On Monday, Disney announced that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” would return following a brief suspension. Despite Disney’s forgiveness, however, the Sinclair Broadcast Group has announced it won’t air the show on its ABC affiliate stations.

From the New York Post:
Sinclair Broadcast Group revealed that it won’t air “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on its ABC affiliate stations– despite Disney’s decision to bring back the late-night talk show beginning Tuesday.
“Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!‘ across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming,” Sinclair, which has the nation’s largest number of the network’s affiliate stations, posted on X on Monday.
“Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return,” the group announced.
Kimmel’s show was initially pulled last week over comments he made about Charlie Kirk. Disney called his comments, such as insisting that Kirk’s killer was part of the “MAGA gang,” “ill-timed and thus insensitive,” clarifying in a statement that they suspended the show in order “to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country.”
Meanwhile, Sinclair initially demanded that Kimmel issue a “direct apology” to Kirk’s family and donate to Turning Point USA.
Although Sinclair has the largest number of the network’s affiliate stations, it’s decision does not completely doom Kimmel’s show. However, it is possible that other groups make similar decisions. If Nexstar were to take a similar approach, for example, it and Sinclair could block Kimmel’s show for many Americans, as the two’s affiliate stations reportedly make up a quarter of ABC’s reach to households.
Let’s pray for our culture, and let’s pray for an end to the mockery of death, assassination, and Charlie Kirk on television!
