I Prayed have prayed
Lord, strengthen us this year. Allow the Holy Spirit to mold us in Your image. We want to be a light in this dark world. We pray that no matter where we are or what we are doing that You would get the reward of Your suffering! God, we love You!
Reading Time: 4 minutes

“For last year’s words belong to last year’s language, and next year’s words await another voice.” ― T.S. Eliot

As 2021 came to an end, I tuned in my ear to hear the voices that would speak into 2022. I wanted to know not only what God was speaking to me personally, but also what He had to say through other trusted voices.

One night I was listening to a minister who was talking about what God had shown him for the year. As he spoke, something jumped in my spirit.  “God said there would be cities of light.  In these cities there would be little crime and little sickness, if any.”

I was hearing hope for our cities – for our nation!  How this ignited my faith!

We have all been praying for our cities consistently and for what seems like a long period of time, yet seemingly seeing little results.  But this word, quite frankly, caused me to want to pray more often and more fervently over my city.

I WANT MY CITY TO BE A CITY OF LIGHT.

A few days later, I was listening to another minister when he made a statement that stopped me in my tracks.  He said, “God said there would be cities of light, points of light and these places would be cities of intercession.”

Confirmation! This confirmed everything I was hearing in my spirit as well as what I heard an additional minister say.  There would indeed be cities of light — cities saturated in intercession. This, my friend, could be your city.

If you are a part of IFApray.org, chances are you are a dedicated intercessor.  Therefore, I am excited to share this with you today.  I also wanted to remind you, this isn’t only a word for 2022, this is actually something God has done before – it is Biblical.  God is the same, yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8.) If He has done it once, He will do it again.

So, Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings (Ex 10:22,23.)

Then Moses said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘About midnight I will go out into the midst of Egypt; and all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sits on his throne, even to the firstborn of the female servant who is behind the handmill, and all the firstborn of the animals. Then there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was not like it before, nor shall be like it again. But against none of the children of Israel shall a dog move its tongue, against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord does make a difference between the Egyptians and Israel (Ex 11:4-7.)

There are times in history when God so separated His people that their very cities were set apart.  What happened in other areas was not permitted to happen in their city because it was a city of light.  When all was dark, extremely dark in Egypt, light remained in Goshen where the people of God dwelt.  Could God do it again?  Absolutely!  Nothing is impossible with God.  And nothing is impossible to those who believe.

Light arises in the darkness for the upright (Ps 112:4.)

I love what the second minister said, “These cities of light would be cities of intercession.”

It is not time to stop praying. It is time to increase our prayers and our intercession.  It’s time to ramp it up a bit.

Intercessory prayer will change our cities and our nation!  It unleashes God’s power into our cities.  It pulls down strongholds.  It releases tremendous power, dynamic in its working.  Through intercessory prayer we can halt the plans of the enemy.  It is a mighty weapon in our hand.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds: casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor 10:3-5.)

Through intercession we can take back our cities, thereby impacting our world.  We can, through prayer, become cities of light.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:14, “For you are the light of the world.  A city set on a hill can’t be hidden.”

The word light in Strong’s Concordance is defined as a torch.  It is time to allow the torch within us to spread, to light other torches. We must reach out to our friends and neighbors in our cities and invite them to come together and pray over our cities.  Thereby, the torch will multiply as we pray, until we become cities of intercession – and cities of light.

John 1:5 says, “And the light shines on the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it” (Amplified).

My friends, it is time to allow our light to shine in the darkness, knowing the darkness cannot overpower it.  It is my prayer for you today that your city will become a city of light in the coming days of 2022.  Your city and mine. Until the light of God covers our nation.

This is very encouraging! Thank you for sharing. And the fact that “cities of Light” was confirmed to you is wonderful. God is speaking for intercession to arise by leaps and bounds. It has already began with 4 ladies in my church and we are praying for our families, the Church, our City and the nation to wake up to righteousness and pray like never before. Halleluyah!

Under Obama’s administration I was led to pray Psalms 5 on a daily basis, I’ve been reminding to begin again over this evil administration also; we are in desperate need of God’s help! Amen

Thank you, Lord, for cities of light across our nation. I declare and I decree that my city, Cape Canaveral, is a City of Light. I praise you, Father, that our city government allows us to set up a Prayer Table on the streets of our city at our monthly First Friday Festival. I give God the glory for moving in this city and giving us a new Mayor that is a Christian. We are believing that Cape Canaveral will become a city known as a city that brought Light from Heaven to earth instead of the city that sends rockets up to the heavens. America SHALL be saved. In Jesus’ Precious Name I pray.

God is moving mightily in your city! He is already answering your prayers and will do so more and more! I am eagerly waiting to hear more news from Cape Canaveral in the future, and marvelous reports of God’s amazing miracles.

God bless you all as you faithfully pray and intercede.

What an affirmation of what has been doing in my spirit. I am retired, but God is saying there is no such thing for Believers. We can always pray and have more time now than when working on a job all day. Thank You God for IFA.
For the encouragement we can share with one another.

Lord God , you have placed a desire on my heart to place protection around those I love ,our church, my neughbirs, this city that I live in that it it will stand against the darkness. Our new Government Team. Let a light on them shine so bright that it burns the eyes of the darkness. Let freedoms candle burn for all to see. Let a protection wrap our chikdren in health and the joy of being a child or a teenager with good common sense. Let us come together in this State of Virginia where all things in this country began. May the Torch of Virginia burn bright with this new Administration and let the voices they hear be guided by you Lord, our God in Heaven. Let that voice drown out all evil in Christs’ Holy Name I Pray. Amen and Amen

What an encouraging word! Yes, we will sharpen our prayer focus for our city, Olympia, Washington, to turn from darkness to light and thus light up other cities, until the nation shines.

Praise God for this article! Last night I had a dream I was in a church (old and very big) with many of my intercessor friends. The atmosphere was charged and everyone was excited. The pastor came out and started preaching on being the light of Jesus. He used 1 John 1:5-7. As an illustration, he turned off all the lights in the church at once. It was very dark. He mentioned there were 99 lights above us. When he turned them all back on I noticed the beauty of the light fixtures. Some were gold, silver, crystal, and in many sizes. The amount of light was blazing over some areas of the church while others were like they had LED bulbs that took a while to “warm up”.
As I was doing morning devotions with Ifa, I noticed this article and all I can say is AMEN! We are God’s light that shines in the darkness and the darkness CAN NOT extinguish it!

My church is having 23 hours of prayer and I signed up for the 10 am slot. I’m believing that my city, Aiken SC, is a City of Light. I am director of a 501c3 ministry for the poor and poor in spirit. I’m believing that God will continue to make a way to bring Light and Life and Love to this community through His children who cry out to Him.

What perfect timing (God’s) that I should read this as I prepare to walk the neighborhood streets of my inner city church with others this morning to pray for those that live in our church’s neighborhood and to pray for our city. These words are just the encouragement, inspiration and reminder that I need to “not grow weary in doing good” because at the proper time “we will reap a harvest.” I am part of a prayer group – Intercessors for Indy, our purpose – to intercede for our city, asking God’s presence, protection, peace, praying against the violence taking so many lives. We truly want our city to be a city of God’s light. thank you for this call to remain faithful, even when it seems to us things are not getting better – God is at work! http://www.mtothe5th.wordpress.com

As I read this article, the Spirit of the Lord has inspired me to give out light bulbs, with Matthew 5;14 attached, to share with people in my city, to remind them that we who know truth, are called to be the Light of Christ and pray.
Believing our weapons of prayer are more mighty than the enemy. God has delivered us before, He will do it again!
In Christ’s powerful name!

Years ago I saw a map of the United States and on it were points of light that I saw as flames. Then a mighty wind cane from the west and caught each of these flames and the result was a mighty fire that covered all of the United States
I was made aware that these were cities that had turned to God and were willing to stand for Him especially when it came to their laws.
