“It seems as though the Great State of Utah, ‌which I won each time, and handily, is going to the All Mail In Ballot format ⁠of Colorado, and the rest, that always head LEFT, as soon as ⁠the move is made,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He added, “We should stop ‌Utah from doing this.”

Trump, who himself voted by mail earlier ‌this year, has ‌repeatedly taken ⁠issue with mail-in ballots.

Utah is one of a small number of states that conducts elections primarily through the mail. State officials note that more than 90% of Utah voters already choose to cast their ballots this way, and supporters argue the system increases participation while maintaining election security. Critics, however, contend that mail voting presents opportunities for fraud and weakens voter confidence, even when safeguards are in place.

The president has made election integrity a major priority during his second term. Earlier this year, he signed an executive order aimed at strengthening election procedures nationwide, including efforts to verify voter eligibility and ensure that only American citizens participate in federal elections. Utah’s Republican Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson pushed back against Trump’s criticism, defending the state’s system and pointing to its high voter participation rates. State Democrats likewise rejected any suggestion that federal officials should intervene in Utah’s election procedures.

Supporters of mail voting argue that it makes participation easier for voters and can increase turnout. Opponents maintain that in-person voting with stronger identification requirements offers greater transparency and public confidence.
