Another reason for my discomfort and misery is that I have a guilty conscience, because of what I experienced two decades ago and what I know — things that not that many people have experienced or know, and things that seem to be generally forgotten. These memories bear directly on current events.
The indictment of President Trump is for the crime of “election denialism”, among other alleged crimes. It’s a thought crime. …
It seems that people around President Trump tried to pause the certification process until the votes could be fully verified. It seemed that his lawyers tried a legal theory to delay certification.
Hasn’t a version of all of that happened before in our nation’s history?
Is that not what is supposed to happen when there are charges of problems with the vote? Is that not what we are tasked with doing? Calling a halt and stopping the process until every vote is recounted and verified?
I am having relentless flashbacks to where I was and what I was doing in late 2000, when I was a consultant for Vice President Gore’s campaign for the Presidency.
As I’ve written elsewhere … I was advising from a distance, and looped in, intermittently, to discussions within the campaign that were both public and private, about exactly the same issues that are now apparently criminal offenses even to entertain, let alone to mention in actual words. …
The Gore campaign denied the claimed outcome of the election. The Bush campaign denied the claimed outcome of the election.
Both campaigns, both candidates, denied it up and down; they denied it on podiums, in front of crowds, on television interviews. …
The Bush team astutely denied the claimed election results by inventing the phrase “hanging chad,” and then by popularizing it, to suggest that there was massive ambiguity in the casting of the vote, due to the reality of some unreadable, imperfectly punched paper ballots. The Gore team, for their part, denied the claimed outcome by seeking at one point to count only those counties in Florida that were most supportive of Vice President Gore. Both candidates denied the claimed outcome of the election, all the way up to the Supreme Court.
Both stopped the process until every vote could be checked and rechecked.
Every conversation, public and private, for both campaigns, for both candidates, from the 35 days from the close of Election Day to Dec 12, 2000, the date of the Supreme Court’s decision in Bush v Gore, was about denying the claimed results of the election. …
Why did the two sides fight so hard in 2000? Why did they battle for 35 days after the polls closed? Why go all the way to the highest court in the land? …

An indictment doesn’t mean a person is guilty. That’s what the trial and jury and judge is for! Many innocent people are in jail today also without due process (not being arraigned quickly). The American Constitution says all people are to have a speedy trial, yet some of the January 6th people are in jail for 2 plus years with no trial yet, which is unconstitutional! Seems to me that if Trump’s indictment is legit, which I don’t believe it is, then there should be thousands of people in jail including me. I do believe something went awry in the elections. There was proof that something went wrong and people were jailed for it. So should they all be let out then if the claim is that the election was legit and Trump lost? There is lots of confusion in the camp. The problem is that people don’t understand the Constitution. There was no intent to overthrow anyone, or to reek havoc at the capital. Perhaps the people who may have been paid to disrupt got off. Remember Harris was helping pay to get people out of jail. What about that? It is sad that so many people are deceived and are perishing for lack of knowledge. People have been bamboozled by mainstream media and refuse to hear the truth. I know that many of our prayers are being answered because we see the corruption is coming to light. I bless the Lord for all He is doing because regardless of what happens, He will always look out for His people. His people know His voice and the voice of a stranger they will not follow.
Lord, give us intercessors who will carry the load of praying for our Supreme court justices who are under serious attack and whose lives are at risk, the unsung politicians in the forefront of the battle at the local level and are the ones gaining ground for you, for the hidden Godly leaders in our military who claim that territory for you, for those in our congress who are under attack because they are confronting and pushing back the ‘swamp’ in their investigation of Joe Biden.

This article provides us a very important reminder of prior disputed elections and the bottom line of what’s at stake:
The real issue is supporting our Constitutional right of freedom of speech which includes the right of any citizen to dissent election results and especially including candidates in elections. We can’t afford to let personal likes or dislikes to dismantle this important protection of free speech.
I don’t see how this can be prosecuted, but there does seem to be a real danger he could be found guilty and go to jail. If the judge has any sense of fairness, this should not have gotten this far. But nor should most of the Jan 6 defendants. Pray for God to intercede and our country’s citizens to come to their senses. I fear a real physical split in this country.
President Trump has been charged for having an opinion about the stolen election. We know that there were 2000 mules and many states involved in cheating. It is clear to me that the indictment against Trump is nothing but a deliberate scheme to prevent him from being able to return to office. Why do I believe this? Because of how the leftist news medias including CNN and now Fox News have been very prejudiced against Trump.

As far as I am concerned, Donald Trump IS the elected President and the election was stolen. It was beyond my comprehension that this could happen in America and I was stunned and felt completely betrayed!!! However, upon reflection, I realized that God is in control and this could not have happened if it was not part of His plan. I thought “this must be how Jesus’ Disciples must have felt when he was crucified” – not comparing Mr. Trump to Jesus, just the situation! It is a hard pill to swallow but I KNOW none of this could have happened if it was not what God intended. Our thoughts and plans are not HIS and we don’t really know what He is doing. So I am praying for His Will to be done, praying for the safety and sanity of President Trump, praying for the revival that is happening across our country to continue and maybe one day, we will see what the purpose of this was. Yes, may God’s will be done. But sometimes His will is harsh when He serves out deserving judgment on a people because of their idols and waywardness (see the old testament). We can and must still stand in the gap and pray for His mercies and deliverance, and for people to repent. Perhaps we as His people need to be repenting more and seeking His mercy as we intercede for America and her people.

The attorney general of West Virginia has suggested that the trial should be moved to West Virginia where Trump can get a fair trial. I know that seems impossible but God can make the impossible possible and the improbable certain.

What I think about President Trump’s false indictment is that if Republicans and Christians had stood by him immediately after the RIGGED AND CHEATED 2020 ELECTION, we would not be here today, and he would not be facing this farce! Your article hit the nail on the head. I remember all too well the pressing burden of prayers surrounding the weeks and months before that election in 2000. When the ambiguity came and both were in a contested show down of who would be President, I understood at that time what some of the prayer burden had been about. In 2000, it was set before them to seek the legal recourse allowed in our nation’s bylaws that we may have fair elections decided by the people for the people. I’m concerned about the tone of your comment. Dr. Naomi Wolf is writing about her thoughts on this latest indictment and not really her feelings about President Trump. I read her piece on another site and have recently followed her. I believe she is really maybe what is called a classical Liberal. She was awakened due to the handling of Covid and has written extensively on that matter. She is Jewish by heritage and I’ve heard she’s Messianic but I’m not sure about that. The “majority in power” right now are trying to indict and imprison Trump or anyone who would dare “Challenge” or threaten their power. I learned a lot of what I believe from U of W. college days in the late 80’s. The tactic of silencing all opposition is exactly what I learned about CUBA in College from my Cuban Spanish professor. My prof was a lawyer in Cuba and he fled to the US for political asylum.!!! He and his wife lived that reality!!! He would have been Killed in Cuba for questioning Castro. I was an election Judge in 2008 and 2012. I was ANGRY as this can never happen in America.On the election day all the voters had picture ID’s Later on more people came without any valid ID. They only had a piece of paper with an address on it.They were unqualifed illegal voters. My supervisor allowed them to vote. They were also Illegals who should not be in America. They all voted and this is how Obama was elected. Prayed much in 2021 and 2022 that the congress would straighten out the opportunity for election fraud and that truth would prevail in media and politics. Saw truth gradually revealed. Politicians still did not address obvious frailties I heard in election system, such as overseas tamperabale parts used in voting machines, counting of machines collected in Germany, over-half of stock in company that made machines owned by China starting a month before 2020 election. I thought it ironic, hypocritical, one-sided, forgetful, denying-of-obvious-truth and pulling-the-carpet-over-to-cover-the-stinky-ugly-mess that the same party that accused stealing-the-election in the 2016 presidential election now asserted strongly that the election was the fairest ever when their party’s president won, and were not forward-thinking enough to address the vote problems that they asserted were so in 2016. (As I just wrote this line and was about to declare that the Steele (sp?) dossier was proven bogus in the end years later with stronger and stronger conclusions in recent years that it was invented as known lies in the beginning for its inventors to retain more power, I realized that maybe the combination of thoughts that once the Steele dossier was proved wrong, then the Democrat party had no other ideas about election errors than Russians interfering. But then, that doesn’t make sense. After the 2016 election, there were those who spent the next three years (until covid) questioning that election, alleging Russian collusion, talking about it, writing about it, bringing charges, it was endless – but in 2020 no one could even ask questions about what went on in some states during the election process, not even in the first month or two following the election – let alone for three years? The issue is whether we are all going to sleep while being herded into something similar to “Brave New World”. May God protect and lead us to listen to the teachings He has given – to Christians and to many other expressions of faith as well.

People seem to want to get past the fraud claims in the 2020 election. But since all the judges refused to look at the thousands of pages of evidence, there was never a fair trial. I am convinced that only God can deliver us from this present darkness that we are living under in the USA. I know He is bringing justice.
It’s a complete waste of money & time; but mostly because this indictment is unconstitutional! He has the right to challenge the election. He has the right to assemble & the right to free speech.
