The Olympics came to Paris. More than 11,000 athletes arrived in boats on the River Seine, which runs through the heart of Paris. But on Debilly Bridge overlooking the Seine, you could see gay men, drag queens, lesbians, and others, including a young girl and a man exposing himself, sitting at a long table in what looked like a parody of Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper.’

Instead of Jesus at the center, a famous French lesbian DJ sat with a silver halo headdress. The LGBTQ community proclaimed this tableau a “huge moment for drag performers breaking through the mainstream and showing their talents to the entire world.”

In addition, for the first time in history, three Drag Queens carried the Olympic Torch in its relay to Paris.  A rider on a pale horse ominously galloped down the parade route wearing a cape with the Olympic flag – a vision straight out of Revelation 6:8, “And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and the name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him.”

It’s a pretty sad state of affairs when parents can’t safely sit their children in front of the TV to watch the Olympic opening ceremonies without having them subjected to drag queens, a blue naked man, and death cavorting in Paris. Christians were outraged at this mockery of our Lord and faith, and rightly so.

The Olympics are meant to be a unifying global event where the world watches the very best compete for gold. Yet the Olympic Committee had the bright idea to insult 2.4 billion Christians instead.

One can’t help but wonder if a mockery of Mohammed, Buddha, or any other religion would be celebrated or even attempted.

Why is the Christian faith fair game?

To answer that question, we must acknowledge that someone else showed up in Paris on Olympic opening night. Most did not see him in their revelry, but discerning Christians did and called him out.

The guest at the ceremonies was none other than the spirit of antichrist. I’m not talking about The Anti-Christ, the very real person prophesized in the end times of Revelation.

Instead, this is the spirit in 1 John 4:2-3, “Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.”

To understand the word “antichrist,” you need to know the meaning of “anti,” a Greek preposition that means against or in place of. Christ is from the Greek word christos, which exactly corresponds to the Hebrew word Mashiach, which is Messiah. So, it is a spirit against Jesus or in place of Jesus.

This spirit, like other demonic spirits, hates God. Remember, demons don’t deny the existence of God, but this specific spirit denies Jesus is the Messiah and denies the deity of Jesus.

This spirit has been around for a very long time. Derek Prince, one of the founders of Intercessors for America, suggests that one of the most powerful manifestations of this spirit of antichrist occurred when Pilate asked the Jews which prisoner to release — Jesus or Barabbas? (Matthew 27:21). We know who they chose.

As Prince puts it, “There was a spiritual force at work that swept through that crowd and changed them.”

That same spirit present at the birth of Christianity is alive and well in the world today, intensifying its presence with each passing year. Could any one of us imagine a drag queen/transgender spectacle at the Olympic opening ceremonies four years ago? Two years ago? Last year?

Thomas Jolly, the director of the Paris opening ceremony, said, “The idea was to create a big pagan party.” The news media applauded.

NBC New York: “Drag queens stun”

The First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, called the opening ceremonies “spectacular.”

The Paris 2024 Committee offered a half-hearted apology: ” If people took offense, sorry.” (Translation: We’re not sorry we did it; stop being such a prude.)

The battle is heating up.

Christians know the battle between good and evil is heating up as never before, and the Drag Queen Olympics is just the latest attack.

The spirit of the antichrist appears to be in overdrive, working to ridicule and eliminate Jesus and Christian faith and morals from public life and, as a consequence, unleash degradation and evil.

This spirit has infiltrated entertainment to ‘normalize’ all sorts of sexual immorality and perversion. This spirit managed to get God and prayer thrown out of public schools and colleges. Schools teach that scriptural truths are lies, for example, that the universe developed from a big bang.

The same spirit has driven God and the 10 Commandments out of our judicial system. The same spirit pushes lawmakers to deny the deity of Christ with unrighteous actions such as codifying abortion, same-sex marriage, and transgenderism.

This same spirit has driven Christ out of many churches with false teachings and false gospels that distort and deny the character of Jesus. They profess Christianity without Jesus. They claim to love God but reject Jesus.

Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. (I John 2:22)

The spirit of antichrist presents evil as normal fun and no big deal until we are numb to it. This spirit is at work to deceive and blind the minds of unbelievers from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4).

The spirit of antichrist is the enemy of truth, righteousness, purity, and holiness… as we saw at the vulgar display at the Olympics.

Be vigilant.

We must stay vigilant and be on guard against the antichrist spirit and call it out wherever and whenever we see it. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. (2 Corinthians 10:5)

We must abide in Jesus and His Word as it is the only way to know what is pleasing to God. We must ask the Holy Spirit to show us if we have allowed the spirit of antichrist to numb us, blind us, or make us deaf to the truths of Scripture.

We must pray and intercede without ceasing.

Lord, I believe that Jesus is my Savior and Lord, the Messiah sent from God. In His mighty name, I pray that you hold back the spirit of antichrist that wants to manifest itself in the world today. I rebuke this spirit that wants to hold us captive and ask that You open the eyes of the world to this spirit. I pray that the veil of deception will be removed from nations and their leaders, and they will embrace God’s truth and righteousness instead of advancing the spirit of antichrist’s evil agenda. Lord, help me to discern Truth from deception. Help me to be grounded in Your Word so that I am ready to stand against the deceit of the spirit of antichrist. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
