Israel has been a punching bag for years.
Enemies seek to capture the moral high ground by besmirching the nation’s reputation.
Six of the more current lies circulating among legacy and social media are listed below.

Lie 1: Israel is planning to “occupy” Gaza.
Israel’s recent move to take control of Gaza in order to oust Hamas and release all living hostages has sparked widespread concern, especially at the United Nations.
That Israel may intend to hold Gaza indefinitely — despite Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s express disavowal of such — is part of the alarm being rung by many media and governmental voices. America’s reluctance to speak against this plan is wagging the same tongues.
Israel’s plan for Gaza City is to separate Hamas operatives from civilians over a two-month period. It is designed to push Hamas toward a true ceasefire, but has been reported as an escalation. But Israel halted some of its actions to enable aid to reach the needy.
This lie is predicated upon the biggest lie of all (see Lie Six below), that Israel is occupying Palestinian land.

Lie 2: Shocked by Hamas Hostage Video, Israelis Want a Ceasefire.
In early August, the world was shocked to see a skeletal Israeli hostage, Evyatar David, on a Hamas-issued video being forced to dig his own grave.
Outrage ensued, but the major paper in the U.S. city most populated by Jewish people chose to focus not on the hostage who has been held since Oct. 7, 2023, but on a select Israeli reaction to the hostage video.
The New York Times ran its own video highlighting a gathering in Tel Aviv and wrote, “The circulation of videos created by Hamas showing Israeli hostages living in dire conditions incited families to protest in Tel Aviv on Saturday to demand a cease-fire and the return of their loved ones.”
A 35-year former employee, Yaakov Ort, posted on his Facebook page, “This is an appalling twisting of the facts, and mindful, heartless concealment of the truth: Rather than running a photo of hostage Evyatar David being forced to dig his own grave by Hamas terrorists, and writing about the actual reaction of million of Israelis to seeing it, the foreign desk and photo desk ran a photo of a relative handful of protestors in Tel Aviv.”
A NYT spokesperson said the editors had published a different story and illustration of David’s current physical state, but declined to comment on Ort’s comments.
Lie 3: Israel is starving Gazans.
Sadly, the NYT is also responsible for mainstreaming another lie related to a photo of a starving-looking Palestinian boy. In a photo that ran in late July with an article about the food shortages in Gaza, the NYT implied the child’s physical condition stemmed from Israeli blockades on food distribution.
As the world discovered not long after, the boy was afflicted with a range of illnesses, none of which could be laid on Israel.
The NYT buried an apology for its shoddy reporting and featuring of the child just a week before it prominently featured the video described above, which deliberately excluded the starving image of the Israeli hostage.

Oliver Melnick of Shalom In Messiah concurs, “Is it possible that Hamas, finding itself in such a predicament, is frantically looking for its next opportunity to garner global empathy? How many hostages are still alive? Tragically, just a handful, and Hamas knows that once the hostages are released (dead or alive), there will be nothing stopping Israel from eradicating the rest of the terrorist organization.”

The United Nations, while providing food, has refused to help distribute it, leaving it for Hamas to do so.

A further truth: According to Joel C. Rosenberg of All Israel News, Israel has facilitated the distribution of tons of food to needy Palestinians in Gaza.
Lie 4: Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
The conflict in Gaza is Israel’s response to a vicious attack on Oct. 7, 2023, during which hostages were taken. Some 50 hostages remain unaccounted for — it is estimated that 20 may still be alive and in Hamas hands.
Fighting in Gaza has been difficult because Palestinians have imprisoned many hostages in their homes, willingly or not. Additionally, Hamas consistently used human shields to force the Israel Defense Forces into a war in civilian zones. This is part of Hamas’ plan to flip the script on its genocidal goal to demonize and destroy Israel.
Lie 5: Hezbollah terrorists hurt by Israel’s 2024 pager attack are innocent victims.
Pagers used by Lebanon-based Hezbollah terrorists exploded in the hands of some 3,000 people in September 2024. Multiple sources allege Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency coordinated the operation.
In a jaw-dropping article and photo essay, the Associated Press glorified the recovering terrorists, leaving the impression that they were innocent victims.
Lie 6: Israel is occupying Palestinian land.
This is the biggest lie, which has justified the regional and international hatred of the Jewish state.
As Lori Meed wrote for IFA,
In determining the rights of the Jewish people to the land of Israel, we can find proofs of land ownership and authority in two categories: biblical covenantal promise, historical record, and international law. Both of these support overwhelmingly the Jewish people’s right to “possess their possessions” in the land called Israel (see Obadiah 17).
Father, For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns (Isaiah 62:1). Turn each lie on its head that only Truth be recognized and many nations come to the Messiah for salvation and eternal life.

Lord, bring an end to the terror and an end to the lies and propagation of lies!
Our Heavenly Father. Thank you for opening up our eyes to the lies that have been
told about Gaza since the horrific attack on October 7th. Please let these
lies be exposed by social media and news outlets. The truth needs to be told
and made available to people.
Hamas has been staging everything. From the humanitarian food drop offs,
which Hamas is taking food from the people and the starvation photos which relate
to something else.
Of course we will see more Palestinian protests in America over this. All of it is
lies and not real. Please be with Prime Ministers Benjamin Netanyahu who is a
Godly man and is trying to bring home the Hostages and route out the cowardly
Hamas who have been using people from Gaza as human shields ever since they
started this War. Israel is in desperate need of help and truth and light.
Propaganda that is not true is usually a big part of any War. Unfortunately that is
what goes on. I ask for peace to be the end result of this conflict Lord and that it
will come soon. You are in control of this situation. God Bless Israel!! Shalom.

YHVH, You are fulfilling Your covenant promises and prophetic words over Your Land, and Your people Israel. The nations are being judged according to how they treat Your people, both Israel and the bride of Christ – natural and spiritual Israel. It does not bode well for those who stand against either. And those who claim to know You, and yet stand against Israel, through believing and propagating replacement or secessionist theology are also coming into judgement. May the lies and deceit be exposed to those who honor truth, so that they will not be led astray and thus endangered. Not only do Biblical covenantal promises, historical records, and international law support Israel’s right to exist and to live in the land of Gaza, but also Judea and Samaria – plus! – but archaeological digs are allowing the very rocks to cry out that the Hebrew people are indigenous to this land. It is Your land, and Israel is the permanent lease holder!
