I Prayed have prayed
Lord Jesus, lawlessness abounds. Strengthen our law enforcement officers and staff. Give your people a passion to pray for police officers everywhere.
Reading Time: 6 minutes

We believe that the Lord is stirring His people to pray for the police right now. Two writers submitted ideas on this topic within a few days of each other. We include them both here so that you can understand and pray about this important topic.

From IFA Contributing Writer, Gloria Robles:

I dreamed I was in some type of award show. It wasn’t musical, but might have been for acting because they received awards similar to an Oscar. Each person who went up there during their speech went on a political tirade (which seems to be the “popular” thing to do these days). The last recipients were a married couple, a man and a woman, who are prominently known for their Democratic political activism. The husband stayed quiet while the wife began to verbally bash President Trump and call for refusal to accept him as president. She began inciting people in the audience and who were watching to revolt. They began to be in an uproar. She was basically screaming; she was full of such anger. The husband just stood there silent, almost incohesive. She turned to him and said, “Give me the flag.” He took out a flag that was folded, when she unfolded it I quickly realized this to be the blue lives matter flag. However, there was a white X drawn throughout the center like it had been crossed out. Though I don’t recall what she told the audience, she shook that flag in her hand, clenching it in anger. My dream ended there.

I share this dream because I had a similar dream before Ahmaud Arbery’s murder, where I saw the same couple inciting violence in the black community. I felt such guilt that I never shared that dream when  just a few weeks later we saw the fallout of the murder of George Floyd. I just don’t want to see it again. Maybe the Lord shared this as a warning to be in prayer. The blue lives matter flag was clear, and we know there is a clear agenda to discredit, weaken, and defund the police at hand. So I’m praying against rising violence against law enforcement and any false narrative or false agenda to be exposed. Intercessor, can you please pray over this with me? Maybe the Lord may reveal something to you. If so, please share in the comments.

From Remco Brommet, The Deeper Life Blog.

The U.S. had barely begun the process of re-opening the economy as the COVID-19 pandemic seemed to let up when a wave of racial unrest, riots, and looting exploded through the lethal actions of an aggressive police officer made instantly public.  Prophets had warned that the fear unleashed through the pandemic would be followed by chaos and hatred. Wave upon wave of protests ranging from peaceful calls for “social justice” to looting, arson, assault, death, and armed occupation of city centers sought to target law enforcement in general as racist, violent, and worthy of defunding and dismantling. In several cities elected officials agreed and turned against their police departments. Minneapolis, Austin, Seattle, Los Angeles, Portland, and several others carried out their threat and slashed their law enforcement budgets. A mass exodus of personnel and senior leadership in those cities, followed by a predictable spike in crime.

This is a dangerous trend. The human world, darkened in its understanding, does not recognize that this is the wolf trying to convince the sheep that the sheepdogs are no good and should be gotten rid of. The world does not recognize that the sweeping generalizations about “the police” and the numbers and narratives that are being touted are very inaccurate and deceptive. This is not the work of flesh and blood, but the work of the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). Jesus warned us in Matthew 24:12 that in the last days lawlessness will abound, and Paul builds on that in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 – that this spirit of lawlessness will culminate in the coming of the “man of lawlessness,” which we take to mean the Antichrist. Law enforcement is the hand of restraint against lawlessness. As such they are an arm of the authorities God has put in place, according to Romans 13:1-6, and ministers of God, whether they have personal knowledge of Him or not. And the enemy is trying his hardest to get rid of them to pave the way for his Antichrist.

I have had the privilege of serving three law enforcement agencies in two different states as a chaplain for fifteen years, and I’ve seen the good, bad, and the ugly – and especially the human side – of policing. I’ve often reminded officers that they are ministers of God as encouragement that when they take their oath to serve and protect our communities seriously, His favor will rest on them.

Out of my own experience with the human side of law enforcement, I would like to take this opportunity to urge you to pray for our police departments and offer some thoughts to help you pray with insight. This is partly to fulfill a promise I made a while ago in a personal note of encouragement I sent to twenty police chiefs, superintendents, commissioners, and sheriffs in some of the most beleaguered cities and counties. Many took the time to write back and reaffirmed that the prayers of God’s people are needed now more than ever.

  1. Pray for courage. There is widespread fear among police officers, not just of losing their lives, but of doing their job. Recent public outcries against police use of force, even when legitimate, have caused firings and prosecution of police officers without due process. Many now fear that they can be prosecuted for doing their job. That is demoralizing and adds to their sense of danger.
  1. Pray for protection. This year alone, 27 officers were shot to death in the line of duty and an unknown number injured by attacks during protests. Many an officer has told me on a ride-along that he just wants to go home to his family at night. For twelve long hours, he does not know where danger lurks or if he will end his watch on a stretcher, in a body bag, or alive and well driving his cruiser back to the station. Even a routine traffic stop can result in his death. Not to mention the danger of being exposed to the coronavirus, which has claimed the lives of more than 100 officers nationwide so far. The same police captain I mentioned earlier also said that the inevitable outcome of the growing calls to defund and dismantle the police is that criminals will feel empowered. A few days after he said that, unprecedented waves of violence rocked cities like Atlanta, New York, Chicago, and Minneapolis. Pray that God releases special forces of angels to protect our officers and our community from the armed and dangerous who will rush in to take control in the power vacuum that occurs when law enforcement is forced to step aside. And to give grace and peace to law enforcement families who want to see their husbands, wives, daddies, and mommies come home alive.
  2. Pray for revival in our police departments. Our police officers’ courage and perseverance in the face of so much danger, anger, and hatred can only come from personal faith in God and the knowledge that He sees them as His servants. Pray that the pressure they are under will ignite a desire in their hearts to know Him. Pray for revival in our police departments and their families.
  3. Pray for God’s hand of intervention in these areas:
  • Restraint against the violence of criminals directed at the police and the innocent in our community.
  • Restraint against the growing tendency of officers to put in for retirement or just walk off the job, creating critically low staffing levels to handle calls for service.
  • Restraint against initiatives to defund and dismantle police departments by people who have little or no knowledge of policing or the complexities of career crime, gang activity, drug trafficking, human trafficking, domestic violence, traffic control, or mental health and opioid addiction issues.
  • The raising up of a new, determined, courageous crop of recruits to step up and step in with a clear sense of calling to restore law and order.
  • The raising up of community support to help our police departments implement necessary changes and to encourage them in carrying out their duties in an increasingly complex society.
  1. Pray for God’s wisdom for police commanders and their staff. Join me in praying for a visitation from above on each chief, commissioner, superintendent, and sheriff that commands one of the 12,000+ law enforcement agencies in the US – to give them wisdom on how to keep morale up, manage staffing shortages and make changes in the way they respond to the rapidly evolving and complex community needs.

Lawlessness will abound. The man of lawlessness will come. But that does not mean that we should not pray for God’s hand of restraint so the work of the Gospel may continue. And above all, police officers and their command staff are human beings and need Christ, even more so since they put themselves willingly in harm’s way for our safety. Therefore, let us strive in prayer for them!

We are so thankful for our police. I pray daily for protection for each one and their families and will continue to do so, also praying for truth and righteousness for our nation in this election. Praying for people to not be afraid to stand up for truth and for our president for help, wisdom, and victory. The evil is so pervasive, we must continue to pray. I am praying for the spirit of blackmail to be broken off of all who were tricked too, because I think there are many victims living in fear creating a great web of people making wrong choices who would normally not make those choices. Praying daily.I pray for blessings on all our police and their families.

I’ve been praying for Police Officers for years. They helped to save our family during a domestic violence incident involving a gun. People, you can send them a card with an encouraging note, take donuts to the Station. Wear mask & gloves if you go. Also hold up in prayer, Border Patrol, Sheriffs & Deputies, Coast Guard, National Guard, Secret Service & undercover law enforcement! Praying for the fear of the Lord to come to our Nation! If they don’t fear the earthly Law Enforcement, then they need to have an encounter with the Living God!

Heavenly Father,
You promise to give us all the courage and strength we need to live for you and to be victorious in our battles, (Judges 7:1-25, Psalm 113:8).
[Jesus said] “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in Me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world,” John 16:33. Help our law enforcement officers to have hope in You, to overcome all obstacles, and remember their skills of training. Father, lead them to Jesus. Holy Spirit, prepare their hearts for submission to the saving grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Help each one to “Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong,” 1 Cor. 16:13. Lord, Your Word says that if we need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to us. He will not rebuke us for asking, James 1:5. Grant our officers wisdom for every challenge and circumstance they face; grant restraint where it is needed we pray. Be their refuge in times of stress, Ps. 62:1-8. Grant them peace of mind to think clearly and exercise self-control, 1 Peter
1:13. Cover them with Your feathers; shelter them with Your wings. Be their armor and protection, Ps.91:4. Father, may they trust in You for hope and a
future, Jer. 31:17. Help each officer to know that You have great plans for them, plans for good and not disaster, to give them a future and a hope, Jeremiah 29:11. We offer up these prayers for our beloved law enforcement officers, in Jesus name, Amen.

Father many of our officers are husband’s brothers, and fathers, and friends. Set mighty warring angels round and about them. And protect them as they serve us and You. For Your glory. Pray for revival among our hero’s in blue, and their families. Bind the evil one and his imps that they win no battle, confuse confound and conflict them in their tracks. Bind their tonuges, their eyes, their hands and feet. Turn every dart and arrow back upon them multiplied. And drive them to the dry places where they are totally alone. In Jesus Name Amen

So helpful. Thank you for this article. “When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of God will raise a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19. I’m believing as we pray, God will provide new strategies to fight crime and support our brave officers.

This is such unusual timing because i personally attended a Stop the Steal protest Saturday, 12/12/20 at my state capital
Building. (not DC) There were about 25-30 people there, mostly people of faith, a group of Catholics that were praying the rosary circling the capital 7 times for a Jericho march and a small group of Evangelicals who held signs, flags, and prayed. That is considered a rough part of town. I felt the Lord wanted me to attend, so i did, myself, and followed the leadings i got about where to park my car, which was about 1.5 mile from the capital building. as stated I went alone and kept in touch with the Lord as i walked and His directions to me were very clear: Walk in his holiness and righteousness, love and peace, embrace the area with it, smile at passersby and respond In his love to any who approach me. So i did just as He led, i smiled, said hello, Acknowledged and replied to passersby. I Finally reached my destination, found others assembling for the rally, and noticed a man holding a sign that said “Go Home”, we waved to him He waved back and pointed at his sign, but it was all very peaceful. We were there 2 hours praying there were absolutely no issues until suddenly local police arrived asked if we called police, we said no, despite that another local squad car arrived then state police. Same reply to all, we had not called police. The state trooper was very military-like in appearance and attitude, i suddenly felt a spirit, felt like trouble was brewing when he arrived yet it had been completely peaceful the past 2 hours, and still was, the man with his “go home” sign and we had a mutual respect, absolutely were not agitating each other, nothing changed except the police were now there and i sensed a spirit that seemed to either come from the police or passersby who saw us all there. Suddenly God gave me an instant download of why “many” blame the police and He simply instructed me to pray and trust Him which i did. Police dont need to be defunded they need prayer and specific deescalation training. Some people in inner cities and police almost “expect” and in some cases unintentionally instigate trouble and make false declarations in the spirit and selffulling prophecies. It is a complicated issue and the answer is LOVE According to 1 Corinthians
13. Doung exactly what God had me do as i walked through the inner city alone communicating with Him and embracing the area with it. No politician or program can completely fix this issue only God can and He fully intends to! Revival IS coming!!! Within moments of feeling this rush of spirits good and evil and praying as led, The trooper spoke with the man then turned to us and said “he has a right to be here you have a right to be here as long as everyone stays peaceful it’s our American rights. We all knew that! The police began to leave Our group was finished praying so we all started to disperse and i somehow took a wrong turn on the walk back to my car which added another mile, i googled my parking location when i realized that and how far from my car i was, and continued walking through the heart of the “hood” there with the same calm and respect i would have walking anywhere.. As i walked i saw a huge 12’ statue that caught my eye, i thought it was an idol and was going to pray against it, i looked closer and it said “Victory”. Lady Victory. I was shocked! The Lord weighed on my heart that he sent me on a mission there to be a catalyst of walking in the word in spirit and flesh to sow into the city an attitude and spirit of true respect and true Christian love there, and that the Lord would multiply that in days to come in other neighborhoods just like he multiplied the fish and loaves. I am not saying ignore these prophetic dreams, by all means pray as led, i am not saying walk through your inner cities alone like this, i am saying believe, Revival IS coming. I want 4 more years of Trump then 8 of Pence but the truth is no matter who is president Jesus IS Lord. HE is the change we need on every level and walking with him will help US BE change we want to see.

As intercessors we know our battleground is in the heavenlies. Police and other first responders’s battlegrounds are here on earth. Our son is a police officer working in the Crisis Intervention department. They never know absolutely what circumstances they are facing when answering a call or just on patrol. They must be knowledgeable on discerning medical crisis and mental episodes to inform EMTs coming to assist. They see and experience the very worst sides of humanity from every walk of life. God protect their hearts and minds from becoming hardened and distant from God himself and healthy relationships. May the love of God wrap around each and everyone to give peace and security; healing and hope for their future. In Jesus name. Amen

THANK you for helping us understand the scheme of the enemy behind this CRAZY defund the police movement. ONLY the enemy would think of such evil.
I appreciate your Matthew 24:12 quote that states that “ in the last days, lawlessness will abound”, and that law enforcement is the last restraint to lawlessness. So go after the police! Of course! NOW it makes sense. The evil schemes……BUT, when we can CALL OUT the evil schemes in detail, we are empowered even more, in Jesus’ Name, and the enemy HAS TO RETREAT! WOW!!!! VICTORY lies in Jesus Followers prayers of intercession.

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you bless and protect our me and women in law Enforcement. Lord grant them full protection of Your armor against all attacks, whether physical, mental, spiritual, and ideological. Lord I pray and lift up our Law Enforcement and our Military also. I pray You would extend courage, protection wisdom, and revival to them at this time. As lawlessness exists, please keep them safe and also pray that You would encourage and sustain them. As they put their life on the line every day for our safety, let us continue to pray for them. I pray for Your intervention as well, restraint against defunding police and dismantling law enforcement as we so do need them to protect law-abiding citizens. In Jesus name, Amen!

As i prayed & read through Gloria and Remco’s words, Isaiah 41:10 came to mind:
“ New Living Translation:
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”
I also prayed for a shield of protection over every police officer & law enforcement employee. As well as for hearts to turn to the Lord.
And for revival in the entertainment industry. For God’s light to shine bright through those who know Him. And for the restraint of the Holy Spirit in those who would incite hatred & violence toward the police.
May the water of the Word cause their words & plans to fizzle out.

LORD, I praise and thank You for Law and Order. I ask for courage, protection and guidance of the Police on the ground and the Chief who guides them and all in their administration. I ask that they have the discretion to make the right choices in their and our protection. I ask that by Your power, You shall give them victory against the criminals who want to harm them. I ask that You bless them and their families by provision and protection. Open the eyes of their hearts to know You and to stand against evil. I am trusting You for all that is needed. Amen! My son is a police officer, just this morning he said he is tired of his job. He wants to move on to a better job. In the past he has had more problems with other police officers. He promised me when he got the job he would be an honest police officer, he said he would never dishonor me by being a bad cop. Father, in Jesus Powerful Name, I lift up all police officers. LORD, they want to go home to their families. Those police officers that have allowed the badge to corrupt them, I pray that You LORD will speak life into their spirits. Holy Spirit I pray for change to take place in their hearts. They put the lives of other officers in jeopardy. God only You can make these changes. I pray that we as intercessors will pray Your will to be done in the lives of these men and women. I pray that the Christian officers will start some kind of Bible study among the other officers so that all will know You Oh LORD. Will trust You LORD for their safety. In Jesus Name I thank You. Dear Father, please send revival among the police force. Please let them see angels assisting them in doing their job. Please protect them and give them courage. Please raise up an army of new recruits who know and hear Your Word who will be a restraint in this time of lawlessness. Grant unity and loyalty in the police force. Lord, hold back the forces of evil so that the Gospel can go forth. Knock the lawless off their horses, so to speak, and make them encounter You, so that they can repent and turn from their wicked ways. We glorify You that You make it known what we should be praying for at this time…that means You will surely hear and answer our prayers! We are so happy we are on the winning team!

Regarding the dream, the Academy and ABC announced that the Oscars originally scheduled for February 28,2021 was moved to April 25, 2021. The latest date ever since the show was first broadcast in 1953. I’m feeling that this dream is a warning to give us time to intercede against this lawlessness stirred up against the re-election of Donald Trump. Father we bind the strategy of our enemy and lose the strategy of Heaven! Cause chaos and confusion in the enemies camp that they would turn on each other. Give our law enforcement the courage and numbers to stand. Protect and Preserve them, with re-enforcements from heaven. Send strong, angels to protect and give strategies to those who protect us.

The first thing I thought of when I began to read was yes, these police officers lay down their lives daily for the citizens of their towns and cities and are treated terribly. How much more our Savior who did nothing wrong, ever, was treated so horribly, beaten, spit upon, scourged, mocked, and hung on the cross for the unrighteous world so it might be saved, all because He loved us so much.

These men and women lay down their lives daily, whether they are believers or not, they are giving of themselves to help protect. I pray for those sons and daughters of yours would be a witness to their fellow officers and encourage them in the Word that they would have a desire to seek the Lord while He may be found, and they would be strong in the power and might of the Lord—give them grace and mercy and protection Lord Jesus. Thank you. Amen.

Thank you for those excellent prayer points. It’s very helpful to have insight from someone who was a police chaplain. In addition to prayer, we can be asking The Lord for tangible ways to bless them as well. The Spirit must be moving in his people because just last week, what seemed like out of the blue, The Lord put it on my heart to bring prepackaged cocoa, cookies and candy canes with the candy cane gospel attached, to our local station along with a a homemade thank you/Merry Christmas card from my 7 year old. Even as we are driving and pass police cars we can pray blessing and protection over officers and their families.

Lord,
Our police, every person vested by the legislating state with police power and authority, are under the attack of the enemy of our souls. We stand against the strongholds that have caused lawlessness to have it’s way. We stand in the gap for those in the police force and ask for forgiveness for those who are not faithfully keeping their code:
‘to serve the community; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent..’
We pray for a Holy Spirit revival to come upon the Police Department throughout our nation, LORD! Raise up Your laborers into their field of harvest. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen

Jesus, I come before Your judgement seat and pray for our police. I’m asking that You give them holy discernment and wisdom to know how to handle the fear-filled, enemy-driven public. Lord, would You give them visions of the situations that they are called into and speak of the authority You have given them to come against the enemy that’s driving the situation.. Warn them, Lord, if they are not to enter until they get Your prompt and direction; Give them patience and knowledge that ministers to the heart and soul of the people they work with, both police and public. May their testimony of You in their lives minister to other police officers and the public causing a revival among them all. Here in the Northwest, and in California too, the Unjust application of Law/ and Perversion of Justice which the Lord abhors is rampant. Armies of Stolen Grocery Carts are used by the Homeless, and we look the other way. Compassion, is not identical to looking the other way. City Mayors have refused to Prosecute law breakers, and this emboldens more and more Looting, and destruction of property. Stealing the Lively hood of shop keepers by destroying their store, isn’t that the equivalent of enslaving people who have poured their life energy and savings into these stores?

I’m praying for you and the area you speak of. It’s heartbreaking to see the level of evil that has arisen in these cities. I have family that lives in California and I was raised there and it’s difficult to hear and see what evil has done in many areas of the United States. I pray our God will work His perfect will and restore peace and order and remove those in positions of authority that do not do His work and protect the civilians and the innocent in these cities and restore them. I pray that God bless you and your family. Merry Christmas.
