I Prayed have prayed
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Pray for the Church. Thank God for all those believers who are surrendered to Jesus and doing the good works that He has prepared in advance for us to do. (Eph 2:10) Do you have an encouraging word for your fellow Christians? Leave a comment.

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. (Rom 14:19)

“More and more I feel that the people of ill will have used time much more effectively than have the people of good will. We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people. Human progress never rolls in on wheels of inevitability; it comes through the tireless efforts of men willing to be co-workers with God, and without this ‘hard work, time itself becomes an ally of the forces of social stagnation. We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right. Now is the time to make real the promise of democracy and transform our pending national elegy into a creative psalm of brotherhood.

“In deep disappointment I have wept over the laxity of the church. But be assured that my tears have been tears of love. There can be no deep disappointment where there is not deep love. Yes, I love the church. How could I do otherwise? l am in the rather unique position of being the son, the grandson and the great-grandson of preachers. Yes, I see the church as the body of Christ. But, oh! How we have blemished and scarred that body through social neglect and through fear of being nonconformists. There was a time when the church was very powerful in the time when the early Christians rejoiced at being deemed worthy to suffer for what they believed.

“In those days the church was not merely a thermometer that recorded the ideas and principles of popular opinion; it was a thermostat that transformed the mores of society. Whenever the early Christians entered a town, the people in power became disturbed and immediately sought to convict the Christians for being “disturbers of the peace” and “outside agitators”‘ But the Christians pressed on, in the conviction that they were “a colony of heaven,” called to obey God rather than man. Small in number, they were big in commitment. They were too God-intoxicated to be “astronomically intimidated.” By their effort and example, they brought an end to such ancient evils as infanticide and gladiatorial contests.

“Things are different now. So often the contemporary church is a weak, ineffectual voice with an uncertain sound. So often it is an archdefender of the status quo. If today’s church does not recapture the sacrificial spirit of the early church, it will lose its authenticity, forfeit the loyalty of millions, and be dismissed as an irrelevant social club with no meaning for the twentieth century. Every day I meet young people whose disappointment with the church has turned into outright disgust.”

These words were excerpted from Martin Luther King, Jr.’s letter to fellow clergymen from the Birmingham Jail nearly 56 years ago. Looking back, they are as prophetic today as they were truth in April 1963. As Romans 12:21 exhorts “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good,” the “Church” needs to wake up because what King wrote is happening. (Used with permission. Bill Wilson, Daily Jot)

Wow! How current is that challenge from (deceased) Martin Luther King, Jr.!! It’s especially relevant in light of the recent law (& I think change to their constitution!!) in New York to essentially OK the taking of a baby’s life in the womb right up to the day of birth!! … NO, … MORE: it literally legalizes the killing of a baby if it survives an attempted abortionl!! (Sorry folks for such a horrible, jolting truth.) This legalization is unimaginable! Gosnell’s crime would now be legal there…multiplied in the thousands!! (He was the Philadelphia abortion “doctor” the subject of a recent movie about the trial of a man said possibly to be the most prolific mass killer in American history because of all the babies killed in his abortion mill.) Again, forgive me! This is egregious!! The horror of where we–in our culture…of death–are going is magnified by the fact that the New York state Senate stood and applauded when the result of the vote was announced!!! Oh, God! Have mercy on us!! Truly 2 Chronicles 7:14 and prayer is critical in our response…. BUT MLK’s words should jolt us–who have been desensitized to any legalized abortion–to conspicuous and overt action and witness…even though we know God, and our Lord Jesus, is our only hope for any change in our country!! Martin Luther King, Jr’s words (based on Scripture) in the face of this should seriously convict us!!

Don’t give up on the church, Christ died for it.
Make a path of love for the outsider to walk on without judging or compromising.

A Psalm 2 crisis requires a Joel 2 response which will bring an Acts outpouring. If my people, who are
called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then
I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.(1 Chron. 7:14). May our hearts be broken before the One who heals…

I believe the Lion of Judah (JESUS) stands over the United States of America, on the four corners of this Nation. He is a refuge to his children. The roar of God is going across our nation; the roar of God’s heart is being released. The LORD laughs at his enemies. The laugh of VICTORY goes out over the USA. The King of glory is stepping in.
Keep the faith and press into God Almighty. Be intercessors for your country. Fight the good fight of faith and endure to the end. Amen!

Thank you for that image..seeing God as a roaring lion ready to wake his people up. We have been so timid,I have been so timid!

Yes, God’s people who mean well are very timid. The churches in general are not teaching their congregations to get out there and fight, and that is what we have to do. We have the power and authority that Jesus gave us but most of us do not know it. Learn about it and start using it and we will have great success.Start listening to John Hagee on Sunday afternoons, and other preachers like him. Time is short.

Sorry, I only know of one person doing the work of God Almighty that is go into all the world and make disciple, it doesn’t say converts, that word disciple does not means going to church on Sunday, unless it is a church were everyone has a song, hymn, a word, a teaching, and maybe even a psalm much like a prophecy. Please name those who personally disciple door to door or car to car. 1 Cor 14:26

26 What is it then, brethren? When ye come together, each one hath a psalm, hath a teaching, hath a revelation, hath a tongue, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.

Matt 28:19

19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations…

I love the Lord’s command to make disciples of himself. As a child we were taught that in Missions organizations. My heart breaks, too, at the way we dismiss the bad behavior and hate spewing in our country as ‘them.’ If we don’t stand against it we are as much as for it.

My husband and I were talking about this very thing this morning. He pointed out that churches that speak truth are filled to overflowing. Those that do not are empty. In their hearts as well as their pews. I think God he sent us to a church where the pews are full. Where the ministers speak out in love. Where the work of the church is love to the larger community. I grew up in that kind of church. I thank God that. No matter what mistakes and sins I’ve committed, Jesus has always covered me and pulled me back to safety. I want that for others. I do what I can do through the strength He gives me to be the light He’s asked me to be. There are many more than we think walking in light. Community with them is the way we make disciples. We cannot do that alone.

May believers wake up and start fighting for our rights. The left are so underhanded and evil. We must overcome and get out there, or do some work on our computers to fight for our rights. We must NOT stay silent. It does not work. I am in my eighties and cannot get out there anymore, but I have a lot to say to our representatives, and responses such as this, and also to my friends. SPEAK UP for what is right!
