Governor Glenn Youngkin placed faith and prayer in the spotlight throughout his inauguration on Saturday, January 15 in Richmond, Virginia. I have witnessed many inauguration ceremonies where faith and prayer were incorporated. Governor Youngkin demonstrated a deeply personal commitment to prayer throughout his inauguration. Personally, this was exceptional to witness as prayer was emphasized from the beginning to the end of these ceremonies.
Inauguration morning began with the Spirit of Faith Prayer Breakfast at the Jefferson Hotel in Richmond. The two-hour program began with several worship songs such as How Great Thou Art and You Are My Vision. Four members of the Governors Faith Coalition from each quadrant of the state then offered prayers for his administration. Governor Youngkin incorporate four interfaith members to pray.
The program continued with the song Lord, I Need You. Then colleagues of the Governor offered personal testimonies about the Governor-Elect. The theme of the inauguration weekend was “Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia Together.”
The highlight of the inauguration for me was newly sworn in Governor Youngkin leading A Prayer for the Commonwealth, standing on the steps of the Capitol with the new Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General and their spouses, hand in hand praying, heads bowed, before thousands gathered for his inauguration. Youngkin opened the prayer as follows, “My fellow Virginians. There’s no way to embark on what’s in front of us without asking for help …. Join us please in a moment, a prayer for the Commonwealth.”
“Heavenly Father, we lift our eyes up to the hills. Where does our help come from? Our help comes from you, maker of heaven and earth.
Father, as we embark on these next four years, we ask you to guide our steps so that they are your steps. We ask you to bless our words so they speak your heart, not ours. Father, we ask you to give us the strength to do the work that needs to be done. We ask you to soften our hearts so that we can see the good in everyone.
Father, we invite you into the next four years. Bring Virginians together – Virginians of all faiths, of all walks of life, from every corner. From the coal fields of western Virginia, to the beaches of my home, to memorials that represent so many fallen across this Commonwealth. Father, we ask for your help.
We thank you for today, we thank you for the hope and optimism represented by this movement that has brought us all here together. Finally, Father, we pray all this in your son Jesus Christ’s name, Amen. Let’s go to work.”
Would you join Governor Youngkin in prayer for the future of the commonwealth of Virginia? After the inauguration ceremony and parade, the Governor went tight to work, signing eleven executive actions. Two of them prohibit the teaching of “inherently divisive concepts,” including critical race theory; and stop the a state-issued vaccine mandate and enforcement of mask mandates. American Family News reported Youngkin released this statement: “The important steps we are taking today begins the work of restoring excellence in education, making our communities safer, opening Virginia for business and reinvigorating job growth, and making government work for the people, and not the other way around.”

May the words of Gov Youngkin.’s inaugural address ring clearly throughout VA & the entire USA: “AMAZING PEOPLE, JOIN US PLEASE IN A MOMENT OF PRAYER FOR THE COMMONWEALTH. HEAVENLY FATHER. WE LIFT OUR EYES UP TO THE HILLS. WHERE DOES OUR HELP COME FROM? OUR HELP COMES FROM YOU. FATHER, AS WE EMBARK ON THESE NEXT FOUR YEARS, WE ASK YOU TO GUIDE OUR STEPS SO THAT THEY ARE YOUR STEPS. WE ASK YOU TO GIVE US THE STRENGTH TO DO THE WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE.” Thank you Father God for leading Gov. Youngkin, his family, LT. Such a beautiful prayer, these three newly elected officials give hope to us all, no matter which state we live in, that individuals of faith in God are out there ready and willing to serve our country during these difficult times. I am filled with hope and gratitude to God for placing these three in the positions He did, “for such a time as this.” From our founding, prayer has always been a part of our public life as a nation because we were founded on belief in God and the belief that all our blessings as a nation come from Him – the Giver of every good gift. Father, thank you for this new administration. Give them strength and favor and wisdom as they serve you. May they continue to look to you and not themselves for their decision making. Protect them and their families. May your grace for righteousness be over Virginia and may it stand for your righteousness.
Heavenly Father please watch over our new Governor, LT Governor and Attorney General and guide them to make decisions for our state that are in line with your teachings. I pray for your protection from their enemies who will try to undermine them every step of the way. Bring truth to light and expose the evil that has been running our state.

Lord, I thank you for this demonstration of faith in the top elected officials in VA. I pray that the hearts of all Virginians would be moved by the governor’s call to seek you. May our nation also be moved to seek you. Have mercy on us. Please bring us as a nation back to the roots of faith that built America and made her strong and good.
I have been very encouraged by Youngkin and his deputy governor’s victory, and now by their inauguration. I agreed completely with his prayer, also adding “wisdom” to the requested help from God.
I just learned today that Glen Youngkin is on the Board of Directors for the Museum of the Bible! This is a man whose faith is clearly a lifestyle not a religion! May God bless his leadership of Virginia!
Having lived long ago in Arlington, Virgina, during high school and college (VA Commonwealth U) I have a love for Virginia. Some of my family still live in Richmond and Northern VA area. Im so thankful for the new Gov, Lt Gov, and Attny Gen and their colleagues who honor the LORD, depend upon Him for the Prosperity and good work for the people of VA. God Bless you as you all seek the LORD, and received all He has for you to govern well.
There is truly something special about the new administration. I can sense it deep within. And I cannot help but sense that God will do some mighty acts and restoration through that administration. For whatever reason, I have a vision that Winsome Sears will figure prominently into not only the future of VA but of the United States.
Let us be vigilant in praying for both God’s purpose to be carried out as well as protection for them as they heed His voice.
I’m from a different state but I am so excited to see a man of God like Mr. Youngkin be voted into such an important office of government in one of our United States! Praise God! I thank the Lord for such brave and bold leaders as this. May we the people continue this year to vote for Biblical principles in our leaders.
Oh Father in Heaven, we thank you for this beautiful faith-filled inauguration in Virginia. We pray for your blessings on them as they work first and foremost for you and secondly for the people of Virginia. We pray they will set an example of who ‘We The People’ want to govern us and that they will stay the course. We pray for America who has seemingly lost the way. That we will return to your Word and place our trust back in You. Praise your Holy Name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for placing a Godly man such as Glenn Youngkin as the governor of Virginia. May all that he does in this capacity be led by and be pleasing to You. Father, I ask that other governors follow his example by listening to You. Specifically, I ask that Georgia‘s governor, Brian Kemp, sees how Gov. Youngkin follows you as he leads his state and will do likewise as You lead him. I believe that Gov. Kemp is a good man who needs to be more bold in his faith. Lord, for our children’s sake, help him do that. Father, it is in Your Son’s name that I ask these things. I love You so. Thank You. Amen.
Thank you Lord for raising up faithful servants like the new Governor, Lt. Governor and AG as You did in Virginia. We pray You give them Your strength to stand up against against the vipers that will come against them. We ask that You hand would sweep across this nation to allow more of Your servants to serve. Dear Lord as this administration in Virginia goes before the people and has quite a great deal of opposition I pray that you would protect his family and his life. I pray that you would continue to inspire him with godly ideas on how to lead and lead well. I pray for those around him to give wise counsel and instruction. I pray that he would be bold no matter what is coming against him. I pray for your blessing in every area of his life mentally, physically, emotionally, & spiritually. I pray for his example to be followed by many others throughout our nation that would take the role of leader ship seriously as they stand before man and God. I pray that she would rise up more leaders that would be equipped to stand in the end times that we are seeing now in their positions wholeheartedly giving themselves to you. God, please do in other states what You have done in Virginia!!!! Yes LORD, REVEAL YOURSELF in other states. Angels shred every platform on every evil that is rearing it’s ugly head. Please take down these principalities and witches. Replace them with your Kingdom purposes. We TRUST all this in Your Name and by Your powerful BLOOD! Amen and Amen.

Dear Lord and God, we give all thanks and glory to You for such God loving people to be heading the state of Virginia. Please, let all our states have these types running them and leading them in prayers and glory to You, in the name of Jesus we pray. Amen
I am amazed at what God can do when we pray. what a blessing to see all the good things happening in Virginia. It really gives hope and encouragement to the rest of the country . We really need to continue
to pray for all our government and educational leaders.
Lord Thank You for giving Virginia such Godly leadership they are so blessed! I pray now for my State of Minnesota that we will elect Dr Scott Jensen as our next Governor!

As I read this, great joy sprang from my spirit to give thanks to God for lifting up such a Godly man to be Governor, and a Godly Woman as Lieutenant Governor, and a Godly Man to serve as Attorney General in Virginia. I join hundreds of thousands around our nation to ask God to grant them strength, grace, peace and knowledge to give guidance and direction to the people of Virginia. This is happening because God is answering the prayers of His people. Thank You Lord! This I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen!

Dear Lord as you have promised us in 2nd Chronicles 7:13-14, I pray we, “your people” will humble ourselves, and pray to you Almighty God, seek you face, and turn from our wicked ways in enough intensity and quantity that you will hear from heaven, and forgive our sin, and heal our land.
I am a missionary in Japan, but I have been registered to vote in Virginia for many years, and do so in every federal election (which is all I’m allowed to do by law). I didn’t get to vote for Glen Youngkin, but I certainly prayed him into office! And I will continue to pray for him and his administration as they counter many entrenched forces of evil. Father, may Your name be acknowledged as holy and Your authority and Lordship be established as Your will is done in Virginia, as perfectly as it is in heaven. Amen!
Praise Jesus! I am crying tears of joy and I feel the Holy Spirit so close, telling me that God has heard our prayers and our prayers are being answered.
Thank you, Father, for answering our prayers. I know that you are working thru Governor Youngkin, LT Governor Sears, and Attorney General Jason Mijares. Some people say they won because of their stand on education in Virginia but I believe God blessed us in spite of ourselves. I can see God at work in Virginia and our country and I am grateful.

Dear Father, Thank you for answering our prayers for Virginia by giving us Governor Youngkin, Lt. Governor Sears, and Attorney General Miyares. We pray your blessing on each one, including protection from all power and attacks of the evil one. Keep them focused on you. Let them hear and obey your Holy Spirit. Encourage each one; give each one godly advisors. Keep them from pride or complacency. I pray each will walk humbly with you, and you will be their strong Tower and Defender. We pray these people will lead Virginia to be a people who serve you, a pro-life, pro-family state that is an example to the entire nation. Let us be a blessed Commonwealth whose God is the Lord.
