Senate Republicans barreled ahead with their uphill battle to repeal and possibly replace Obamacare Wednesday, reviving a 2015 bill that would gut much of the President Obama’s overhaul within two years.
President Trump is willing to sign the measure — his predecessor vetoed the first version — yet the idea faces a deficit of support among Republicans, enraging conservatives who note that many sitting GOP senators backed the idea under a Democratic president.
The effort is the latest step in Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s push to land a repeal bill that can attract 50 votes from his narrow majority, as he leverages fast-track budget rules to avoid a Democratic filibuster.
“This certainly won’t be easy — hardly anything in this process has been,” Mr. McConnell, Kentucky Republican, said. “But we know that moving beyond the failures of Obamacare is the right thing to do.”
Mr. Trump and GOP leaders secured a political victory on Tuesday by convincing all but two Senate Republicans to vote to begin debate, with Vice President Mike Pence breaking the stalemate.
The vote allowed leaders to get on a House-passed bill and begin sifting through options for their own version in a free-wheeling debate that will feature numerous amendments and stretch through the week.
Yet their first try — on a replacement plan that GOP leaders drafted and redrafted for weeks to try and win over both conservatives and moderates — was defeated hours later, with nine Republicans voting “no,” underscoring GOP rifts and the pitfalls of leadership’s improvisational approach.
The bill was subject to a 60-vote threshold because congressional scorekeepers hadn’t evaluated aspects of it designed to attract both conservatives and moderates. That meant it was doomed before the voting began, though it gave GOP leaders a view of where their senators stood.
Their next attempt is also likely to fail. Sens. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski effectively blocked GOP leaders from proceeding with the 2015 repeal measure last week, when it was floated as a fallback to the sputtering replacement bill…. Dear Father, in Jesus’ name, we pray Thy will be done regarding healthcare in our country. We pray that even in the midst of this struggle, that You are moving in a powerful way to meet health needs of the American people. We pray that “You part the heavens and come down…..we pray that You reach down from on high and take hold of (America) and draw us out of deep waters. (Psalm 18:9,16) We pray our leaders will come together in unity by the power of Your Holy Spirit (133:1) and that Your wisdom regarding healthcare in this country will be heard for “The voice of the Lord is powerful. The voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars.” (Psalm 29:4,5) Lord, it is You Who opens up springs and streams” (Psalm 74:15) Lord, “it is You Who breaks down gates of bronze and cuts through bars of iron.”(Psalm 107:16) Please open the doors that need to be opened and the hearts and minds that need to be opened. Please break through all the unnecessary rhetoric and help our leaders develop and agree on a well crafted, workable health plan. “May Your mercy come quickly to help us for we are in desperate need.” (Psalm 79:8)
Lord, you know of the deceptions of the newspapers, the powerful elite like Soros who wield a mighty hand in our land, the Shadow Government; all coercion ,and blackmail, and threats do not go unnoticed by you. We pray that no more tax payers money goes to killing the unborn, we pray that only a heathcare measure that strips Planed Parenthood of this money go through. We pray that you would deliver us from our foes without and those within. We lift up families who are heavy burdened by mounting health care costs and ask that you would be with them and supply thier needs. Lord it is your will that our dependence would be on you, and not our government. In you is our trust secure. In Jesus name, Amen
Father, Abba, now, more than ever, do we beseech you for your help. You know the ways of the Evil One. He poisons the minds of all our citizens, pitting one against the other until no man is standing. You have seen this country as it has slid into disgrace and immorality. But you have heard the prayers of your believers. We plead with You to support our dear President and help turn this country in to a God-fearing nation, once again.
By the time I read this today, Friday July 28, the cowards, liars and traitors in the senate did not pass even the lowest procedural bill that would allow the two houses to try to reconcile their differences. I pray that those traitors in our government will be shown the error of their ways and vote to totally and immediately repeal the abomination known as the “affordable” care act. May God hear and answer our prayers.
Father I come just now to lift up our country, the people, the President, his administration, congress and all politicians. Lord we have such a mess down here and we need You Lord. You are God, Creator of all things in heaven and earth. You are righteous and just. You are loving, kind and faithful. Father you have richly blessed us here in America. You have provided all that we need. I pray Father that we will all come to you seeking wisdom, guidance, strength, courage in doing what is right for ALL PEOPLE not just a few. I pray Lord that you will free our elected leaders from greed, lust and power as they serve you and our country. Help them to remember you have chosen and allowed them to have these positions for Father you are in control and are Greater than all we know. Father thank you for loving us. Thank you for your Love, Presence and Light you give to us. Help us Lord to see honestly what we need to do to make you first in all things. Thank you Lord for listening and thank you for all you are creating for us to be the people and country you want us to be. May Praise and Glory be given to you in Jesus name, amen.

I pray for a vision of victory for Your people Heavenly Father. Cause them to see and know that as it was in the days of Haman Your righteousness will reign among and for Your people as they lift their cries to You and place their trust in You alone! That they will see that what was meant for evil will be turned on those who choose self serving over serving those they have promised to serve “righteously”. We praise Your name and pray for the protection of Your faithful ones. You alone are mighty above all else!
Lord, we praise and exalt You above all others. We ask that You move on the hearts and minds of those representatives elected in good faith by the people of our country. Give them Your pure and peaceable wisdom to establish a health care coverage system that is equitable and compassionate for all We pray You continue to uncover all deception and subterfuge, bringing all into the light of truth. We pray that Those who know You and desire Your ways be looked on favorably, sought out for their wisdom for You alone are wise, good, faithful and true.

Praying God rises up many who will faithfully & loyally fight for the American People acknowledging HIM and taking counsel from HIM along the way.
