In the midst of raging storms, put your faith in the Lord and He will give you His refuge.

“The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.”

“Even as darkness fell and the waters kept rising, emergency officials in Houston continued fielding calls overnight from flood-stranded Texans. Thousands have been rescued so far, many are still waiting to picked up.

“The Coast Guard is continuing to receive upwards of 1,000 calls per hour,” US Coast Guard Lt. Mike Hart said Monday. “Today alone, the Coast Guard has rescued over 3,000 people. That includes both air rescues and rescues using boats.”

Since midnight Sunday, more than 2,300 calls have poured in to the Houston Fire Department, including 400 calls for rescue Monday afternoon, Houston officials said. Four people have died as a result of the catastrophic storm….

“They’re making it difficult for us to rescue them,” he said. “You have people rushing the boat. Everyone wants to get in at the same time. They’re panicking. Water is rising.”

Because of the hostile responses, the Cajun Navy has been forced to halt some rescue attempts, Cain said.

And yet, forecasters say, more rain is coming. Lots more.

President pledges ‘rapid action from Congress’

President Trump said Monday the recovery from Hurricane Harvey will be “a long and difficult road,” but predicted the country would emerge “bigger, better, stronger than ever before.”

Calling the storm a catastrophe in Southeast Texas, the President said, “We see neighbor helping neighbor, friend helping friend and stranger helping stranger. We are one American family. We hurt together, we struggle together and believe me, we endure together.”

The President also said he believes Congress will act fast to provide disaster relief funding to the areas affected by Harvey.

“You’re going to see very rapid action from Congress — certainly from the President,” Trump said….

Latest developments

— About 8,000 people were estimated to be in Houston shelters Monday night, said Houston’s mayor. About 5,000 were expected to be in the Houston Convention Center, he said.

— The Galveston County Office of Emergency Management on Monday issued a mandatory evacuation order for Dickinson, Texas, according to spokeswoman Brittany Viegas. Dickinson is about 172 miles northeast of coastal Rockport. A dramatic photo circulating on the Internet showed residents of an assisted living facility in Dickinson being rescued on Sunday.

— There have been four confirmed storm-related deaths, according to officials. Five other Harris County fatalities are suspected of being storm-related, according to Tricia Bentley, spokeswoman for the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The manners of death will be confirmed this week, she said.

— The average annual rainfall in Houston is 50 inches. The city has seen 25 inches of rain in two days. Another 25 could fall by Saturday….

— Several locales have received 2 feet or more of rain, and forecasters say a reprieve won’t arrive until week’s end at the earliest. By then, rain totals could reach another 2 feet — with isolated instances of 40 to 50 more inches — along the upper Texas coast….

The Pentagon is also identifying resources, including trucks, aircraft and troops, that can be dispatched for hurricane relief if the request comes, defense officials said, and Gov. Greg Abbott has activated the entire Texas National Guard, roughly 12,000 Guardsmen, he said Monday.” (Excerpted from CNN, reporting by Eliott C. McLaughlin.)

Lord, I thank you for raising up people to come to rescue flood victims, We ask you to send more as there is now a mandatory evacuation in effect. Lord, I Praise you that our President has made this a day of National Prayer for Texas and it’s wounded cities. Praise you Lord, I thank you for those spiritual leaders that are in a 40 day fast. Lord, cause our hearts to turn to the God who takes all trials and turns them around for good to those who are in Christ Jesus. Continue to send your ministered into the shelter to sing of your Redeeming Love. Bind the deception and sin that keeps many from knowing you as Savior and Lord, i release them to hear and understand the gospel and repent. Help your church to repent of worldliness so we can be the light we are called to be. We pray for Beaumont that is without water, we pray for those who are in danger of disease. Praise you Lord, even in this storm, you are worthy of our praise. Help your children in Texas to have unshakable faith. In Jesus name, Amen

Lord God, our Heavenly Father, I pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ that have lost all in this devastating flood, that they would not be offended that this has befallen them. I ask a hedge of protection around them, your protection Lord from the enemy of their souls. May they lift up all their concerns to you Lord, with thanksgiving, so that your peace that passes all understanding, would continue to rule in their heart and minds. Jesus said “in this world you will have trials and tribulations, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world” Also “fear not for I am with you, even to the ends of the earth”. May they contain a hope in them that is visible, so that they would be ask regarding this great hope and have opportunity to lead many into Your Kingdom. Make this horrendously crooked road straight before them dear Lord, and please bless the works of their hands. In Jesus name, Amen.

In such great loss, may the hearts of everyone in the country be turned to the Lord God who is ready and able to save, to restore, to encourage, to redeem, to lift up from pits of despair, to bind up the wounded and hurting, to bring unity, to make a way to joy for those grieving……Oh God, help us to trust in you more and more through our Savior Jesus Christ. May revival come like a flood to the church and the churched, the unchurched, the unbeliever, the agnostic, the foolish and the wise…..have mercy on us through you endless love. Amen

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You that You promised not to destroy the earth by flood. Although there are some floods that great flood of the Noah’s Ark was a one time situation. We ask that when the enemy comes in like a flood that You would lift up a standard against him. Thanks for saving me when I was a little girl in those floods I had experienced several times I am able not only have compassion but empathy. I touch and agree with all the people praying and especially those in the midst of this disaster that You will vinidicate and recover all that was lost. Especially protect them from any who would harm them because they are vulernable. I ask for many Good Samaritans to arise and take their posts in Jesus name I pray and touch and agree. Amen.

Pray: Those who trusted in Mega Churches, now see their anonymous unconnected non-unified existence opposes the home churches Jesus created, and will repent and return to a Christian community that is united, and everyone knows each other. With a real church, disasters may become a thing of the past. Acts 20:19-20

19 serving the Lord with all lowliness of mind, and with tears, and with trials which befell me by the plots of the Jews;

20 how I shrank not from declaring unto you anything that was profitable, and teaching you publicly, and from house to house,

All praise & glory to You, our Lord God! You make the rain fall and by Your hand it will be stopped.
I pray Your presence and peace will be known as You surround all those experiencing the trauma of Hurricane Harvey–the residents, the rescue workers, the government leaders. Bring the right helpers and the needed help.
You give what we need to be spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically victorious in You!
Lord, move hearts to pray and help our brothers and sisters. Let us be Your heart and hands.
In the only name of Jesus Christ, Amen

We invoke kingdom authority over these storms and say “peace! be still!” Lord, may Your anointing rest upon the rescuers as they minister to the needs of the people. We invoke Your shalom to reign in the shelters. May God arise upon His people, bringing hope and healing to all. May they bring You great honor by their conduct and peace amidst this fiery trial. We plead the blood protection of Jesus over all affected by this storm and we bind down the enemy from terrorizing or harming any person in any way. We pray for rapid healing and recovery of homes and property. May all this work together for our good and for the glory of our Lord and Savior. Amen
