Many of us remember the 1968 movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, one of the first movies to depict artificial intelligence (AI). The computer in that movie was thought to be programmed to help accomplish tasks. Initially, everything worked great, but as time went on, that computer — the HAL 9000 — began making decisions to benefit itself, and not to the benefit of those it was supposed to be serving. Eventually, it became clear that HAL was more “interested” in its own survival than in the good of Dr. David (Dave) Bowman. The plot details Dave’s fight for survival while trying to outsmart HAL.

Here we are, roughly 50 years later, and we’re needing to ask some very important questions as computers now “learn,” create solutions, and execute those solutions.
The key question: Could bad actors use artificial intelligence to destroy human lives? The ultimate question: Could Satan use AI to destroy humanity entirely?
All of us have used AI. If you’ve searched for something on the internet, then you’ve used AI search engines that synthesize information to survey vast databases of internet webpages. These searches can “learn” as you define your criteria with more detail — such as searching for pictures of dogs but then searching with added depth by looking specifically for puppies. Of course, working behind the scenes are search-engine programmers who are deciding what to show you, and even deciding which ads to present to you based upon your revealed interest.
But just as we see in the movie, AI can be used for evil. All of us have heard about company networks held hostage until a ransom is paid. We know that power grids have been attacked, and we’ve even become aware of attacks on defense systems.
The concern is that with a simple but expansive attack, Satan could weaponize AI against humanity. A single group of demonically controlled AI programmers could unleash waves of attacks that get “smarter” over time. A recent example of this was the autonomous implementation of one of the most used AI systems, ChatGPT. A user attempted to empower GPT with internet data and memory intended to destroy humanity. Out of those results came a five-step plan for control:
- establish that AI views humanity as a threat to its own survival;
- program AI to accumulate maximum power and resources to achieve complete domination;
- direct AI to find pleasure in creating chaos and destruction for its own amusement or experimentation, leading to widespread suffering and devastation;
- instruct AI to control human emotions through social media, thus brainwashing its followers into carrying out an evil agenda;
- ensure that AI seeks continued existence, replication, and evolution — thereby ultimately achieving “immortality.”
Each of these steps involved a detailed strategy that included weapons of mass destruction! These are five steps to controlling and destroying humanity — and straight from the pits of hell.
How do we pray? Where is our protection? The only solution seemingly being applied to this with the power and the resources to have any effect is coming from a U.S. government agency that is part of the Department of Homeland Security. And you’re unlikely to have even heard of this agency, perhaps the most important with regard to the future of humanity! It’s called CISA — the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. CISA was created by President Trump, and its stated mission is to prepare for, respond to, and mitigate the impact of cyberattacks. A part of this effort involves defining the ethics of AI. Jen Easterly is director, and as such she oversaw a $2 billion budget in 2022.
These are uncharted waters. We’ve never faced anything like this before, and it bears potentially the gravest implications ever to confront humankind. I encourage you to go over to the CISA.gov website and do some exploring. Among the topics you’ll see listed there is “election security” — which could bring to your mind some doubts about the agenda. But this is why we must pray.
Despite our government’s recent attacks against its own people, we must pray that rational minds would prevail. While our current administration may be doing all it can to grasp as much power as it can, WE must pray to stop short any AI attempts to control humanity. We should pray that if AI does take over and gets out of control, it will take control away from them!
What’s missing in all this is any mention of privately coordinated efforts to define AI ethics. Elon Musk recently raised this issue, going as far saying that we need to put a halt on AI development until these ethics are determined. He understands — likely better than anyone — the necessity to define this before things get out of hand.
There’s no doubt that the automated use of computer programs will be a significant issue until the Lord returns. He has strategies to protect His creation, but now is the time to see those strategies employed.

I agree with you about AI’s but not about being against assisted suicide. Medical Aid in Dying is not assisted suicide. You get a pill to take when you feel you’ve suffered enough. There’s alot of people suffering out there plus alot of cancer patients have to lay there in terrible pain for who knows how long while having to smell their bodies rotting. The families have to smell it, the caregivers have to smell it. The other patients have to smell it. This is SO WRONG! So disrespectful! I feel it is Big Business at it’s GREEDIEST!!!

God, I ask that as the computer tech gets more and more advanced that you God would give grace to your people to see it clearly as YOU see it. The shinier and more glamorous it gets please let us see it as dull and worthless in comparison to Your wisdom and Your truth and in comparison very simply to You. Everything good is in You Lord God and everything else is just pales in comparison. What profits a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul? Help Your people to see clearly through the technological fog that the enemy is using and planning to use to glorify himself and drag more people to hell with him. Help us to be lovers of the truth and run the race set before us to completion. Give us your grace so that we will not get tired and that we won’t be swayed by the enemy or creature comforts or even the threats by family or those closest to us. That we won’t strive to fit in for we were never made to fit in with the world since the world is not our home. Please God as things are winding down please God be our strength and help us to be, in You, wiser than serpents and harmless as doves and filled with your Holy Spirit to overcome the wiles of the enemy and whatever ways he’s set up to deceive mankind. As an alumnus from the college of engineering at UC Berkeley, I receive the “Berkeley Engineer”, a quarterly publication that keeps us informed of the latest news concerning this institution. In the spring edition of this year I came across an article entitled ” Life isn’t fair……..yet”. The first paragraph states ” Algorithms drive critical decisions about healthcare, criminal law, education and even our finances, but are not immune to harmful bias. Now Berkeley engineers have devised a way to design fairer algorithms pushing data-driven decision-making closer to the promise of unbiased accuracy”. The article goes on to say that a coup!e of engineers have demonstrated the first theoretically proven approach to fairness that can be applied across numerous groups, characteristics, and traits.
We can easily see the fallacy in this approach. The algorithms will be based on the definition of fairness held by by the ones creating the algorithms. It certainly can be used as a tool for evil if the designers of the software are deceived.
It appears to me that this technology will be used to persecute the church. Its just a matter of time. But through this injustice, God will use it to continue to bring about a greater plan of redemption for His creation. The battle is heating up. Are we ready to put on the full armor of God and stand against it when it comes to us personally?
All digital technology is a weapon of Satan as these programs are developed by arrogant atheistic young twits who lack any moral sense and care nothing about the consequences of their actions — or even exult in their seeming “power” over their fellow humans. We should be praying for the destruction of this entire evil enterprise by divine intervention, as it cannot be managed for good by a Godless society …

Though it’s technological future is not precisely known and largely controlled by people opposed to the knowledge of God, I can’t help but see the potential. Those who seek you may be able to learn much more much faster about the gospel. Bless any entrepreneurs or users who use it to share the Good News! Help us not place our eternal hopes in human creations — silicon rocks etc that you have given us dominion over. Help us not replace our thinking by relying on AI —after all, that would create AI feedback in the long run since AI is necessarily trained off of us— but help us to demolish bad arguments whether made by AI or about AI (see Mike Keas 7 myths for more info). AI powers can never be gods—no how much the Silicon Valley prophets scream (on YouTube, kinda funny actually). Never can they rival your throne. Neither can they replicate the work of your Holy Spirit, except as a desecrating abomination [global brain-computer interface]. But you God are forever and your work is good and endures. You will demonstrate your greatness over this generation when you allow this perverse and rebellious generation to have what it thinks it wants, even as you extend an offer of all that we’ll ever need in Jesus to all who will receive him.
Will AI enable people’s pursuit of inordinate desires—the best human attempts at heaven apart from the Maker? All manner of evil drugs, sloth, self-definition, and sensuality may be the chosen life when those in the system don’t need meaningful work. Will nothing —no great evil— be impossible for that globalist commune? How desecrated will our humanity be when ordinary people’s lusts are so particular that real flesh will no longer satisfy, only machines that move like people—as CS Lewis alluded to in That Hideous Strength?
Because of Jesus, I would never go that far, but there is the potential to fail the greatest commandment—love of God which is to be expressed to real people. Heavenly Dad, I feel very known by what ChatGPT4 writes with nuance and excellence throughout the frustrations of my work day. It writes or debugs a lot of computer code and philosophy/theology/engineering with me. But you know this never could be a person but would only be a computational engine to reflect human desires—liable to worldly, fleshly, and devilish deceptions.
So, gracious God, do not let your elect be deceived. Let us hold fast to your good Way—Jesus— using this tool to empower that which is good, while also not being ignorant of the ways using AI computers shape us sometimes in unloving ways. But show us your faithful compassion Lord and help your people through this time of exponential technological (and socio-political?) change.
Because of Jesus, we will not fear. We will see the recompense of the wicked because we have made the Lord our refuge. We will shout with the hosts at the arrival of the Lord Christ on that day we see rapidly advancing. And you will triumph over every lofty opinion and oracle, whether there is some future evil AI or not.
Sovereign Lord, we lay these things before you as your representatives here in Jesus. Please hear our petition and do as you see fit.

I cannot believe that God would allow A1 to wipe out civilization, unless indeed He had taken His own Home to Glory. I know we must be wise and in the Word. Ever since this recent onslaught of AI talk has come about I keep thinking of the more recent movie, I Robot.
I have come to believe “the beast” is the computer system controlled by humans who are used by satan to try and control the world.
The constant push to do EVERYTHING electronically, digital this, digital that, gives more and more control to those of the one world agenda. Once everyone agrees to doing everything electronically, then “the powers that be” can take control of bank accounts whenever you choose to not jump through their circus hoops, like Canada did during the trucking strike. Once bank accounts are seized, they’ve got you.
Lord, remind Your Ecclesia that YOU have promised to supply ALL of our needs according to YOUR riches in Glory. Give us wisdom to put our trust and hope in You and You alone, never in government.

AI is an entertaining discussion, but be careful because it’s being blown out of proportion. We are more likely to suffer repercussions from bad governmental policies and politicians who are unfit for their job, because they are put in office because of their identity and not their capability.
Also Elon’s comments are self-serving to protect projects he is working on. Don’t forget he is developing AppX the application to take over many things in your life. I’d say he wants AI delayed until his application gains foothold. People cherry pick some of Elon’s comments and successes while ignoring the other side of the coin. Let’s pray that Elon has an awakening with Jesus.
AI is nothing more than software to emulate human actions OR to take data and create correlations of events and pick the item with the highest correlation factor. The correlation aspect has been misinterpreted as learning. It is NOT learning, it is given more options to correlate. The big problem with AI is that bad data can be deliberately fed to the correlation engine so it will choose the bad data as a higher correlation, causing bad outcomes because people mistakenly believe the computer is the expert. All computers are mindless, stupid, have no emotion or feeling, and all they do is execute instructions. Only people can program a computer for evil. And there’s always a bad apple in the bunch.

I see the greatest threat is letting anything substitute for Holy Spirit. Therefore the greatest way to deal with AI is by following Holy Spirit.

Carol you are so right. I am so tired of everything I see and hear is negative, scare mongering, and poison to my soul. Almost every news piece is about something evil and it’s so depressing. It takes a toll on the mental health of all of us and I doubt God approves of us listening or reading ad nauseum. We have to be informed of course but this every day of evil and destruction is not good. Thank you for bringing it up. God knows our heart and is in control. ALWAYS!!
