Though this speech may have been controversial at the time, it carries potent wisdom for today. What do you think?

From Christian Headlines. In the wake of the announcement that former President Jimmy Carter will spend his remaining days at home, political observers have reappraised different aspects of his presidency. By any objective measure, Carter’s Presidency was one of the most difficult in American history. …

In July 1979, Carter’s administration put him in a pinch by prematurely announcing he would give a televised speech addressing the energy crisis. …

The result has been dubbed “The Malaise Speech,” even though he never used the word. …

As Carter sought to diagnose the problem at the heart of American life, he blamed Washington, but recognized that what happened there was a symptom of the disease in the rest of America. Carter said, “In a nation that was proud of hard work, strong families, close-knit communities, and our faith in God, too many of us now tend to worship self-indulgence and consumption.” …

He continued with words that could be written today. “What you see too often in Washington and elsewhere around the country is a system of government that seems incapable of action. … You see every extreme position defended to the last vote … by one unyielding group or another. You often see a balanced and a fair approach that demands sacrifice … abandoned like an orphan without support and without friends.”

Carter noted that there is an interplay between what takes place at the government level and what happens in our communities and living rooms. When we ignore our communities, only look out for ourselves, and relentlessly consume, we should not be surprised when our government is broken. …

Carter’s words about “every extreme position defended to the last vote” seem especially pertinent today. … We view politics as a zero-sum game where we either completely win or our enemies completely win. …

The “Crisis of Confidence” speech offers hope for us today, but not in the way we might think. The malaise of the 1970s gave way to the hope and optimism of the 1980s. … We could see the same thing happen in our day, but it requires some changes on our part. We must become more active in our communities, seeking to understand what the needs are beyond our own living rooms. And it is imperative that we elect leaders who refuse to give in to hyper-partisan rhetoric and appeal to our basest instincts. Instead, let us elevate leaders who appeal to the better angels of our nature and offer hope for the future.

Jimmy Carter gave us the Department of Education and the Department of Energy. Both departments have made life WORSE in America! And I forgive him! FATHER GOD as Mr. Carter is at the end of his life, please send laborers to him to make sure that he is saved. Give him YOUR Peace and Comfort and help his family during this time in JESUS NAME! Amen!

Todays scripture makes it very clear that we must choose our master. When Joshua told the Israelites that they had to choose whom they would serve, Joshua declares these words” but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord“ After all, serving God is not serving self! As President Carter spoke these words: I think it gives a sure likeness of today in 2023. “ When we ignore our communities, only look out for ourselves, and relentlessly consume, we should not be surprised when our government is broken. “ we need to ponder and see what is really serving us- we should be serving God in mind, will, and emotions. Unless all three are fully submitted to God, we continue to be our own Master. When, “ Lucifer rebelled against God his words clearly illustrated his choice to be his own master”. He thought he would be like the most high. When President Carter spoke these words they are true TODAY “ He continued with words that could be written today. “What you see too often in Washington and elsewhere around the country is a system of government that seems incapable of action. … You see every extreme position defended to the last vote … by one unyielding group or another. You often see a balanced and a fair approach that demands sacrifice … abandoned like an orphan without support and without friends.” The I WILL is in big play today, our will is and does not line up with Gods will! Does this mean are we exalting ourselves above God? Heavenly Father show us where are we living according to the “ I Will” rather than our will. Father speak to our hearts and minds and forgive us for going along with President Carters predictions. Restore our hearts back to your words, guide us in understanding that our choice will align with your words so we only exalt our words below your words. Isaiah 14:13-14
New King James Version- “ How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!!!!
13 For you have said in your heart:
‘I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.’ Thank you Father God for teaching us we need to watch our words that does not praise our Father in Heaven. God I ask in Jesus name to remove all the wicked changes that are being forced on our children to change pronouns that are lies from the devil, such as girl, boy, mom, dad. These rules are exalting the enemy not God. Thank you Father, we give you praise as you give us Joy in our praises. ✝️
