We prayed over the 2024 presidential election for years, hammering Heaven with petitions and intercession. Even now, many intercessors are praying daily for the Trump administration. However, as we pray for the federal government, it can be easy to forget that the states need our prayers as well.

Since President Trump’s inauguration, many states have fallen in line with the current administration, working to protect our rights and advance an America-first agenda. Other states have stood in direct opposition to the President, working overtime to challenge and fight him in every way possible. And, of course, some states have their own issues they are working on, wholly divorced from the Trump administration. With so much going on in D.C., let’s not forget to intercede for the 50 states that form our nation and the unique problems they face.

Here’s five state stories you might have missed and how you can be praying for them.

Colorado Is Pushing to Take Trans Kids From Their Parents

Colorado is currently considering a bill that would cause parents to lose custody rights if they do not affirm the transgender identities of their children. In response, the Department of Education reminded the state that “Children do not belong to the government. They belong to parents.” From The Daily Signal:

The Colorado House of Representatives passed a bill April 6 that would remove kids from parents’ custody for behaviors such as “misgendering” and “deadnaming” a transgender-identifying child. The bill has yet to progress in the Colorado Senate.

HB 1312 defines “coercive control” as including “deadnaming, misgendering, or threatening to publish material related to an individual’s gender-affirming health care services.”

“A court shall consider reports of coercive control when determining the allocation of parental responsibilities in accordance with the best interests of the child,” the summary adds.

Pray for Colorado to do the right thing and protect parental rights, and pray that the trans ideology would lose its hold on this state.

Idaho Protects Speech and School Choice

Idaho Governor Brad Little recently signed two bills to protect free speech for college students in the state and to make school choice programs available. From CBN:

The first bill that Little recently signed protects the First Amendment rights of students for the state’s public universities.

HB 240 or “The Protecting Campus Free Speech in Higher Education Act” prohibits higher education institutions from establishing “free speech zones” on campus and restricting speech outside those zones.

In late February, Little signed House Bill 93 into law, also known as the “Parental Choice Tax Credit” bill, which now makes available school choice programs for the first time in the state’s history.

The bill allocates $50 million to expand school choice across the state through a $5,000 tax credit for families, including families that homeschool, to cover education expenses such as tuition, supplies, and tutors, and up to $7,500 for special needs students.

Thank God for the passage of these two bills, and pray that other states would follow Idaho’s bold example!

Georgia Senator Accused of Ethics Violation

U.S. Democratic Senator from Georgia Raphael Warnock is being accused of an ethics violation. The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust has filed a complaint, asking the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics to investigate Senator Warnock over not disclosing housing from his church. From The Center Square:

The complaint says Warnock moved into a $989,000 luxury home in Georgia provided to him by Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church, where the senator is pastor. Before Warnock moved into the residence, he was receiving a $7,400 monthly housing allowance from the church.

“Since moving into the luxury home, Sen. Warnock has not included any information about being provided housing on his financial disclosures,” the complaint said. “In addition to the undisclosed housing, he has reported receiving an annual income from the church just under the maximum outside earned income limit, for instance $31,815.12 in 2023.”

Pray for honesty and integrity in our elected officials, and pray that all wrongdoing would be exposed.

Wisconsin Investigates Clerk Over Election Handling

Wisconsin has experienced issues in its recent elections, ranging from uncounted ballots to a shortage of ballots on Election Day, leading officials to to open an investigation into Madison clerk Maribeth Witzel-Behl, who recently resigned from her position. From Just the News:

The two most populous cities in Wisconsin are under scrutiny over problems that occurred in the last two elections. Both the state capital of Madison and Wisconsin’s largest city, Milwaukee, have experienced election issues ranging from uncounted absentee ballots to a shortage of ballots on Election Day, as officials seek to investigate the respective causes.

Witzel-Behl resigned from her position, which the mayor announced last week, after she failed to count 193 absentee ballots in the November election and didn’t inform the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) until Dec. 18. The results of the election were certified on Nov. 29. The 193 ballots were found in two batches, the first on Nov. 12 and the second on Dec. 3.

Pray for election integrity in Wisconsin and beyond, and pray that all back actors would be found out, removed, and unable to impact our elections.

Migrant Illinois Kept From ICE Accused of Murder After Jail Release

Illinois is one of several states directly challenging the President, as Governor JB Pritzker promised to “stand in the way” of the Trump administration’s deportation efforts following the inauguration. Recently, the Department of Justice has painted it as an example of harmful sanctuary policies, citing a criminal migrant the state protected from ICE who was arrested for homicide only weeks after being released from jail. From The Center Square:

“In January 2025, federal officials issued a detainer request for an alien who was being held in Cook County jail on sexual assault of a minor charges,” the DOJ said. “Pursuant to Cook County’s restrictions, law enforcement officers did not respond to the detainer request … Following the alien’s release from local jail, he was arrested and charged with homicide just 17 days later.”

Pray for an end to pointless sanctuary policies that only endanger America citizens, and pray for God to strengthen the Trump administration as it works to protect us.
