“People continued to throw glass and plastic bottles at police. People with ‘press’ written on their outer garments [indicating journalists] repeatedly threw objects at officers,” the bureau said.

An attempt to interfere with law enforcement operations by driving a car slowly in front of officers ended after officers deflated the vehicle’s tires. . . .

When the crowd was dispersed away from the building, police disengaged and returned to the Penumbra Kelly Building, but a large portion of the mob circled back toward the building.

Police met the crowd again and began dispersing it. During this time, individuals with “press” written on their clothes again joined rioters in hurling projectiles at police. Police dispersed the crowd again, and the mob didn’t return to the building. . . .

Demonstrators in Portland, Oregon, hurled glass bottles and pointed lasers at police officers late on Aug. 1, prompting the declaration of an unlawful assembly and two arrests.

The city has been the scene of nightly unrest since May.

Riots continue night after night in Portland. Don’t miss the IFA First Friday Prayer Conference Call! In addition to special guest John Guandolo, intercessors from Austin, Texas will share how prayer effectively stopped riots there. You won’t want to miss this month’s call.

A group of about 200 people gathered on Aug. 1 in Laurelhurst Park, several miles east of downtown, where the Mark O. Hatfield Courthouse and the Justice Center have repeatedly been targeted during riots. The crowd marched, blocking traffic, about a mile east to the Penumbra Kelly Building, which houses law enforcement offices, before using vehicles to block East Burnside Street while shining bright lights, including lasers, at Portland police officers standing outside the building. . . .

“A person in the crowd threw a glass jar or bottle filled with paint, which struck a Portland Police officer in the head. The officer was not injured,” the Portland Police Bureau said in an incident summary.

Because the mob declined to disperse, continuing to hurl projectiles, police declared an unlawful assembly and forced rioters to disperse.

The unrest came several days after city and state officials reached an agreement with the Trump administration that Oregon troopers would help quell the rioting. State and city officials failed to end the violence for weeks, and rioters started damaging the courthouse in early July. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) sent assets to the city to help protect the courthouse and other federal properties, eventually erecting a fence around the building that has mostly stymied rioters. . . .

The following evening, little law enforcement presence was seen. Demonstrators set fires and tried to take down the fence, but mostly milled about and listened to speeches.

“After weeks of violent rioting and nightly attacks, federal officers in Portland saw their first night of state and local law enforcement support and relative peace,” DHS said in a statement.

In the early hours on Aug. 1, demonstrators damaged property and set fires, burning American flags and Bibles. Again, little law enforcement presence was visible, and no arrests were made. The police bureau described the crowd as “subdued.” DHS said activity around the courthouse continued “in an overall trend of diminishing violence as a result of the increased cooperation between state and federal law enforcement.”

“While the violence is abating, DHS’s enhanced presence on the ground will remain for the time being until the Department determines that the courthouse and other federal property are safe,” it said in a summary of the nightly activity.

On recent nights, crowd size has dwindled from the thousands who gathered on some nights last month.

In Jesus’ Name Heavenly Father, thank you for report there has been less violence in some sectors. I pray for safety and protection for our police. I pray for the safety of all peaceable citizens across the nation in
cities experiencing looting, rioting, anarchy, rebellion, revolution. In Jesus powerful Name, I rebuke uncontrolled anger and hatred motivating those who have no respect for law and order, or rights of others.
Discourage and disperse those who are threatening our communities. I ask for Your grace and mercy to extinguish the fires of rebellion. May leadership in every city of America stand strong for law, order, justice. Thank You for Your longsuffering in the face of disobedience towards You. Have mercy, Lord.

Amen

Father, I ask for peace in my city, for in its peace is our peace (Jer 29:7). I ask You release wisdom and leadership in Washington DC, Seattle, Oakland, Atlanta, Portland, Los Angeles, Jacksonville, Chicago, Sacramento, Minneapolis, NYC, Dallas, San Francisco, Houston, Philadelphia, Miami, Baltimore, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Boston, New Orleans, Raleigh, Charlotte, Hartford, Providence, Denver, Bakersfield, Kansas City, St Louis, Detroit and the cities, states and territories around the world. We pray for the peace of our cities (Jer 29:7), all 50 states, our territories, the nation, and for the peace of Jerusalem (Ps 122:6). May our president, officials, protectors and all in authority have wisdom, strength, protection and guidance. Save them that we might live peaceful lives of dignity, which is good and acceptable in the sight of God our savior who wants all to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:1-4), in the name of Jesus, Amen.

God, we need you to touch each of the protestors and draw them into your arms.

Comment- Let’s be very careful about believing the people wearing “press” are actual legitimate press. Methinks not!

The Feds accomplished what they set out to do, they forced the local police including state police to step up and take control.

Well, the press has started the issues well, back in the last few years by allowing the media to consistently lie and misrepresent on what unfavored political figures have spoken. They have twisted factual evidence to say what the media wants the public to hear. So why not start get physically involved with the throwing of bottles and debris at officers like the paid protesters are doing. My personal suspicion is the protesters have gotten ‘official looking name tags’ to set up the media also. Just my thoughts. Too bad for Portland and the democratic party seems to favor the protesting. Eventually business and families will be moving elsewhere, regardless of which party they are linked to returning to civil law and order. I just wonder what Portland would look like as a ghost town, like in the1800’s when everybody left?

Father we know they are rebelling against your word, your word stands forever!
I pray for those, would be overwhelmed with compassion for others, and would fall on their knees and cry out to the lord your God! I decree and declare the ruach wind of God would blow in Portland and Seattle so transformation would suddenly happen and lives transformed for the love would overwhelm them!
Shift the atmosphere oh God! Real changes would manifest in the spirit!

The press is supposed to be objective and report both sides of an issue and let the readers make up their own minds, although it has been corrupted and bought many times over the history of this country. I pray that the press can again print unbiased information and let us decide for ourselves what is right.

Please continue to Pray for Portland. The have branched out to new places to protest (RIOT) in different places all over the city now. One being to close to our home in SE Portland. The East Precinct Police Department. My sister could hear the police on the loud speaker a couple miles away from her bed. We went out on the porch and prayed and texted others to pray and it all quieted down. Some of us have prodigals that may be involved in the protest. Please pray with us for them to return to Jesus with their whole hearts

Praying with you, Rhonda. In Jesus’s Name, may your prodigals return bringing new friends to the Kingdom of Light. And may the healing Light shine on Portland and overcome the darkness. Amen and Shalom….

As I have prayed for Portland and other cities experiencing violence, I have sensed again and again that there are many prodigals involved. Lord, turn their hearts back to You, give them a gift of repentance, draw them back to You with Your loving kindness. Pour out Your spirit of truth in their hearts, that they would know the truth and be set free. Give them a hunger and thirst for Your righteousness. Teach them to do justice, to love mercy and to walk humbly with their God. Breathe life into these dry bones, and inundate this land with Your Holy Spirit and your power. Sweep over our land with a spirit of revival and a great awakening. Pour out Your Spirit, Lord, that we would see Your mighty works in our day!
