I Prayed have prayed
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Ask the Lord for wisdom on how you should pray about this matter.

“Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask for [it] from God, who gives to all without reservation and not reproaching, and it will be given to him.” (Jam. 1:5)

With 115 co-sponsors, a House bill that calls for single-payer health insurance now enjoys majority Democratic support in the lower chamber. Paired with Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, which helped bring national attention to the issue, some observers say that a single-payer push may become part of Democrats’ platform in 2020.

“I think it’s very realistic,” said Adam Gaffney of Physicians for a National Health Program, a single-payer advocacy group. “If you look at the level of popular support in this country, people want single-payer.”

A June report from Pew Research Center echoed that sentiment, finding that 58 percent of Americans feel that the federal government has a responsibility to ensure that all citizens have health coverage; of that figure, 33 percent specified that universal insurance should come from a “single national government program.” Moreover, a January Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that 19 percent of Americans named “health care” as the issue they would most like to see President Trump and Congress address in 2017.

Rep. John Conyers’ Expanded & Improved Medicare for All Act, which the Michigan lawmaker has proposed in every Congress since 2003, has never seen as much support as it currently has, which may stem from more than the Sanders campaign.

“I think this is a broader struggle over the soul of the Democratic Party, and it has a lot to do with who the party represents in terms of class and race,” said Ben Day of Healthcare-NOW!, a single-payer advocacy group. “Who’s the base of the Democratic Party going to be moving forward?”

In other words, the unaffordability and exclusivity of America’s current “failed” health care system calls for its replacement, said Ken Zinn of National Nurses United, a registered nurses union.  The struggle over – and against – Republican health care reform plans, added Gaffney, has also energized an expanded base of advocates.

With California as an example – the state Senate passed the single-payer Healthy California Act in late May – some supporters point to the states as potential starting places for such an ambitious proposal. Charles Idelson of the California Nurses Association, although frustrated at California State Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon’s decision to freeze the bill, is hopeful thanks to Democratic control of the Assembly, Senate, and governorship.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who has represented the Golden State since 1987, described states as potential laboratories for single-payer, despite having not yet signed on to Conyers’ proposal.

Jim Capretta of the American Enterprise Institute, however, holds an opposing view.

“It’s very hard for a state to do that just because … you have to override the existing federal law that allows large employers to self-insure under federal law outside the jurisdiction of state insurance rules,” he said. “It’s almost impossible for a state to make the math work. And I don’t see that happening politically. I think that’s a fundamental flaw of Vermont and California and many other states.”

Even on the national scale, Capretta asserted, single-payer would not deliver on the efficiency, savings and fairness that Gaffney, Zinn, Idelson, and Day all described. A lack of adaptation, innovation and change, Capretta said, could be expected with a system implemented by a “big” and “clumsy” national government. Although somewhere between 25 and 30 percent of Americans had always favored single-payer, he said, most would prefer employer-sponsored health insurance to an untested alternative.

In a country that spends almost 17 percent of GDP on health care costs, Zinn responded, “the country cannot afford not to [adopt single-payer].” With more than 28 million uninsured and tens of millions more under-insured, Gaffney added, the required tax increase – which would be levied on the top 5 percent of income earners – would be a “reasonable” price to pay.

Looking forward, Gaffney predicted that the toughest challenge in implementing single-payer nationwide would be the “huge opposition” coming from the private health insurance lobby, the pharmaceutical industry, and other vested interests for whom the status quo is more profitable. Even so, said Day, Medicare and Medicaid passed despite looking “impossible, right up until about when they happened.”

“I think the better question is if the American people are going to allow the top earners and self-interested health insurance industry to stop them from having good health,” added Zinn.

Whether the government slowly expands insurance to ever-larger populations, moves forward with existing proposals in Congress, or neither, Capretta said, “one can imagine” the 2020 Democratic candidate for president moving in the direction of single-payer. Although some Democratic leaders, such as Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, have remained non-committal on the topic, supporters remain optimistic for the future.

“Once legislation is passed, I think that the actual implementation of single-payer could proceed more quickly than most people realize,” said Gaffney. “Most likely, this is going to happen under a new government.”….  (By Ford Carson for RealClearHealth.com)

But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own, he speak only what he heard, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, foe they will be filled. Surely the Sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servant the prophets. For the vision is yet for an appointed time but at the end it shall speak and not lie. Though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come; it will not tarry. The axe is already laid at the root of the trees, therefore every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. So all Israel went down to the philistines, each to sharpen his plowshare, his mattock, his axe, and his hoe. Commit they works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. And I will bring the blind by the way that they knew not: I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them.Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.Who among you fears the LORD and obeys the word of his servant? Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God. If you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understanding the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. We are depending on You Lord for a solution. We cry out about the destruction that comes without Your ways, Your counsel, You instructions, Your solution. Sharpen Your assigned leaders in government that behold Your wisdom to write the Healthplan. Nothing is too hard for YOU lord. And this us the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: (we are sure) that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan),He listens to and hears us. and if (since) we (positively know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know (with settled and absolute knowledge) that we have (granted us as our present possessions) the requests made of Him. We search for Your thoughts o God. We seek Your will regarding healthcare Insurance. We trust that You are at work. In Jesus name! Bless the Healthcare taskforce with wisdom and godly ideas.

I am praying for wisdom and guidance about the future of our healthcare to be competent and affordable. I have sent my state senator a letter asking him what he thought of health cost sharing.
There are 4 or five of these health cost sharing plans. Most of them Christian. Do a look up. Read the pros and cons lists given. And then if you feel lead write the president, your senators and ask them to consider creating a system that models the health cost sharing programs, but for everyone. It’s worth a shot as an alternative. Get the word out folks.

Lord God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You know all and you impart wisdom. I see the single payer at the Veterans’ Administration is a disaster. I have seen documentaries about single payer care for native Americans on reservations and it was devestating. Is this what we want? So many people in their 20’s and 30’s think that single payer is the best way to go. What are they seeing that I am not? We have confused health insurance with health care. Health insurance used to be called hospitalization insurance for big bills one would incur when hospitalized. Healthcare treatments and procedures should be decided between a doctor and patient. Payment for healthcare is also very important. The Medicare program does not negotiate drug prices to keep costs low. They do not discontinue doing business with doctors or facilities who have been caught committing fraud against Medicare and Medicaid. They fine them. Do we want to be able to choose our plans and coverages? My children suffered devestating illnesses and were treated. The insurance paid 80% of costs after a reasonable deductible and I paid 20% by making monthly payments. My copays were tens of thousands of dollars, but I paid my part and paid a reasonable amount for the insurance.

Almighty Lord God, Creator of all things in heaven and earth I come seeking your wisdom and guidance for us here in America. Lord I don’t understand all the things that are happening right now and I am grateful that you Father know all things, you know our needs and you have the answers to all our questions. Father I lift up our country, people and elected officials that we will seek you in returning to you and how you want us to be. I pray Father that you will pour out your Love, Presence and Light upon us all. I pray for peace and unity. Free us from our selfishness, greed, lusts and the seeking of the things of this world. The reflections of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. Remove the wicked and decisive from the presence of the president that righteousness will be established. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. Amen.

Father I pray that Your people see and appreciate the freedom You have given them in this country established as Your nation and that they take accountability to truly care for their neighbor. That they trust in You alone and not in the governments of men! Let us humbly care for one another and not rely on fickle governments. You put it in the hearts of men to raise up great hospitals in this land that Your compassion might be manifest – I pray that You alone are lifted up and not the controls of men. We pray for Your mercy Father for Your people and for those who seek after Your Name. We pray that it is Your glory that reigns in this land above every deception of evil!

Has everyone lost their minds? How many individual freedoms are we going to give up? Who truly wants the Government to tell them how to take care of their health, when, and in what fashion? You only have to look at England, for example, where the Government tells parents whether they can pursue alternative health measures in order to try to save their own babies! You have NO say as a parent or as an individual. What does Freedom mean to you, nothing?! Your rights?
