The New World Order is a concept labeled by many as conspiracy theory. Other names include the One World Government, or the Antichrist Beast System. No matter which name one chooses, those who study the Word of God know that a One World system, which will control the entire planet, is described in the book of Revelation.

And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain. And it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of his name (Rev. 13:15-17 ).

The Antichrist’s One World system of governance will force anyone under its authority to pledge their allegiance with complete devotion and worship. Those who refuse will be locked out of society, facing the penalty of death.

While most Christians understand the New World Order is demonic and needs to be resisted at all costs, there are others who think the opposite. In fact, there’s a religious movement known as New Age, whose followers are ready to embrace this coming “harmonic shift.” Also known as the Age of Aquarius, this transformation is necessary to save the planet and will usher in a new physical and spiritual existence for mankind.

Many believe the New Age movement is comprised of fringe meditating gurus who chant mantras and call for world peace. The truth, however, is that all aspects of American society and government, as well as influential global organizations, have been infiltrated by its worldly, unbiblical ideas. From Hollywood movies and government policy, to public education and church practices–the New Age has reeled them in with their deceptive blend of relative, experiential truths. At the rotten core is the creation of a New World Order which will usher in a new age of enlightenment, peace, justice, social equality and planetary consciousness.

Other New Age beliefs include the idea that all living and non-living things are connected as one (monism), and everything in the universe is God (pantheism). Each human has the ability to become a “Christ,” but needs direction from the spirit realm. In order for the world to achieve a state of peace and harmony, however, there must be a New World Order, which includes a universal monetary system; a world authority on food, health, and water; a universal tax; a one world leader; the merging of all religions, but the abolishment of orthodox Christianity and Judaism. While not every New Ager believes all these things, the most prominent leaders of the movement espouse these ideas and have used their influence to weave them bit by bit into the fabric of government and society.

To truly comprehend the breadth of its influence, one must understand the history and belief system of New Agers, and realize how this movement slithered its way into both culture and everyday life. To do this, it’s necessary to go back in time and see where these ideas gained traction.

The historical New Age movement can be traced as far back as the early 1700’s to a Swedish scientist and mystic named Emanuel Swedenborg. At the age of 53, he entered into a spiritual phase where he experienced dreams, visions and new revelations. He claimed he was appointed by God to reveal the spiritual meaning of the Bible. Thereafter, he wrote the Heavenly Doctrine, with the purpose of reforming Christianity. He insisted that he could freely visit heaven and hell, talking to angels, demons, and even people who had crossed over into the afterlife. These interactions were transformed into spiritual principles that could be applied to anyone’s life, regardless of their religious background. Additionally, he asserted that the Second Coming of Jesus had already occurred, but was spiritual rather than physical. After composing many works, he traveled the world, spreading this mystical view of Christianity.

Over 100 years later, another influential New Ager would make her mark on the movement by the name of Helena Blavatsky. Though she called Swedenborg “the greatest among the modern seers,” she criticized his Christian views and insisted that because of this bias, much of what he perceived was inaccurate. In 1875 she founded the Theosophical Society, which taught that all world religions had “common truths” that transcended potential differences, except for orthodox Christianity and Judaism. Proponents of Theosophy believed they could receive guidance from spirit beings or highly evolved men. Known as ascended masters, these beings could be contacted telepathically and provide hidden knowledge and enlightenment. Strongly influenced by Eastern Mysticism, Blavatsky said, “The Christians and scientists must be made to respect their Indian betters. The Wisdom of India, her philosophy and achievement must be made known in Europe and America,” (Golden Book of the Theosophical Society p. 28, 29). One of Theosophy’s biggest goals was to completely eliminate orthodox Christianity. Moreover, the Golden Book further states on p. 63,64 that “Esoteric philosophy has never rejected God in nature, nor Deity as the absolute and abstract being. It only refuses to accept any of the gods of the so-called monotheistic religions, gods created by man in his own image and likeness. A blasphemous and sorry caricature of the ever unknowable.”

Like Swedenborg, Blavatsky taught that eating meat could lead to “clogging” and weighing down “brains and bodies,” and even “hampering and retarding the development of intuition, inner faculties and powers.” Additionally, she de-emphasized the importance of genders, asserting that all souls were originally androgynous and would become that way again. Oddly enough, one of Blavatsky’s occult nicknames was “Jack.” A strong proponent of feminism, she taught that Christianity was oppressive to women. Her book The Secret Doctrine, explores sexuality, karma, planetary transformation, and spiritual evolution. It also elevates Lucifer as the “god of our planet” who is not a villain, but a savior.

Though Blavatsky did much to spread theosophy and its ideals, her greatest protégé,

Alice Bailey, was instrumental in building the foundations for the New Age movement, as well as propagating it within governmental systems such as the United Nations. In her twenty plus books, she emphasized the divinity or “Christ” within each human, while also promoting racial hierarchies and reincarnation. She claimed her revelations were transmitted telepathically by a mysterious figure called Master Djwhal Khul, or the Tibetan.

Like Blavatsky, Bailey opposed orthodox Christianity and Judaism, insisting that when the New World Order institutes a mandatory religion, both will have to be restructured or abolished. Highly motivated to spread her New Age gospel, she set up the Lucis Publishing Company in order to distribute her books, which contain instructions for implementing a New World Order through a united, governing body. Following Blavatsky’s teachings, Bailey elevated Lucifer (Satan) as an evolutionary hero who sacrificed himself for humanity.  She also describes a coming “Christ,” (who is not Jesus Christ) that will unite the world into a new state of consciousness and vibration through a One World religion. This will be done by a process of initiation and is an integral part of what she calls, “The Plan.”

In her book, Problems with Humanity, Chapter 5, Bailey writes, “The day is dawning when all religions will be regarded as emanating from one great spiritual source; all will be seen as unitedly providing the one root out of which the universal world religion will inevitably emerge. Then there will be neither Christian nor heathen, neither Jew nor Gentile, but simply one great body of believers, gathered out of the current religions…they will accept the same truths…they will stand together on the same platform of brotherhood…and will seek unitedly to cooperate with the divine Plan, as it is revealed to them by the spiritual leaders of the race…such a world religion is no idle dream, but something which is definitely forming today.”

As of 2023, the Lucis Trust continues promoting her works, as well as sponsoring meditation groups knowns as Triangles, and operating a school for the occult. Additionally, their organization World Goodwill, works as an NGO with the United Nations to support and promote their global programs such as the Sustainable Goals.

Alice Bailey’s theology may seem fringe, but her ideas on the New World Order have influenced the agendas of global authorities, as well as the educational systems of the world. The UN World Core Curriculum has been infused into America’s Common Core education program and is based off her writings, which emphasize a universal mind to prepare the world for the New Age savior.

By the 1960’s, the ideas of Swedenborg, Blavatsky and Bailey had come full circle as New Age practices and thinking gained popularity. The hippies of the 70’s searched for alternative paths to happiness by rebelling against established religion. In the early 1980’s, a prominent New Ager named Benjamin Creme announced that the New Age Christ (Maitreya) had arrived. Full page ads in newspapers around the world displayed this message: THE CHRIST IS NOW HERE. The world has had enough…of hunger, injustice, war. In answer to our call for help, a world teacher for all humanity, the Christ is now here…he has not yet declared his true status and his location is known only to a few disciples. One of these has announced that soon the Christ will acknowledge his identity…his message will be heard inwardly, telepathically, by all people in their own language. From that time, with his help, we will build a new world.” Later, Creme said Maitreya was living somewhere in London, but at some point, he would reveal himself on a Day of Declaration. Though this “Christ” never appeared, Creme insisted that world-wide transmission meditation would speed his arrival.

A long-time admirer of Bailey and Blavatsky’s work, Creme taught about the need for a worldwide redistribution of resources, as well as the implementation of a single global religion and a cashless society. This would require mass planetary initiations that would change the times and laws. Creme stressed that when the New Age came, a sword of cleavage would be used on anyone who didn’t cooperate. Like Bailey and Blavatsky, Creme elevated Lucifer by declaring he was both a prodigal son and a sacrificial lamb for the earth, who was given authority over its evolution.

As Creme’s message spread, so did the ideas of other New Agers. In 1980, humanistic psychologist Marilyn Ferguson released her book, The Aquarian Conspiracy, which boasted that the New Age movement had infiltrated every level of society. She declared, “There are legions of conspirators. They are in corporations, universities and hospitals, on the faculties of public schools, in factories and doctors’ offices, in state and federal agencies, on city councils and the White House staff, in state legislatures, in volunteer organizations, in virtually all arenas of policy-making in the country.” She stressed that all these conspirators are linked and working for change. Ferguson’s chapter titled Spiritual Adventure quoted from a document called The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus Christ. Written by Levi H. Dowling, it’s a rewording and reinterpretation of the story of Jesus, with strong Theosophical and Spiritualist influences. This new interpretation came to Dowling though his communication with the “universal mind,” and it attempts to fill in the missing years of Jesus’ life. Dowling asserts that Jesus obtained his wisdom from the masters of India, Greece and other countries.

Whether it’s Helena Blavatsky or Marilyn Ferguson, pieces of their “gospel” have made their way into mainstream culture. However, only the surface has been scratched when it comes to the New Age influence in our world. Agendas such as Climate Change, the LGBTQ movement, feminism, abortion, population control and social reform are products of this seed that continues to spread like an invasive weed. As followers of the real Christ–Jesus Christ–we must declare the truth that New Age is really Old Age because its belief systems stem from Satan’s deception of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.  For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil” (Genesis 3:1-5 ESV).

Satan casts doubt on what God said, planting the lie that God is hiding something from Adam and Eve. This feeds into the doctrine of New Agers, who believe they must obtain esoteric (hidden) divine knowledge through occult methods. This blatant falsehood from the garden tells New Agers they can become enlightened like God and create their own rules/laws apart from Him. In this way, they open themselves up to dangerous deceptions such as a “benevolent” New World Order and a One World Religion.

Lord Jesus, those who trust in New Age principles believe they are following the light. They cannot see that you are the true Light of the World. Expose Satan’s plans of darkness so they will not fall into his web of deception.
