BORDER SECURITY IMPORTANT TO LATINOS
Vice President Mike Pence kicked off President Trump’s “Latinos for Trump” initiative in Florida to chants of “Build the Wall” by the audience. The chants came as Pence said Trump and Latino voters both supported law and order.
“Because Latino and Hispanic Americans believe in law and order. And we support our law enforcement,” the vice president said at the Miami event as a “Build the Wall” chant started in the audience.
“This president knows that a nation without borders is not a nation,” Pence said in response, saying the president had taken “decisive” steps to secure the border.
The audience also cheered after Pence said Trump supports the Custom and Border Protection and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agencies. Pence called Trump a “great champion of Latino and Hispanic Americans” and said the new group would be pivotal to the 2020 election.
Trump won roughly 29% of the Hispanic vote in 2016. Polling among Hispanic voters about Trump’s approval remains inconclusive, with polls showing his support is anywhere from the mid-20s to 50%.

I married into a Hispanic family. My family came over here legally 40plus years ago and became citizens of this country. They are very proud of this country and are unashamed Trump supporters. However, they are very saddened by the newer generation coming here. The new immigrants are given free phones, public housing, help with expenses and both spouses received $350 every two weeks in food stamps. They can afford better food than us because they have $1400 to spend each month at the grocery store. Many of them either buy a bunch of food and just throw it away (because if they do not spend the Food Stamps they will not receive the same amount the next month) or some of them buy food and resale it for a cheaper price so they actually make money from Food Stamps. And this has been going on for many years without them having to apply for a job or having to obtain citizenship. It makes the older generation of immigrants very angry. However there are so many new immigrants receiving these items that the younger generation views this as normal and they refuse to work or even try to learn English.
