As Breitbart News reported, the MLB issued a warning to three San Francisco Giants pitchers after they displayed Bible verses on their hats during Pride Night. The incident occurred last Friday when Giants right-hander Landen Roupp displayed “Gen 9:12-16” on his Pride Night hat, which was followed by relievers JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker also featuring Bible verses on their official Pride Night hats.

Vice President JD Vance responded to a Sports Illustrated post on X reporting the reprimand.
“Trump won, we don’t have to do this anymore,” said Vance.
Likewise, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) sent a letter to MLB commissioner Rob Manfred on Tuesday, accusing the league of discriminating against players of Christian faith, per Forbes.
Hawley’s concerns were echoed by other Republican officials. Vice President JD Vance publicly criticized the league on social media, while Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier suggested MLB could face scrutiny over whether its actions amount to religious discrimination. Their comments reflect growing concerns among many Christians that expressions of faith are increasingly viewed differently from other forms of public speech.
Though some critics have accused the MLB of discriminating against players who express religious beliefs, the league has said the warnings were issued because writing on caps is against league rules, and it has clarified the warnings have “nothing to do with the content of the message.”
MLB’s explanation has done little to quiet the debate. Supporters of the league note that uniform regulations have long existed in professional sports and are designed to maintain consistency. Others question whether those rules are always enforced equally and whether players would have received the same response for displaying messages supporting other causes.
The Bible passage cited by Landen Roupp, Genesis 9:12-16, describes God’s covenant with humanity after the flood and the rainbow as a sign of His promise. Roupp later explained that the verse reflects God’s faithfulness and mercy and said he is grateful to live in a nation where people can freely express their beliefs.
This controversy serves as a reminder that faith often intersects with cultural debates in unexpected ways. Whether or not MLB intended to target religious expression, the incident highlights the importance of protecting the freedom to live out and publicly express biblical convictions. Let’s pray that Christian athletes will have wisdom, courage, and grace as they represent Christ in highly visible arenas.

“I am proud of those who defend Biblical values. The rainbow symbol was stolen by the homosrxual and transgender movement . The rainbow is a beautiful promise from God. It has nothing to do with men’s pride in something they should be ashamed of.
Back 70 yrs. ago, this ” PRIDE issue”, was not acknowledged. I will did not even know from the 1968, what a homosexual was. I know people claim to be homosexual, but I really think they should pray and talk to Jesus about this. I know most people do not listen to other people, if they disagree. especially men!! But ,I am talking about a mindset that effects every area of a person, physically, mentally, emotionally, Spiritually. Every area of life, plus other people.
This is the problem, a person needs Jesus to live, whether we know it or not. Jesus did NOT create homosexuals, ask Jesus. Jesus WILL tell you the truth. JESUS loves everyone, but there still are rules, regulations, commandments to follow.
So I pray that to each person involved with the “Pride” issue, that Jesus will send the Holy Spirit to each person, and reveal the truth about Pride, homosexual action. May the Holy Spirit reveal truth to their mind, emotions, spirit. We are talking about life and death. This is serious because this lie of Satan ruins the whole body. I am sorry, and feel pain and sorrow for people who do not understand God’s wisdom. May Jesus reveal His truth!!! In Jesus’s name Amen
Heavenly Father,
You and only You are God. You see all things open and hidden, spoken and in thought. There is nothing that escapes Your presence good or bad, but You are righteous and truth reigns in You. Let Your amazing will be done in the lives of all who oppose or believe in You. May it bring You glory that we are all under grace through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Let salvation come into the lives of those yet to believe in You among MLB representatives in His wonderful name, Amen.
Missouri AG Catherine Hannaway, one of our Capitol Connections, who we pray for by name weekly, has also sent a letter to the MLB Commissioner. She states Missouri will not tolerate any threat to punish a player for exercising his deeply held religious or moral beliefs and reminds him it is illegal as well as Un-American. So thankful for the boldness and clarity of our AG here in Mo.

So sad that the bible is treated as evil and lgbtq is honored with a day. When, if ever, has MLB honored God and His holy words. The lies of satan seem to be getting more attention from those in positions of authority. We the faithful servants of God need to pray for their actions to reflect God’s will instead of satan’s will. I trust God to take care of this evil. 🙏😇👍❤️
If this wasn’t targeted discrimination against their faith, why did SF Giants ‘owners’ need to apologize to the ‘pride community’? Praise God those 3 Giants pitchers were bold enough to kindly respond to the ‘pride’ indoctrination with reference to a simple truth scripture that reminds us of the true meaning of a rainbow.
Why are the Washington Nationals discriminating against their Christian players by not allowing them to speak out about their faith when they allow other players to express their beliefs, political views in public, in interviews? Explain that, Washington Nationals executives!
