(DAILYWIRE) – Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) announced Wednesday that Republicans intend to overhaul the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act to include a mandatory photo identification requirement for federal elections. GOP leadership says the change is intended to close what they view as a significant gap in existing election integrity laws.

While the original version of the SAVE Act, which passed the House in April 2025, focused primarily on requiring documentary proof of citizenship (DPOC) at the point of voter registration, Thune noted that it lacked a specific requirement for photo identification at the polling place.

“I cosponsored the SAFE Act in the past; my understanding is that they are still modifying the bill,” Thune told reporters. “It includes, right now, a requirement that you be a citizen to register to vote but it doesn’t include a requirement that to vote you be a resident. So, in other words, if you’re going to have what we call voter ID, photo ID, when somebody goes into the ballot box to vote, that’s not currently covered in the bill. So that’s being fixed and addressed, and I think the new bill that comes out will deal with that. … I’m for it; I think most of our colleagues in the Senate are.”

The SAVE Act, originally introduced by Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), would amend the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. Its core provisions currently include:

  • Mandatory Proof of Citizenship: Requiring passports, birth certificates, or military records to register.
  • Roll Maintenance: Compelling states to remove non-citizens from existing voter rolls.
  • Criminal Penalties: Establishing federal charges for officials who register ineligible individuals.

The proposed amendment would establish a uniform photo ID requirement nationwide. Currently, voter ID laws vary by state, with 36 states requiring some form of identification and 14 states relying on signature matching or verbal attestation instead.

Proponents of the measure cite high public confidence in ID requirements. Recent data suggests that 80% of Americans favor photo ID laws, including 97% of Republicans, 84% of Independents, and 53% of Democrats. Furthermore, 77% of minority voters reportedly support such measures.

Critics, however, argue that strict ID requirements and the elimination of mail-in registration could disproportionately burden voters without easy access to government-issued documents. Despite these concerns, supporters cite a National Bureau of Economic Research study that found such laws have no statistically significant negative effect on overall voter turnout.

The bill now awaits further action in the Senate, where it is expected to face a difficult path along party lines, despite Thune’s confidence that “most” of his colleagues support the revision.

The SAVE act is the MOST IMPORTANT bill in the Senate that must be passed! Everyone should contact their representatives so that this topic is voted on soon. This is the last chance for Americans to stop illegal voting for non-citizens and voting fraud that is widespread in Democratic cities. This is critically needed in order to win future elections! Why doesn’t IFA make this their number #1 priority???
Dear Lord, please push this bill to a vote in the Senate in order to show Americans who is for fair elections soon.

I have been looking at Colorado history to find out why Colorado went from being a Red State for 40-years to Purple and then Blue since about 2003. Much to my surprise I found that this was no accident, it was a planned attack on Colorado by very rich Democrats using what is described in a documentary called “The Rocky Mountain Heist” where it describes a well thought out plan how to best accomplish this. This video goes into great detail how the accomplished this and changed Colorado forever to a Blue State for profit and control. Part of this involved of course mail in ballots which invites voter fraud on a massive scale. I was also part of “I Voter Guide” rating candidates commitment to support conservative beliefs, many of which were quite disappointing as some had other agendas and others were weak candidates. I was also part of a committee looking into the election results 0f the 2024 Primary and General elections of which Colorado should have experienced a Red Flood but that never did like it did in so many other States. Bottom line there was a question about voting machines being compromised as the BIOS Passwords to the Dominion Voting machines had been posted of Jena Griswold’s the Secretary of States public web site since about June of 2024 where they could have been compromised and even the News 9 of Denver interviewed her where she admitted, were published without security or password protection on the SOS public website since about June 2024 and not removed until 24 Oct 2024. Cybersecurity experts stated that if a voting machine was suspected of being compromised then it was, which mean 63 out of the 64 in Colorado could have been compromised. Being part of this committee I listened to the cybersecurity experts, one of which did DOD’s cybersecurity, that was part of the investigation. There was actually a hearing in Denver court that heard the testimonies but nothing really came of it. Some of them members of this committee actually went to local DA Offices and filed Affidavits to demand they investigate this potential breech of the voting machines but never heard anything back. Even after contacting our local GOP Office about the inaction I never heard anything further about it.

This is only the readers Digest version of all what actually happened not including how a Mesa County Clerk is spending time in prison falsely being accused of voter fraud when she reported the suspected fraud in her county to Griswold. Supposedly Trump was to get her out but I have never heard any confirmation about that.

Agreed! BTW, Trump can’t pardon Tina Peters because it requires a state pardon not federal. This confirms what is going on in 90% of the blue cities across the country. that’s why it’s so important that the SAVE Act is passed into law.

Of course the Democrats don’t support it. It affects with their method of cheating. I pray that God would take care of this so that our elections are fair and represent our God given rights and beliefs. May God’s will be done. 🙏😇🙏❤️
