Support for Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government has continued to decline among Americans, with an apparent generational shift emerging among Republicans over the issue, according to a recent poll.

An Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research survey of 3,040 U.S. adults last month found that about a third of them, including about half of Democrats, believe Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians since the Hamas terrorist attack against them on Oct. 7, 2023.

The attack, which killed approximately 1,200 mostly civilian Israelis, prompted a retaliatory response from Israel against Hamas in Gaza, which led to more than 70,000 Palestinian deaths, according to figures from the Hamas-run Gazan Ministry of Health that were reportedly confirmed by Israeli military officials earlier this year.

While young Republicans are still much more pro-Israel than young Democrats, they are less uniformly supportive than older Republicans, according to the AP poll that recorded genocide perceptions, views on U.S. aid levels and favorability toward Netanyahu.

Only 13% of Republicans described Israel’s actions against Palestinians as genocide, though the poll showed a growing generational divergence that indicates softening support and greater criticism toward Israel among those under 45.

Approximately two in 10 Republicans under 45 claim Israel has committed genocide against Palestinians, compared to about one in 10 Republicans aged 45 and older.

Republicans under 45 are also more likely than older Republicans to say the U.S. is “too supportive” of Israel, with younger Republicans also more likely to tilt unfavorably in their opinions of Netanyahu.

Sixty percent of Republicans overall described U.S. support for Israel as “about right,” though the poll found that the number of Republicans who say the U.S. is “not supportive enough” has declined from 39% to 15% since 2024.

The new AP poll shows trends that have been reflected in other polls conducted in recent months, such as a Pew Research Center survey released in April that found 60% of U.S. adults have an unfavorable view of Israel.

A majority of Jewish Americans and white Evangelicals continued to hold generally positive opinions of the country, according to the Pew survey, though 70% of those aged 18-49, including 57% of Republicans in that age bracket, had an unfavorable view.

A poll from NBC News in March found support for Israel has declined among all age groups since 2023, with the sharpest decline taking place among those aged 18-34, almost two-thirds of whom expressed a “negative” view of the country.

In what NBC described as a “sea change” regarding voters’ opinions on the topic at the time, the poll of 1,000 registered voters conducted from Feb. 27 through March 3 found that 63% of voters under age 35 have a negative view of Israel, compared to just 13% who have a positive view and 23% who hold a neutral view.

A shift also appears to have taken place among young American Evangelicals, with the number who support Israel and see it as crucial to the End Times steadily declining even before the war in Gaza, according to a series of surveys in the 2023 book Christian Zionism in the Twenty-First Century: American Evangelical Opinion on Israel.

Experts who spoke to The Christian Post in 2024 offered various explanations for such a trend among Evangelical young people, ranging from the antisemitic influence of cultural Marxism in U.S. universities to increased exposure to Christian eschatology that differs from premillennial dispensationalism, which emphasizes the role of modern Israel in the latter days.

The contingency for being God’s chosen people has always been a requirement to honor His holy name. With the arrival of Christ, receiving His Gospel is the only way. Sadly, 80% of modern Israelis are secularists – mostly Ashkenazis. This is why they relish gay pride, abortion on demand, and forced vaccines – in their culture of destruction. Israel’s survival has only been possible by America’s funding of their existence – despite their refusal to honor the living God. Our prayers should be for their repentance and salvation through Yeshua – the prince of peace!

Charlie Kirk: “Jewish donors have been the number one funding mechanism of radical, open border, neoliberal, quasi-Marxist policies, cultural institutions and nonprofits.”

Deuteronomy 7:6 “For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His prized possession, above all peoples on the face of the earth.”

2 Chronicles 7:11-16

1 Corinthians 3: 16-17 Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s sanctuary and that the Spirit of God lives in you? If anyone destroys God’s sanctuary, God will destroy him; for God’s sanctuary is holy, and that is what you are.

I have always been skeptical of polls especially in light of what is written in His Word…..The term “treasured possession”… reflects the special relationship between God and His chosen people….used to describe Israel’s unique status among the nations, as well as the intimate and covenantal bond between God and His people… rooted in…divine election and covenant, emphasizing God’s sovereign choice and the distinct identity of His people. In the New Testament, “treasured possession,” is expanded to include all believers in Christ, both Jew and Gentile. The Apostle Peter, writes in 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” biblehub.com

Dear Heavenly Father, You are the One God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit who calls Israel, ”Your treasured possession” and due to Jesus’ atoning sacrifice, all who confess Him as Savior are now included in that wonderful title…Gentile and Jew, we share an indivisible bond in Christ. I pray You will continue to draw all people to Your Word to draw them to the TRUTH. I thank You for all who are currently praying for Israel as I believe Israel’s true “Iron Dome” is not man made but the covering of all the prayers of all the believers (worldwide) who are praying for Israel’s safety and salvation. I do not believe polls but I do believe You and You say, “IF my people who are called by My Name…we are. You say, “I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.” Thank You LORD and Savior. May countless be drawn to Your Truth, to Your Way, and to The Life that You offer us in Christ alone. Bring the deniers to acceptance. Bring the haters to love. Bring all of Israel to confess and praise the Name of Yeshua Hamashiach and as for those who profess to be Christians but hate Israel, have Your way LORD. I am asking in His Great Name. Amen

DIFFICULT PATHS MADE SMOOTH—-One og God’s plans is that HE will smooth out the rough places in life that pose difficulty for HIS people. God will make a way HE has promised if we pray -we will need to rely on our hearts and minds/HOLY SPIRIT every single day. I do know GOD picked Netanyaha to work with Present Trump. ” The
Prime Minister quotes scripture from the Bible , His most notable scripture is: Behold the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion ; HE shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.” God wants us to bond together with the JEWISH Nation, with His chosen. The enemy loves to present us with challenges that look unsolvable. But we have to trust God’s promises that HE will endure that our pathway is clear. “Isaiah 45-2 says’ I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron.” Many people do not understand -the wording in the Bible ” God’s chosen people” was reflected on this reference it primarily refers to the ancient Israelites, but now it expands in the New Testament to includ all believers in Jesus Christ. In the New Testament this title applies to a community of Christians -‘ 1-Peter 2-9″ ” But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood , an holynation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvellous LIGHT. V. 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of GOD: 1st Peter is a book that as you read gives insight to Christians where God spoke. WE have the Holy Spirit in us as Christians – as we pray He will direct us, give us guidance, wisdom as we declare the pathways are clear and know which roads to follow. God will remove obstacles that tries to stand in our way. I pray for our Jewish bro. and sisters they are Gds chosen, but so are we His Children. 2 Corinthians -5-20 ‘ We are therefore Christs ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. As ambassadors, our lives speak on GOD’S BEHALF. ” Be blessed pray for our Jewish brothers, sisters. and Netanyahu.
