weeks, with the commission set to “terminate on July 4, 2026, which marks the 250th anniversary of American Independence, unless extended by the President.”

We prayed about this new commission on May’s edition of First Friday. You watch that webcast in the embedded player below.

Well, let’s start with the Ten Commandments or the Koran or the teachings of Buddha.
When there are individuals that worship money as their gods, and have no compassion for others, or ethics- yet tell everyone that we should have a Religious Liberty Commission; it is hard to believe in their sincerity behind this baseless act.
According to the basis of Christianity, we as followers of God / whoever it maybe, should as humans treat others as we want to be treated, open our hearts to those less fortunate, the sick, the hungry and those in need. Not have a glorified day of recognition with no meaning behind it! How about making it meaningful with actions behind the words?
Volunteer to do a day of caring, help the poor, sick and injured.
Let’s get the Peace Corps back but in a different way…to help those in this country that need it! Especially since FEMA relief, MEALS on Wheels, HEADSTART Meals were cut, Care for The ELDERLY and the US VA Benefits – Let’s not be hypocrites, Let’s put Actions Behind those Words! Let’s be living our Lives as True Christians – followers of CHRiST
AMEN

Your beliefs should be affecting your life and your morals. There is no such thing as a separation of church and state. The affairs of the church should be affecting the state or we are in compromise, neither hot or cold, you know how that goes. Compromise has been added to the church all along throughout history. Constantine took away passover and compromised Easter. What is the great commission? What was God’s commission back in Genesis? Look and study the original language. Our language has even changed some meanings. Root compromise out of the church. Stand for something or you will fall for anything. Look up frog in the pot story.

Lord protect us from “threats to domestic religious liberty,”. For 1200 years the spirit of Islam has attempted to dominate our world, God’s world, through incredible violence. Please protect our nation from any religion that attempts to convert others through physical or psychological violence.

The term “separation of church and state” is not in the Constitution. It came from Thomas Jefferson. He never fought religion in the public square. The Constitution protects religion FROM the government. Those who want to ban religious life from the public square are not constitutional. This will not eliminate the Catholic Church or other groups. It will only help to stop what the government was trying to do to the religious element in our society.

What religion specifically is he talking about? The Catholic one? The 3000 plus denominations? The mega church prosperity gospel? Paula White will determine now what man-made doctrines to implement?
No thank you to any. I follow the Law of Moses and our Messiah Yeshua – not man made doctrines.

I grew up for the first 35+ years in Catholic Church and am very thankful for the foundation that my parents formed, but there came a time I left my religion and became a Christ follower. It is not about religion, but about the person we follow, love and desire to be transformed with the help of His Spirit. He has given us HIs Word, may we hold fast to it’s truths and the power it has in our lives.

Since this is about “religion”, I encourage some restraint in our celebration of “religious liberty”. It equalizes, in essence, all religions, but does not define what a religion is. The dangerous assumption that most are making here is that it is talking about protection of the liberty of the Christian religion. I contend that many are assuming that Christians should receive a favored status, not equality. At the root of the issue is the fact that even within the Trump administration we have several “religions” represented, so that cannot be the case. Equality of religion is not truly possible, because they are mutually exclusive and in competition with one another – eg. Islam demands to be the “one and only” at threat of death.
Religion is “man creating a god in his own image”, and that can be true even within the “Christian religion”. Even within the institution/organization we call church, there are many who do not truly know YHVH through His Son Yeshua, who follow a mix of Biblical “truth” and man’s doctrines and traditions. This is syncretism, a “mix” prohibited in YHVH’s instructions. The Uncreated YHVH created man in His own image, and must be worshipped as He truly is, and as He has commanded us to worship Him. Yeshua did not die to form a new religion. The true “church” is a spiritual entity which cannot be “housed” in buildings, because it IS a building according to I Peter 2:5 – “you yourselves, as living stones, are being built into a spiritual house”, and the chief corner stone is Yeshua.
We must recognize that as a spiritual entity, the ekklesia exists in a different realm – it is not of the natural realm, nor can it be defined by the natural realm. It simply operates within the natural realm – we are not of the world, but we are in the world. When we desire “protection”, “favored status”, or even “equality” as a “religion”, we are attempting to preempt what Yeshua said we would experience as His people. “I have given them Your Word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.”  John 17:14 We are promised tribulation.
Whatever the intention of those involved in establishment and operation of this commission, it is possible that it sets us up for the “one world religion” that is coming in this “end of days” scenario in the natural realm.

He is not setting up a one-world religion; he is being Constitutional in allowing religion to be present in our government, like it was many years ago.

Darlene, to be fair, I did not presume to know anyone’s intentions in my comment (ie. whatever the intentions), nor did I say he was setting up a one-world religion. I said this could be setting us up for it. That is different.
I’m still not sure how you define religion, and that is the crux of the issue. Religion has always been present in our government – most notably humanism, and now Hindu, Islam, etc. – maybe even Satanism. The problem is that Christian influence has been deemed impermissible, under the guise of “separation of church and state”. But if our bill of rights truly upholds “freedom of religion”, does it truly include all? If not, which ones are excluded?

It’s simple – Christianity is NOT a religion – it is in ONE word – RELATIONSHIP – with the Son of God Christ Jesus. Let “them” have their liberty but we will stay true to the Bible.

Thank You, LORD, for the returning of our nation to You. May there be more learning and awareness of the true meaning of separation of religion and government – that it’s intent is there be no decree or forcing of establishment of only 1 religion by the government, but that each individual would be free to worship as he/she desires.
