I Prayed have prayed
Reading Time: 3 minutes

I wrote this admonition at the beginning of last year and it is still pertinent for today. Sometimes, it’s not always the “next new thing” that we should be looking for, but those foundational truths that stand the test of time and secure our inheritance for years to come…

Sometimes, the best things take time. Lots of time. Even as we hope for those “suddenlies” and miraculous successes, the reality is that God often calls us to persevere for the long haul. It’s at these times of seeming inactivity in the midst of the battle that our faith is truly tested. Not the amount of faith, but the kind of faith required to change a generation. It is a persevering faith that contends for something much bigger than the challenges at hand.

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. (Hebrews 10:36 ESV)

While we can ponder and pray into another word for the year, God is looking for those with the faith to believe something for the next ten – or twenty. Can we champion something that may take years to establish? Can we dare to be the ones who wait before the Lord, patiently keeping the fire burning and the vision alive so that those who follow us can live and walk in the promises we’ve been given?

Jesus said in Luke 18:8, “… when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on earth?” What kind of faith is this? I believe it is the faith of Abraham that contends for a legacy. It is a persevering belief that defies logic and personal disappointment to hold out for something beyond ourselves. The reality is, it’s not just about us anymore. What is happening in the world around us is about future generations and who they will become.

For I have chosen him, that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has promised him. (Gen 18:19 ESV)

Scripture doesn’t tell us what Abraham did in the decades between receiving the word of the Lord and its fulfillment. All we know is that when the time came, Abraham heard and obeyed because he caught the vision of God’s heart for a future generation.

How does persevering faith work? It holds on when things are bleak and the breakthroughs don’t come. It stays the course when others are turning to the left and right. It doesn’t cave in to pressure or bow to the fear of man. It boldly declares the principles and foundations of faith so that others can build on them. It keeps moving forward, regardless of setbacks and loss. This is what persevering faith does. This is what building a legacy looks like.

Abraham received a promise that took three generations to establish. The son born of his old age was only the beginning of seeding a nation through decades of tests, trials, and personal failures. Because he never wavered and contended for his children, he left a mark that not only bred a God-fearing people but became a prophetic signpost for those called to father nations.

I will surely bless you…And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies. (Gen 22:17)

It’s time for believers to rise up and be counted among the faithful ones who contend for a legacy. Do not waver. Do not give up. Believe for the best and be willing to wait for it. Stand with God’s covenant and persist in your prayers, your proclamations, and your demonstrations of faith. This generation has been called to possess the gates of the enemy, but it will require persevering faith to see it established. Don’t even think of quitting or taking a back seat. Dare to stand in the covenant and contend for a legacy. It will be worth the wait.

Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.  And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. (Heb 10:23-24)

Thank you Wanda for your encouraging, confirming word to the body of intercessors for the new year. Thank you for anchoring us in God’s Word and the example of Abraham. Thank you for calling us to focus on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith and not on ourselves and our efforts. It is Jesus who ever lives to make intercession for us and the Holy Spirit who helps us in our weakness by interceding for us with groans too deep for words. Together we are part of something bigger than ourselves as the Lord builds His Kingdom in and through us.

Thank you our Sister Wanda for so many times it’s so easy for us to be short sighted. Thank you for sharing what the Lord has shared with you. We are so blessed with this ministry.

Thank you, Wanda. This is so true. It reminds me of what the tour guide told us when we toured the “Minster”,a huge gorgeous stone cathedral in York, England.
He said one generation began building it but then they died. Their children then continued to build it but did not finish before they also died. It was the third generation, the grandchildren of the people who started it,
who finally completed the work.

Then, during World War II, their descendants were afraid the Nazi’s would bomb and destroy the cathedral, so they removed the extremely large stained glass windows and hid them in barns.
After the war they re-installed the beautiful windows.
I pray that we will instill in our children and grandchildren such a love and devotion to Jesus and His Kingdom that they will also pray and live and complete the work we are in, to restore America to God’s perfect plan for our nation.

Lord I hold on to You and Your word. Heavenly Father even though sometimes things look bleak I keep my heart focused on You daily. You have blessed me so much. I take that as a sign that I will continue to hope for my sister Linda’s salvation and the salvation of many across America. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Thank you Wanda for the wisdom you impart to us. Dear Lord give us the ability to withstand discouragement, to praise You at all times, good and bad. Help us understand how to walk in the Spirit and not our own desires. Help those of us that have relied on self dependence to get through life and succeed, to ween from the self and depend on You. Help us to see as You see. Make us all long suffering in this world that supposedly has an answer for everything under the sun, but is like a maze that leads to know where. Give us peace and contentment in our current state, and give us vision for the future. Help us live by faith and not by our current circumstance. Use our sufferings as a crucible is used to purify gold.

When we except Christ and he places us in his family we have eternal life. We submit to the journey of living for him until we live forever with him and his never ending kingdom. We must keep my focus on all times At all times and our captain who is the Lord. Thank God for this encouraging word from Wanda happy new year and be blessed above all people on the earth.

ThankYou Lord for this word through Wanda. After reading, a picture comes into my mind of Winston Churchill rallying and encouraging his nation during WAR and constant attack from the enemy. He called his people to stand, fight and persevere against a powerful, evil enemy. We know how that story ended! Victory! We are God’s Holy Nation. He is calling us to stand, wearing His armor, fight, and persevere against God’s enemy.
ThankYou for rallying and encouraging God’s people
Praise God for His infinite Love, Mercy, and Faithfulness! May the Captain of the Lords Armies lead us with His incomprehensible light that cannot be overcome!

If God is with us who can be against us.
What can man do to me
I will not fear.
