I Prayed have prayed
Pray: Father God, we ask today in Jesus’ name that You would rise up and scatter Your enemies. Defend and protect all those You have anointed and called to defend this nation. Let justice roll down like a mighty river, and vindicate those who have walked in Your integrity.
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Friend, are you fed up with daily headlines that trumpet far and wide how the wicked can oppress the righteous without retribution? I know I am. Like many, I want to see justice come to the wicked and vindication to the righteous!

But do we have biblical basis to pray for such? Absolutely, yes!

God’s Word promises us that He will reverse unjust situations. And in case your faith is waning, let’s look at a few Scriptures that will build our collective faith that God not only can intervene, but desires to intervene and will intervene:

  • Let God arise, let His enemies be scattered; let those also who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God; yes, let them rejoice exceedingly (Psalm 68:1-3 NKJV).
  • But let justice run down like water, and righteousness like a mighty stream (Amos 5:24 NKJV).
  • You have a mighty arm; strong is Your hand, and high is Your right hand. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; mercy and truth go before Your face (Psalm 89:13-14 NKJV).
  • Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord (Romans 12:19 NKJV).

It may seem like the wicked keep winning. But the Word of God is true.

And we read in Psalm 37:

Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb (Psalm 37:1-2 NKJV).

That same chapter says also that the Lord is LAUGHING at the wicked, for He sees that their day (of justice) is coming. It also says that the sword of the wicked will enter their own heart, and their bows will be broken.

Would you join together with me in praying for JUSTICE to come to the wicked today, and for the Lord to vindicate the righteous?

Let’s pray as follows:

“Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You in Jesus’ name. And we thank You that You are great and mighty; You are God Most High, the One True God. You are God who hears and answers prayers, and You and You alone sit above the circle of the earth to govern it.

Abba Father, we remind you today that You are the One who raises up kings and brings them down (Psalm 75). You hold all governments and entities on the earth in Your hands. Therefore, we come boldly before Your throne of grace, where we may obtain mercy and grace to help in time of need.

Dear Lord God of Heaven:

  • We ask You today in Jesus’ name that You would rise up and scatter Your enemies.
  • We ask that You would mandate and enforce a cease-and-desist against the wicked, in all their tormenting of the righteous.
  • We also ask that You would rise up and defend the righteous by Your Holy Spirit, for Your Spirit is our Helper, Advocate, Paraclete, and Attorney. You are the best Attorney around, and we need You right now.

Father, we ask together that You would utterly defeat the enemy.

We acknowledge that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers and rulers of this present darkness. So we trust Your Spirit to interpret and apply that prayer rightly, as only You can do. But we do ask in Jesus’ name:

  • that You would bring the judgment day of the wicked upon them;
  • that You would take vengeance on behalf of the righteous; and
  • that You would let the bows and swords of the wicked enter their own hearts and be broken, while the righteous go free.

Vindicate the righteous, O God:

  • Vindicate all those who have walked in their integrity.
  • Let the cases against them disintegrate like the smoke that they are.
  • Let punitive damages be awarded and paid to the righteous for their trouble.
  • Promote the righteous because of the battles they have had to fight.
  • Double and triple Your angelic assistance toward the righteous; move and shake Heaven and Earth on their behalf.

Father, we insist right now in the matchless name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that You would exalt righteousness in America and dethrone wickedness.

We ask You to do it, and we insist in faith by asking repeatedly, just like the persistent widow of Luke chapter 18. Jesus, You will find faith on the earth, for You will find it in us by Your grace. We believe that righteousness and justice are the foundations of Your throne, and we believe that Your Word is true.

Abba Father, we echo Your own pure words: Let God be true and every man a liar. Rise up, O God, and judge the wicked while vindicating the righteous. Get us justice from our adversaries, O righteous Judge of all the earth. And spare Your people and bless Your heritage while You bear us up forever.

Thank You, Lord God. We bless Your name and thank You for hearing and answering our prayers. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen and amen.”

20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto God the Lord belong the issues from death.

21 But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.

22 The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea:

23 That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.

24 They have seen thy goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.

25 The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels.

26 Bless ye God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel.

27 There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.

28 Thy God hath commanded thy strength: strengthen, O God, that which thou hast wrought for us.

29 Because of thy temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents unto thee.

30 Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter thou the people that delight in war.

31 Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands unto God.

32 Sing unto God, ye kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises unto the Lord; Selah:

33 To him that rideth upon the heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.

34 Ascribe ye strength unto God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.

35 O God, thou art terrible out of thy holy places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto his people. Blessed be God

Many of the scriptures in Psalms speaks to a time where David’s enemies were attempting to literally kill him and derail the redemptive plan that God had for His people. We understand who (satan) was behind the plan then and who is behind the current plan. It’s time for God’s people to wake up with righteous indignation and acknowledge that the enemy is out to destroy you and you can play footsies with him and be destroyed or used your spiritual armor and defeat his plans for total destruction of God’s people. The battle has already been won but we have to enter the fight.

Father God, wake up those still sleeping, open their eyes to the real battle that is before them to understand the ramifications of ‘playing/praying it safe.” May they be willing to enter the battlefield on behalf of saving souls and defeating the plans of the enemy. In Jesus Name, we pray,

Also to go along with Psalms 75, Daniel 2:21 He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.

So true, I have been praying Psalms 68:1 for about 3 weeks now. Here is also part of my prayer.
Father I bring the United States of America before the throne of God.
I say, Let God Arise in this nation and let your enemies be scattered. Psalms 68:1
Wake up (arouse/raise up) out of your slumber, let this nation and it’s people lay aside (renounce/put away) the deeds of darkness and put on the amour of light. Romans 13:11-13

Yes, we should all be praying for injustice to end. However, the temptation to want to see the wicked punished – not just the injustice end – is great. While praying fervently for the end to injustice, we must also be careful not to turn this into a judgmental exercise in vengeance. God is the judge, not people. If vengeance is to happen, it is God’s job to administer it, not people’s. Jesus forgave those who crucified Him. Forgiveness does not mean acquiescing to injustice – it means giving up the desire to take satisfaction in seeing another punished. The Lord is just and the Lord is merciful and the Lord sees what we cannot. The Lord does not cater to the human desire to feel good (righteous, powerful, or…)by seeing another suffer.

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

    Rachael,
The Holy Spirit gave me this short prayer-poem years ago. It is useful for applying the Armour of God to start the day…
First the helmet of salvation purchased with Christ’s precious blood

Next the breastplate of righteousness woven with His love

Then the belt of truth to keep me safe from satan’s vicious lies

And the shield of faith for from the tomb my Savior did arise

Then the shoes of peace so I may run where others fear to trod

And carry forth my two-edged sword the awesome Word of God

(Matthew Henry’s commentaries describe the sword mentioned in Armour of God scriptures as identical to the knife used by the priest to carve the offerings.)

David truly knew what injustice was, and several of his songs can be prayers. We have been dealing with an unjust situation, and because we are in our 70’s – we’re praying Psa. 71, which adds phrases like, “Don’t reject me when I am old; when my strength fails, don’t abandon me.” “So now that I’m old, and my hair is gray, don’t abandon me, God till I have proclaimed Your strength to the next generation, Your power to all who will come, . . .” In a nutshell verses 4-6 express, “My God, help me escape from the power of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and ruthless. For You are my hope, Adonai Elohim, in whom I have trusted since I was young.” You are faithful in all Your ways, and I trust You.

Our Heavenly Father, We come to Your Throne of Grace to receive help in time of need. Open our eyes LORD GOD to catch a glimpse of Your mighty angels around Your throne with the beautiful rainbow above. Grant us the grace to see how tiny man is but how altogether lovely and Almighty YOU are. We thank YOU for our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life for us. And we thank YOU FATHER that the whole world is in YOUR hand. Deliver us today OUR FATHER from the wicked one and destroy all his schemes and forgive those who are being led astray by him. Open their eyes OUR FATHER and help them to realize the error of their ways before it is too late. Grant all of YOUR children the wisdom and all the lawful methods to put an end to all wickedness in high places. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Abba Father, your servant David approached your throne with this heartfelt prayer. We echo his plea on behalf of all how are unjustly oppressed by spiritual forces of darkness.
Psalm 35
“1 Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me!
2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help!
3 Draw out also the spear and javelin and close up the way of those who pursue and persecute me. Say to me, I am your deliverance!
4 Let them be put to shame and dishonor who seek and require my life; let them be turned back and confounded who plan my hurt!
5 Let them be as chaff before the wind, with the “Angel of the Lord driving them on!
6 Let their way be through dark and slippery places, with the Angel of the Lord pursuing and afflicting them.
7 For without cause they hid for me their net; a pit of destruction without cause they dug for my life.
8 Let destruction befall [my foe] unawares; let the net he hid for me catch him; let him fall into that very destruction.
With David, Father we bless your mighty hand of protection!
“9 Then I shall be joyful in the Lord; I shall rejoice in His deliverance.
10 All my bones shall say, Lord, who is like You, You Who deliver the poor and the afflicted from him who is too strong for him, yes, the poor and the needy from him who snatches away his goods?”
Amen and Amen
