Trump and Vance Warn America as Violent Riots Sweep France
Violent riots have swept across France, prompting President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance to warn about the consequences of mass immigration. As French authorities struggle to restore order, both leaders are urging Americans to consider what the unrest could mean for their own country.
Post a prayer for your state!
The violence has included widespread looting, clashes with police, and the destruction of historic buildings. French officials have responded with mass arrests, increased police deployments, and localized curfews.
From The Epoch Times:
“The migrants have taken over France,” Trump wrote on Oct. 19 in a Truth Social post, responding to a weekend of unrest. “They must CLOSE THE BORDERS, FAST!”
On Oct. 18, Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social that included a Fox News video of the riots that the “immigration of people from an entirely different world, people with hatred in their hearts, has shattered that once great country. Close your Borders and take control, before it is too late!”
Vance also wrote in a statement on X over the weekend that mass migration was to blame for the chaos, saying “western liberals imported the third world into France and other countries in the name of diversity and compassion.”
French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to hold those responsible accountable. Following nearly 2,400 arrests, Macron condemned the violence in a televised address, attributing the destruction to far-left extremist groups and criminals. His explanation differs from Trump’s and Vance’s emphasis on immigration.
French authorities deployed approximately 60,000 police officers and other security personnel on October 17, but Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez acknowledged that the deployment was insufficient to contain the unrest. Officials have since considered additional measures, including localized curfews and a possible state of emergency.
Meanwhile, the violence has prompted warnings about similar political movements in the United States.
During Monday’s broadcast of Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Jamie Metzl, an Atlantic Council senior fellow and former Clinton administration National Security Council official, argued that the demonstrations had been overtaken by extremists.
Metzl, who identifies as a Democrat, also drew a connection between the unrest in France and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
“I’m a Democrat, and the far left in our country, the DSA, is really wanting to have this same future. So, while I do support mainstream Democrats, I believe the Democratic Party needs to go aggressively against our far left. Because if you like what you’re seeing in France, then you should support these DSA candidates who are, essentially, calling for the same thing here.”
Metzl’s comments reflect concerns about the direction of far-left political movements, although his comparison between the DSA and the French rioters remains his own assessment.
For Americans watching these events unfold, the unrest raises important questions about immigration, national security, political extremism, and the responsibility of governments to maintain public order.
As France confronts this crisis, let’s pray for peace and stability, protection for innocent civilians, wisdom for French and American leaders, and the restoration of law and order. May our leaders govern with justice and discernment, and may those promoting violence turn away from destruction.
