I Prayed have prayed
Lord, there are no perfect people or proposals on the ballot, so guide us in how to vote by Your Word and by Your Spirit!
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Paul and the writer of Hebrews both refer to Scripture as a sword (Ephesians 6:17 and Hebrews 4:12), and we should wield the Word in all our many decisions in life, including when it comes time to vote.

Janet Porter, architect of the Heartbeat Bill, is the show runner of a sitcom called What’s a Girl to Do? and plays herself. After each show some of the cast talk about themes of that episode. After “The Election” (free to watch through November 5), Jannique Stewart says, “Don’t vote R or D, vote B: Biblically.”

We live in a time of rising evil. Unfortunately, there’s a trend for pastors to be vague when it comes to describing that evil. One of the speakers at the Esther Call to the Mall in Washington, D.C., (most speakers didn’t identify themselves) said that a group of pastors was asked if they would address specific sin in the coming year, and only 10% said they would.

The problem is that many public figures are using religious authority and even Scripture itself to promote ideas that are not biblically sound.

California Governor Gavin Newsome put this scripture paraphrase on billboards: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these (Mark 12:31, his translation is unclear). He used the passage to encourage those visiting from states outlawing abortions to get them done in California.

Many churches are waving Black Lives Matter (Marxist) and six-colored rainbow flags in front of their churches, the way many churches flew swastikas in Hitler’s Germany.

Kamala Harris said during the presidential debate that people are immoral for preventing women from aborting their children in cases of rape and incest. Yet, those reasons combined only make up 1.5% of all abortions, and the film The Matter of Life has an interview with a woman who began healing from rape when she decided to keep the child.

As we reported, Pope Francis said, “Every religion is a way to arrive at God,” he’s encouraging priests to bless homosexual unions, and he told a young boy that his father who died an atheist is in Heaven.

In an ever-more-crooked society, we need the Word of God as our plumb line. I’ve written before about the importance of reading through the whole Bible as one of the most important spiritual disciplines.

Here are some issues coming up on ballots that should be directed by the Sword of the Spirit:

Abortion

Abortion will be on the ballot in ten states this year. The Old and New Testament both have much to say about murder. Few in our society would argue it’s good to kill an innocent person, but candidates and propositions that want to enshrine abortion rights believe it’s not murder if we can’t see the child. Thankfully Scripture is also clear about the sanctity of life in the womb, as in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you…”

Sadly, the Republican Party has let down those of us who care about life in the womb.

Pray with Hebrews 4:12 in mind:

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Transgender Issues

Kamala Harris wants taxes to pay for transgender surgeries for prisoners, and New York will decide if parents should have the right to dissuade their children from cutting off healthy body parts.

Harris’ running mate Tim Walz has also pushed for transgender surgeries for minors, and in fact, according to an article IFA posted from the National Pulse, “One of the most troubling policies enacted under Walz’s governorship is Minnesota’s transformation into a safe haven for minors seeking transgender surgeries and hormone treatments.”

Scripture is very clear: …God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them (Genesis 1:27). God only created two genders.

Religious Liberty

In my interview with former communist Héctor Ramírez he prayed that our upcoming election will bring a government that will protect the freedom to share the Gospel. He gave a brief history of the long march of Marxism through the institutions.

As Cindy Jacobs said during the Esther Call to the Mall, “Marxism is fallen. It declares there is no god, but there is one God!”

Scripture is almost entirely a story of God’s people turning from Him, how that saddens him, and how He longs for us to return.

Here’s a passage my bride and fellow IFA contributing writer Joyce and I pray each night at 7:14: …if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

In terms of supporting religious liberty in the face of the Marxist push against it, IFA posted an article by PJ Media: “In May 2018, Harris launched an inquisition into the Roman Catholic faith of two of Trump’s judicial nominees — because they were members of the Roman Catholic fraternal order, the Knights of Columbus.”

On the other hand, in our Record and Policy Comparison Prayer Guide we report that the Trump Administration: “Advocated for the repeal of the Johnson Amendment, and did not enforce during his term. Established religious freedom watchdogs in all administration departments. Opposed the pro-LGBTQ Equality Act.”

Many More Issues

This list could go on and on, but you should do your own research and pray about how to vote up and down and on both sides of your ballot.

Former Governor Mike Huckabee estimates 40 million Christians in America don’t plan to vote. Since the last two elections were decided by less than 200,000 votes, if a fraction of those Christians would seek the Lord and His Word about candidates and issues, this nation could turn around in a heartbeat.

If more Christians stay out of politics the rapture may as well have already happened.

What are the issues you’re concerned with in your state, and what are the scriptures you’re using to inform your vote?

We need to vote for Donald Trump. He is anointed for such a time as this and we need to be continually praying for him and his family for protection.

Indeed GOD has chosen him for a time as this. Believers/Christians should please go and vote for life and godliness. No sitting on the fence. Jettison all the unfounded dislike of Donald Trump fuelled by fake news. Do not give room to abortionists (muderers of babies), destroyers of marriage, gender pollutants and agents of darkness.

Politicians do not get it that alot of citizens to not listen and tune out all of it. Then thelast couple of weeks listen to the lies and believe them. Usually if the person is popular in their social
Circles. Pray that politicians
Address these citizens.

Heavenly Father, in Jesus name I pray that you would lead the 40 million Christian voters that haven’t been voting to rise up and vote Biblical values to honor You.

Rich, I share your deep concern. If the church does not rise up and take our civic responsibilities seriously and vote Biblically, then we deserve whatever consequences result. Sad to say, but true – there is always collateral damage. The difficult thing for me to stomach is that the innocent suffer along with the guilty – especially our children – as they have over the tenure of this current administration. This statement does not in any way express doubt in God’s justice and righteousness. He is holy, righteous and completely just. But even better He is merciful and gracious – He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve, or we would have already been destroyed. I pray we do not take His longsuffering as an excuse to remain in sin and apathy, but that it will drive us to our knees in repentance, and then to our feet to act righteously in obedience.
