The Senate on Monday confirmed Trump-appointed Supreme Court nominee Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
The vote was 52-to-48, with 52 Republicans voting to confirm. Republicans have 53 of the 100 Senate seats and Sen. Susan Collins of Maine was the only Republican who voted against confirmation.
The Senate’s confirmation vote, which came just a week before Election Day, occurred closer to the upcoming presidential contest than any other previous high court confirmation vote, according to the Associated Press.
Justice Clarence Thomas is reportedly slated to administer the constitutional oath to Barrett on Monday night. According to ABC News, Supreme Court justices also need to take the judicial oath prior to working in the role.
