I Prayed have prayed
Lord, lead and guide each one of us to make wise decisions. Help us to allow the Holy Spirit to convict us and walk those convictions out.

For the third time in a month, a major news figure has abruptly departed an organization, citing the media’s flailing culture. This time it was MSNBC producer Ariana Pekary, who decried the news industry for becoming a “cancer” that “stokes national division.”

Pekary on Monday tweeted out news of her departure from MSNBC, where she has produced host Lawrence O’Donnell’s show, and directed followers to a personal Web site where she described her reasoning.

“July 24th was my last day at MSNBC. I don’t know what I’m going to do next exactly but I simply couldn’t stay there anymore,” Pekary wrote. “My colleagues are very smart people with good intentions. The problem is the job itself. It forces skilled journalists to make bad decisions on a daily basis.

You may not watch MSNBC but just know that this problem still affects you, too. All the commercial networks function the same – and no doubt that content seeps into your social media feed, one way or the other,” she added. . . .

What would you do if you were in this position? Do you agree with her decision? Share your with your friends!

“The longer I was at MSNBC, the more I saw such choices — it’s practically baked in to the editorial process – and those decisions affect news content every day,” she wrote. “Likewise, it’s taboo to discuss how the ratings scheme distorts content, or it’s simply taken for granted, because everyone in the commercial broadcast news industry is doing the exact same thing.”

Pekary said that “behind closed doors, industry leaders will admit the damage that’s being done” and quoted a colleague who declared “We are a cancer and there is no cure.”

“As it is, this cancer stokes national division, even in the middle of a civil rights crisis. The model blocks diversity of thought and content because the networks have incentive to amplify fringe voices and events, at the expense of others… all because it pumps up the ratings,” she added. . . .

Bari Weiss resigned last month as a New York Times opinion editor, saying the paper’s liberal bias and obsession with social media clicks led to imbalance and newsroom bullying. “Intellectual curiosity” is “now a liability at The Times,” Weiss wrote. “Twitter is not on the masthead of The New York Times. But Twitter has become its ultimate editor.”

Andrew Sullivan, the iconoclastic British-born magazine writer, expressed similar frustration as he departed New York magazine in mid-July.

“If the mainstream media will not host a diversity of opinion, or puts the ‘moral clarity’ of some self-appointed saints before the goal of objectivity in reporting, if it treats writers as mere avatars for their race and gender or gender identity, rather than as unique individuals whose identity is largely irrelevant, then the non-mainstream needs to pick up the slack,” Sullivan wrote.

In Jesus’ Name Heavenly Father thank you for revealing to Your people and those who pray to You fervently that You are indeed answering their prayers. What testimony to Your faithfulness and attention to prayers of the Saints who have prayed for truth to be revealed in the realm of media and reporting when several major news figures have announced nationwide they are leaving their profession and announcing their reasons for doing so. I thank you for the courage you have given our President to “call out” the “fake Press” over the past four years. Certainly, every American should be questioning and seeking the truth about any matter reported in media sources. Help us to discern truth. Amen.

Thank you Lord, for the courage of this lady and these men. Bless them ABUNDANTLY! May they also come to the knowledge of Jesus who is the way, the truth, and the Life! May many follow in their footsteps, standing against the lies and manipulation of the media. Open the eyes of your people to see the truth instead of the lies they have believed. Many are being deceived.

Every Thursday I fast and pray for the media of any kind. My prayer is for personal and professional integrity. It is also for the desire to look for TRUTH and to report such truth. It is to report news and not opinion unless it is in the Opinion Section. It is to have respect for all peoples and to show that respect during interviews. There is more but this alone covers so much of the cure for Fake News. I have respect for Ariana Pekary for seeing real concerning issues in what is happening in her profession. Good for her. God will take care of where she will go next.
My feeling when reading this and other similar (though not to many) stories is that Our Father is working on hearts, minds and spirits of those in the media. I pray blessing and honor to the Most High. And thank you’s for hearing our prayers.

Thank you Lord for those that are speaking Truth. Give them wisdom from above on how they can be influencers in this culture war to end the division. Bless them and bring them in to the Kingdom of God for your glory and purpose to prevail. In Jesus name we pray all of this.
