Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. removed all 17 members of a key committee that assesses and recommends vaccines.

Kennedy wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal Monday saying he was “taking a bold step in restoring public trust by totally reconstituting the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices.”
“We are retiring the 17 current members of the committee, some of whom were last-minute appointees of the Biden administration,” Kennedy wrote. “Without removing the current members, the current Trump administration would not have been able to appoint a majority of new members until 2028.”
The Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices, or ACIP, evaluates the safety, efficacy, and clinical need of the vaccines and submits its findings to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The health secretary cited conflict-of-interest concerns as the reason for overhauling the board.
“The committee has been plagued with persistent conflicts of interest and has become little more than a rubber stamp for any vaccine,” Kennedy wrote. “It has never recommended against a vaccine—even those later withdrawn for safety reasons. It has failed to scrutinize vaccine products given to babies and pregnant women.”
To make matters worse, Kennedy said, the groups that inform the committee “meet behind closed doors, violating the legal and ethical principle of transparency crucial to maintaining public trust.”
Many committee members have received funding from pharmaceutical companies, including companies marketing vaccines that the members are tasked with reviewing, Kennedy said, adding the problem isn’t necessarily that members are corrupt.
“Most likely aim to serve the public interest as they understand it,” he wrote. “The problem is their immersion in a system of industry-aligned incentives and paradigms that enforce a narrow pro-industry orthodoxy.”
The new members Kennedy plans to appoint “won’t directly work for the vaccine industry” but “will exercise independent judgment, refuse to serve as a rubber stamp, and foster a culture of critical inquiry.”
Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, expressed concern about anti-vaccine sentiment taking hold at the advisory committee.
The Louisiana Republican supplied the key vote for Kennedy’s confirmation after the former environmental lawyer promised not to change the advisory committee.
“Of course, now the fear is that the ACIP will be filled up with people who know nothing about vaccines except suspicion,” Cassidy said on X. “I’ve just spoken with Secretary Kennedy, and I’ll continue to talk with him to ensure this is not the case.”

I responded to the question about thoughts on Secretary Kennedy, saying I was in full support of his courageous move and asked God to send strength and wisdom. He has studied and researched this treatment in Public health for years and Im sure no decision was made easily. Our part as a nation is to PRAY for these men and women to make wise decisions. The drug companies have far to much power and someone benefits and the consequences fall on innocent people. I took the COVID vaccine and booster and paid the price with issues with my gait, balance. My issues are traced back to Long Covid. I love my doctor , but I have had to learn to accept with joy how things worked out for me. God is always good and faithful and each day He gets me up and fills my day with His love. Kennedy is a praying man and I believe he will move forward as God directs.
If you problems are associated with ‘long COVID’ than you probably were one of the ones who had COVID and didn’t know it and had it before you got the vaccine. You don’t develop long COVID from the Vaccine.
Lord, the Evangelical Church continues to lose followers as they see the hypocrisy. Evangelicals call themselves pro-life but then support policies that lead people to die. How shameful. The American Medical Association is asking for an investigation of this obviously damaging move. If we look to your word and how to achieve wisdom, who should we trust, an impartial board of experts like the AMA or someone like Kennedy who has just shown himself to be willing to lie to advance policy with publishing a report filled with fake sources? Lord, you have all wisdom, how long will your followers be deceived by this corrupt administration? How long will pastors turn a blind eye while the young leave the church seeing such rank hypocrisy? Lord, may the Church turn back to following you instead of corrupt political leaders.
I’m pleased with Secetary Kenney’s decisions. I have Grandchildren and I’m in fear for their health. I took the shots for Covid, now I’m left with Afib. Our Government was a disgrace under the last Administration. Thank you for your caring for the people,
Mr. Kennedy’s statements about conflict of interest is somewhat misleading. Some members were paid by vaccine makers to assist with clinical trials in which they helped evaluate the vaccines for safety and efficacy. The amounts they were paid were less then their salaries. In their role with the CDC, they self identified themselves as having conflict of interest and recused themselves from being involved with products that they evaluated.
Kennedy also says that they ‘rubber stamp’ their approval but their decisions often recommend narrower windows of application of certain vaccines.

I wholeheartedly agree and am grateful for Secretary Kennedy’s bold stand. After what we all went through during Covid, and the failed, flawed unscrupulous roll out of the deadly vaccine that did more harm to the public and was not safe or effective, this is a welcome change.
