Like Dr. Frankenstein, who dared to create life through pseudoscience and dangerous ingenuity, the adherents of transgenderism and transhumanism seek to engage in lofty experiments which turn their bodies into something that never existed before. Instead of accepting the design of the Almighty Creator God, they want to transcend identity, gender and any boundary that makes them human.

“I’m transcending the border of my body to connect with a greater creator collectivity. I’m transcending white or black to just be a person. I’m transcending flesh to be a consciousness. I’m transcending Earth to be part of the galaxy. I’m transcending limitations to be unlimited.”

This quote from transhumanist and transgender activist Martine Rothblatt sums up the goal of both tech enthusiasts and gender revolutionaries who believe the human body can be deconstructed, manipulated, and re-created.

Transhumanism and Transgenderism Share Common Goals  

The overlapping goals of transhumanism and transgenderism are not hard to perceive when one breaks down their tenets of faith. Transhumanism is a “philosophy that advocates for the use of technology in order to overcome our biological limitations and to transform the human condition.” This can be accomplished through nanotechnology, biotechnology, cybernetics, gene editing, brain implants, pharmaceuticals and the latest digital inventions.

In comparison, transgenderism is an ideology whereby a person believes that his/her gender identity is not congruent with the sex he/she was assigned at birth. To alleviate this obstacle, many transgender men and women will allow their bodies to be reshaped through hormone therapy, or elect to have body parts removed and/or reconstructed. They may also opt for the implantation of various prosthetics. In the future, however, many hope to use genetic therapies and artificial intelligence to break away from their sexual identity because in the realm of transgenderism, the boundaries between the human sexes do not exist.

The frameworks of both transhumanism and transgenderism center around the idea that human beings must evolve beyond the image that God created for men and women. In this way, they see themselves as rebels who can create their own bodies and destinies. In contrast, Christianity teaches that God designed the human body to be either male or female. Its transformation, however, doesn’t involve body parts or sexual revolutions. Instead, it’s the Holy Spirit that helps humans overcome their limitations.

Martine Rothblatt exemplifies what it means to be both transhuman and transgender. As the co-founder of Sirius XM radio and the owner of a thriving biotech company, he has been recognized as one of the most powerful and highest paid LGBTQ leaders in the tech industry.

At age 40 Rothblatt underwent sex reassignment surgery and then changed his legal name to Martine Aliana Rothblatt (formerly Martin). He attracted national attention when he became the first person to create a legal document supporting the idea that feelings of gender and body dysphoria are normal. This would later become the International Bill of Gender Rights. Additionally, he drafted the Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights for the United Nations.

Transhumanism and Transgenderism as Religion

For Rothblatt, being transgender and transhuman is a religious practice. This is why he founded a movement known as Terasem. Visitors to the website are greeted with these words: “Welcome to the Terasem Faith! We are a transreligion that believes we can live joyfully forever if we build ‘mindfiles’ for ourselves. We insist on respecting diversity without sacrificing unity, as well as pouring maximum resources into cyberconsciousness software, geoethical nanotechnology and space settlement.” The core beliefs of Terasem include: “Life is purposeful. Death is optional. God is technological. Love is essential.”

In Rothblatt’s book From Transgender to Transhuman, (formerly called The Apartheid of Sex: A Manifesto on the Freedom of Gender) he compares the boundaries between males and females to South African apartheid, asserting that dividing males and females is destructive. Thus, a new unity is needed in order to change the way the world looks at sex and gender.

In the book’s preface, he states, “I came to realize that choosing one’s gender is merely an important subset of choosing one’s form…I came to this realization by understanding that 21^st century software made it technologically possible to separate our minds from our bodies.”

In the biotech industry, Rothblatt has been instrumental in the rise and propagation of transgenderism and transhumanism. He sits on the board of trustees at the Mayo Clinic and was mentored by William Sims Bainbridge, the director of sociology at the National Science Foundation, as well as NSF’s human cyborg program. This mentorship likely inspired Rothblatt to eventually create a robot named Bina48 which is a replica of his wife. He has high hopes of installing Bina’s consciousness into this robot so it can live perpetually in cyberspace. Foreseeing this possibility, he published Virtually Human, a manifesto that professes the rights of future cyber-humans who will possess the uploaded thoughts, dreams and memories of people who once lived in flesh-covered human bodies. By cloning the human mind and breaking down thoughts and emotions into computer code, he aspires to create digital consciousness that will allow humans to become immortal.

What does God say about transgenderism and transhumanism?

As a Christian, we should be concerned about the unhinged, anti-human nature of both transhumanism and transgenderism. Both ideologies seek to destroy the foundations of creation set forth by God Almighty. The Word is clear when it declares, Male and female he created them, Genesis 5:2. In Matthew 19:4 Jesus says, Have you not read that he who created them from beginning made them male and female. Furthermore, Genesis 1:27 states, God created man in his own image.

It’s important that we join together in intercession and declare that that God has made humans in His image and not in the warped image of technology, or those who want to abolish the identities of males and females.

Transgenderism is championed by transhumanists

Rothblatt is just one example of a transhumanist who praises the transgender lifestyle, but there are many others. In fact, most transhumanists wholeheartedly support transgenderism. Former U.S. presidential candidate and transhumanist Zoltan Istvan says, “It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that the LGBT movement and transhumanism have a lot in common…After all, a desire to be free to alter, express and control one’s sexual preference and identity sounds like a transhumanist concept…if you look closely, the two movements—especially some of their major philosophies—are practically different sides of the same coin, and each is poised to gain strength from one another in the future as radical technologies transform the species.”

Istvan believes that “technology will strip away the boundaries of humanity” and insists that one day, “men will be able to give birth with implanted uteri.” He also imagines a world where “parents may choose to have designer babies without certain sex organs.”

Istvan, who is an atheist, laments the fact that the U.S. Congress is “basically made up of all religious politicians, some whose faiths derive from texts that forbid anything like LGBT practices or transhumanism.” This, he believes, holds transhumanism back from accomplishing its goals of immortality and even possessing godlike powers.

Shockingly, Istvan declares, “Frankly, I could see humans in the future stopping physical sex altogether as cranial implant technology finds precisely the right means to stimulate erogenous zones in the brain…Real sex will probably not be able to match direct and scientifically targeted stimulation of our minds. Such actions may lead to a society where male and female traits disappear as pleasure becomes ‘on-demand,’ and gene therapy is able to combine the most functional parts of both genders into one entity. Not surprisingly, some institutions like marriage may end up going the way of the dinosaurs.”

The ideas of influencers like Istvan and Rothblatt continue to inspire globalists like Klaus Schwab, who sing the praises of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Schwab boasts, “The Fourth Industrial Revolution will change not only what we do, but also who we are. It will affect our identity and all the issues associated with it.”

Schwab and the leaders of Silicon Valley emphasize that the revolutions occurring in biotechnology and artificial intelligence are redefining what it means to be human. As a result, moral and ethical boundaries are becoming redefined as well. This new humanity, they claim, will experience greater freedoms and protections never experienced before. In the transhumanist and transgender world, this could include liberation from reproduction, liberation from disease and mortality, or perhaps liberation from the body itself.

Transhumanism and transgenderism will not liberate humanity

As Christians we know this rebellious liberation is nothing more than chains– in fact, it’s a noose tightening around the necks of humanity. Freedom isn’t found in the eradication of boundaries, or the transformation of the physical human body. Instead, it’s found in a completely different supernatural form known as the Holy Spirit. It’s true that our bodies are mortal so they will suffer from disease, pain and eventually an earthly death.  But when humans receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, a spectacular new creation is born that cannot come from a mindset, a science lab, or a surgeon’s scalpel. It can only come from God, and he alone holds this power to grant humans an immortal life.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord, 2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV.

Pray about transgender and transhumanism

Lord Jesus, a new Tower of Babel is being built through the bricks of the transhumanism and transgenderism agenda. Help us topple it through prayer, fasting and action. Help our legislators and members of the tech community to stand up against radical ideologies that want to strip the human out of humanity.
