Barack and Michelle Obama are set to produce a Netflix sketch comedy series expected to be “loosely based on an anti-Trump book that portrays the chaos that reportedly erupted after President Trump won the 2016 election,” according to a Fox News report.
The former first couple in 2018 acquired the rights to author Michael Lewis’ book “The Fifth Risk.” The nonfiction book “examines the transition and political appointments of the Donald Trump presidency, especially with respect to three government agencies: the Department of Energy, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of Commerce,” an entry on Wikipedia says.
Comedian Adam Conover, who will join the Obamas for the series, confirmed a Deadline report on Twitter.
“Very happy to finally be able to share this news: I’m creating a new comedy series for Netflix about the federal government. It’s called The G Word, and I can’t wait to share it with you,” Conover wrote, adding a link to the Deadline story. . . .
“The streamer has ordered The G Word with Adam Conover, which will go inside the machine of government and introduce viewers to the civil servants who make it work,” Deadline reported. “It will ask whether government is a dirty word or a trusted institution.”
The series, set to go into production in 2021, will feature comedy “mixed with documentary elements,” according to Deadline.
Lewis is best known as the author of “Moneyball” and “The Big Short,” both of which were turned into highly acclaimed movies.
The Obamas have a multimillion-dollar Netflix deal under the name Higher Ground Productions. Their first Netflix documentary “American Factory” aired in 2019 and was “considered an attack on Trump,” Fox News reported. “The documentary focused on a Chinese billionaire who opens a factory ‘in the husk’ of an abandoned General Motors plant, hiring 2,000 blue-collar Americans.”

Heavenly Father,
You love justice and You despise false witness. I pray that people will see through these lies. That this production will be so obviously flawed and full of lies and people will see right through it and leave them feeling cold. Please, let even the most anti-Trump will see this production and be really turned-off by the mockery and self-inflicting criticsm of the government. I pray this production will be terribly boring and receive the lowest ratings and people will be disappointed and in turn, Obama and Michelle will lose even more fans… I pray for more people to wake up to the truth in the U.S. and all nations, in Jesus name I pray Amen.
Almighty Father, the One who is able to do all things, take what the enemy means for evil and turn it for good. May all plans to bring mockery to our government and its presidency fail. And in the name of Jesus, we rebuke the spirit of division, disunity, chaos, and mockery over our nation. Let your unity, peace and truth reign. Turn hearts back to you and in every situation, Father be glorified in Jesus name Amen.
Lord, I pray that your cleansing, healing fire sweeps our nation, that the blind eyes are opened and the truth be seen. I pray for revival and that we, once again, become a nation of Christians who seek your face and your truth and obey your word. In Jesus’ name and by his precious blood. I pray. Amen
Father we ask that You thwart this effort of Obama to mock our President and we ask that this production fail and that many will withdraw from Netflix and not support it. Thank you Lord.
Dear Lord, this is just one more example of the depths to which our enemies will go to undermine this nation and the works of good. Lord may this project fail and expose these people for the arrogant deceivers they are. Lord, just as the persecution of Christians in Rome backfired by showing the common Roman people Your strength through the fearless way these martyrs faced death, so too do I pray that the current round of persecutions of the just backfires and, rather than turn people away from Your word, instead turns the eyes of the people back to you. In Jesus precious name I pray, amen.
