I Prayed have prayed
Lord help us to keep our eyes on You, and not the giants that we may be facing today. Your promises always hold true, no matter what our circumstances.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

It was a Saturday morning, and I was driving to my office to catch up on some work. I had music playing on my media player. As one song came to an end and another began to play, capturing my attention. It was a song I have listened to many times before, but today, God began to show me something in the simple, yet powerful words of this song. The song is called “Giants.”

One part of the song exploded in my spirit. It said, “I see giants in the land … I see promise. I see promise.”

I pulled out my Bible as soon as I got to my office and re-read the story in Numbers 13. God had led His people to their Promised Land. It was time for them to enter in. We all know the story. They did not enter in because they were afraid of the giants in the land. The Bible says they didn’t enter in because of unbelief.

Numbers 13:1 teaches us that it was GOD who told Moses to send men in to spy out the land. God knew they would see the fruitfulness of the land. He also knew they would see the giants. His hope was that they would believe what He had said more than what they saw. Knowing they would see the giants, why did He send them in to spy out the land? I believe one reason is the promise He made to Moses. We find this promise in Joshua 1:3: “I have given you every place where the sole of your foot will tread, just as I promised to Moses.”

God knew their feet needed to stand upon what He had promised them. Therefore, He sent them in, not to be intimidated by the giants in the land, but so that they would place their feet upon what He said was theirs. If we are not willing to take a stand for it, we may never have it.

That morning, as I listened to the words of the giant song, I realized a profound truth:If we are seeing giants … we are seeing promise. We have come to the borders of our Promised Lands. What we do at this point is up to us. Will we do as the children of Israel did and cry, “Oh, the giants are too big! We can’t fight them, we are no match for them, let’s go back.”

Or, will we be like Joshua and Caleb and declare, “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them” (Numbers 1:7a-9)….

Today, I want to ask you a question: Are you seeing giants in the land? If so, my friend, you are standing within the perimeters of your promise. Refuse to focus on the giants. Do not fear them. Place your eyes on Jesus and your promise. He is well able to cause you to possess your promise – He has already given you the land!

Some see giants. Some see promise. May we be one of those – those who see the promise and possess it.

Beware the conflating of one’s Christian faith with patriotism. I too trust in the ultimate victory of my God against the forces of evil (Giants in the land, if you will) but I will not project my own preferences for the shape, place or timing of that victory on the perfect plan of Almighty God. I must be content with the certainty of God’s eventual triumph as revealed in scripture and accept whatever faith building setbacks God chooses to permit. By all means, stand against the Giants, but don’t expect an uninterrupted torrent of victories or even a single “triumph” as we may define success. Take heart though. I read the end of the book and we win!

Very interesting! On target. The Lord had just given me a prophetic word, basically about being bold and going STRONG “to the hoop”! (as in basketball)! This ties in perfectly. Thanks for the insight. paul

Agree it’s time to take our Country back! Yes I see giants but God is with us we must pray against the hatred that is coming against Israel and Christians and block the giants roads of entry! Put a stumbling block before the giants and remove them from our Land! I pray in Jesus’ Mighty Name to be done!

I say thank You Lord God of Israel! Praying that we who are believers in the Lord Jesus Christ stand and act on His promises, they are still true today and forever! The giants in the land are the people who hate God and who love death. Here in our nation – we should not be standing idly by to see it be handed over to those who hate Him. We should stand together in word and deed and take our country back for the Lord who gave it to our founding fathers and we need to see it through for our younger generations until the Lord comes back for us. Fight diligently for freedom and His righteousness, amen.
