The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency arrested nearly 20,000 illegal migrants in the Washington, DC, area since January 2025, the Washington Post says.

The arrests ranged throughout D.C. as well as the surrounding areas in Maryland and Virginia from the start of Trump’s second administration through March 20, according to the Post.

While the rate of arrests in D.C. itself has fallen, the arrests have stayed about the same in the surrounding areas, the paper added.

These numbers represent a significant increase compared to the previous administration, signaling a renewed focus on immigration enforcement under President Trump.
