A lie detector is a machine that uses sensors and physiological responses to detect if someone is telling a lie. This can be a great tool when used properly, but the truth is that God has given all Christians something much better to detect deception and falsehoods. In this world, we are constantly bombarded by the lies of Big Media, but the Holy Spirit is the best tool we have to identify and counter them effectively.

Cash Cards for Illegal Immigrants

As usual, the lies from the Left this week were plentiful and troubling. Not surprisingly, the leftist Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, is behind a scheme that aims to obstruct federal law enforcement officials from cracking down on illegal immigration. Recently, she announced her plan “to provide direct cash assistance to people who have been affected by the Trump administration’s sweeping immigration raids.” Bass explained at a news conference, “The aid will be distributed using cash cards with a ‘couple hundred’ dollars on them.”

Leftist Immigration Groups Will Distribute Cards

Bass contends that the money will not come from “city coffers,” but from “philanthropic partners.” The cards “will be distributed by immigrant rights groups such as the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA). This supposed “human rights group” has already propagated anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles, as well as “No Kings” protests throughout the country. It received “tens of millions of dollars in government grants during the Biden Administration.” Ironically, the Department of Homeland Security awarded $450,000 in grants for “citizenship education and training” between October 2021 and September 2024 to this radical group that seeks to undermine immigration authorities. Since then, the DHS has terminated further funding.

Defying Immigration Laws through Sanctuary Cities

Bass claims these cash cards will provide much-needed financial assistance to those who can no longer leave their homes or go to work for fear of being snatched up by ICE. To further her cause, Bass signed an executive order directing all city departments to “bolster protocols and training on how to comply with the city’s sanctuary policy which states that city employees and city property may not be used to ‘investigate, cite, arrest, hold, transfer, or detain any person’ for the purpose of immigration enforcement, except for serious crimes.”

It doesn’t take a lie detector machine to figure this one out. The Left wants Americans to believe that immigration laws should not be enforced because they are “inhumane,” when the truth is that it’s more inhumane to allow criminals and gang members to continue putting legal U.S. citizens in danger. Giving cash cards to people who have entered the country illegally will incentivize breaking the law, while propping up radical groups that seek to erase our nation’s borders.

DHS Secretary Calls Out the Left

The second lie told by the Left this week involves Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, who “turned the tables” on the Left by using their own history against them. NBC host Kristen Welker interviewed  DHS Secretary Noem on Meet the Press and cited Democrats’ concerns that Florida’s “Alligator Alcatraz” facility, which currently holds 900 people but has the capacity to hold thousands, is overcrowded and unsanitary. Quickly, Noem responded that the facility meets “the highest levels of what the federal government requires for detention facilities.”

Trying to put Noem in a corner, the NBC host fired back, “Democrats have called them cages, though.” DHS Secretary Noem exposed this falsehood in a matter of seconds by saying, “I wish they would have said that back during the Biden administration and back when Democrats were in the White House, and they were piling people on top of each other on cement floors and literally didn’t have two feet to move. They never did that. That’s why this politics has to end.”

Noem added, “We took cameras in there. We will take cameras in there and show people what these facilities look like. Because if you compare them to what happened under the Biden Administration and under the Obama Administration, these centers are at the highest levels and they’re even higher than what our federal prison standards are, or local often are.”

Democrats such as Debbie Wasserman Schultz compared the facility to an “internment camp.” Republicans who visited the facility called the accusations “overblown.” Florida Senator Blaise Ingoglia (R) stated that the center was “clean, air-conditioned, and well-kept.”

Border Czar Sets the Record Straight

Border czar Tom Homan criticized Democrats for “overlooking migrant detention conditions under President Joe Biden and failing to criticize them until President Trump took office.” He pointed out, “You didn’t see them complaining about, under the Biden administration, people being held in a Border Patrol parking lot surrounded by a fence and sweltering heat, they ignored four years of open borders, historic migrant deaths, historic Americans dying from fentanyl, historic numbers of women and children being sex-trafficked.”

The Left wants Americans to believe they care about immigrants, but only when it serves their political purposes. In fact, the current immigration crisis is a direct result of purposeful negligence that occurred at the hands of liberal lawmakers and leaders who trampled on immigration laws designed to prevent this situation from happening. Nice try, Dems, but this lie has been easily detected.

Goodbye to Rainbow Crosswalks

The third lie told by the Left this week revolves around Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. Leftist outlets are saying that Duffy is “out for revenge” because he sent a letter to all 50 state governors urging them to “remove distractions” such as rainbow crosswalks from public roads. “Roads are for safety, not political messages or artwork,” Duffy wrote.

In his letter, Duffy asked governors to participate in the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Arterials for Everyone through Reliable Operations and Distraction-Reducing Strategies, or SAFE ROADS, initiative. The goal is to keep distractions to a minimum, so drivers can focus on getting to their destinations in an orderly and safe way.

The Left Feels “Demonized”

The idea of removing rainbow crosswalks set off the Left very quickly. They accused the Trump administration of being “laser-focused on demonizing the LGBTQ community.” They contend that the new standards are being implemented “under the guise of road hazards,” because Trump and his administration want to make them “roadkill.” The Left insists, “This isn’t about safety. This is about control. About erasure. About rainbow crosswalks being visible, vibrant, and gay.”

Transportation Secretary Duffy posted on X, “Taxpayers expect their dollars to fund safe streets, not rainbow crosswalks. Political banners have no place on public roads. I’m reminding recipients of [the U.S. Department of Transportation’s] roadway funding that it’s limited to features advancing safety, and nothing else. It’s that simple.”

Democratic Senator Carlos Guillermo Smith responded, “That’s a totally ridiculous and absurd excuse for what is very clearly an attempt to erase LGBTQ identities and just be anti queer.”

Transportation Secretary Duffy is asking that “within 60 days,” each state’s department of transportation “develop a list of arterial segments, including intersections, with the highest safety, operational, or compliance concerns that will be addressed by the end of Fiscal Year 2026 (from Oct. 1, 2025, to Sept. 30, 2026).”

Distraction or not, the existence of rainbow crosswalks is certainly a political message that encourages people to be proud of the LGBTQ lifestyle. Should taxpayers be expected to fund messages they know are sinful? Do these rainbow crosswalks force people to focus on a political view or the road?

The truth is that roadways are no place for political statements that emphasize sexual preferences. The roads are for driving, not LGBTQ rhetoric. Duffy’s letter asking governors to remove “distracting” crosswalks isn’t about demonizing the LGBTQ community. It’s about creating safe roads where drivers aren’t forced to contemplate a sinful lifestyle when they encounter a roadway or crosswalk.

Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit is our greatest lie detector. When the Left-wing media presents a particular narrative, we must pray about its validity, while consulting the truth of Your Word. We humbly ask you to help us separate fact from fiction and keep in step with the spirit’s leading.
