Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham introduced a resolution Thursday condemning the closed-door process of House Democrats’ impeachment investigation.
Thirty-nine of the 52 other Senate Republicans joined him in calling the impeachment drive “illegitimate and dangerous.”

“Every American should be disturbed by what is taking place in the House of Representatives regarding the attempt to impeach President Trump,” Graham, R-S.C., said.
“One of the cornerstones of American jurisprudence is due process—the right to confront your accuser, call witnesses on your behalf, and challenge the accusations against you. None of this is occurring in the House,” he said in a written statement.
The House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence has taken the lead in the chamber’s impeachment investigation, and has interviewed most witnesses in secret.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., co-sponsored Graham’s resolution of protest, which comes the day after nearly 40 House Republicans staged a protest at the secure structure where Democrats are interviewing witnesses in secret regarding President Donald Trump’s actions on Ukraine.
If the Democrat-run House moves forward to impeach Trump, it would take a bipartisan group of 67 senators to convict and remove him from office.
The Graham-McConnell resolution, with 39 co-sponsors, could be seen as an early indicator of Trump support barring any new revelations in the Ukraine matter.
“It is imperative the president be able to confront his accuser, call witnesses on his behalf, and have a basic understanding of the accusations against him that would form any basis for impeachment,” said Graham, who outlined the resolution to reporters. “We cannot have a country where every American has rights except Donald Trump. I find the current process illegitimate and dangerous to the future of the presidency.”
The Graham-McConnell resolution calls for the House to vote to initiate a formal impeachment inquiry, similar to precedents set by the impeachment investigations of Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton.
The resolution also calls for the House to provide members of the minority with the ability to participate fully in all proceedings and have equal authority to issue subpoenas and other compulsory process.
“Any process to overrule the American people’s democratic decision in a presidential election must adhere to the highest standards of fairness and due process,” McConnell said in a written statement. “Yet the House Democrats’ impeachment inquiry is breaking critical precedents, denying the administration important rights that were afforded other presidents, and violating basic rules of due process.”

Dear Father,
I come to You in the Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, to intercede for our President as he walks through this firey trial. I pray that You protect him physically, spiritually and emotionally and that “no weapon formed against him shall prosper and every tongue that accuses him shall be refuted. For this is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and this is their vindication from Me.” (Isaiah 53:17). I speak truth to be our standard and the evil be revealed and dealt with in a judicious manner. That those who are trying to undermine his presidency will be exposed and their plans fail. May our Senators and those who call themselves by Your Name in the House of Representatives hear Your voice and stop this illegal and unwarranted impeachment inquiry. We ask for complete transparency on the part of the impeachment seekers and that their plans be foiled. Let the American people stand up against this evil and expose the lies of the enemy. We thank you and we praise you for the blood of Yeshua (Jesus) and the forgiveness of our sins and washing away all our past mistakes. Corrie Ten Boom your servant used to say *No more fishing* for you cast our past sins as far as the east is from the west. This has been a ploy of the enemy to stop the man you have appointed and annointed at this time to change the course this nation has been heading on. Forgive us for the innocent blood that has been shed in this land. Forgive us for wanting comforts more than You and Your Word. We repent for standing by and allowing this nation to turn further and further away from Your plan. I thank you for President Donald John Trump, I ask that the rich heritage that comes from His great aunts and the Hebrides revival permeate this land with your glory and your presence. I pray those who love you would have keen discernment to understand this is a fight for the very soul of this nation. Time to cry out that righteous judges and legislators would be placed in the seats of their states and thank you for exposing the corruption in this nation of various groups who profess to be helping women and children but are exploiting them for their own gain. Father, You have given us a strong man willing to stand for righteousness and declare You in blessing this nation, while speaking against human atrocities on the world stage. Father, remove the veil blinding believers in You, that they may see what You are doing in the Spirit for our good and Your Glory and let us each armor up fully to stand, to stand for what You call righteous, to stand against the evil politics of abortion, of human trafficking, of removing all references to You and Your Holy Scripture from our schools or meeting places, even from business that no longer carry items of faith, remind us to stand firm for the documents based on Your natural law that give us the rights to pursue life, liberty and happiness, that give us religious freedoms, let us stand behind the men and women on the front lines of defending these freedoms.
