In response to the Supreme Court of the United States overturning of the unconstitutional and abhorrent right to abortion last year, the nation of Israel relaxed its abortion laws.  Israel was already considered to be a nation with liberal abortion laws prior to the overturning of Roe v. Wade.  So, like its state counterparts in America, Israel’s move to expand abortion access amounts to a double-down commitment to continue that which GOD hates.

Because the people have forsaken me and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents, and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into my mind— therefore, behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when this place shall no more be called Topheth, or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter. And in this place I will make void the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, and will cause their people to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life.  I will give their dead bodies for food to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth (Jeremiah 19: 1- 6).

As a repentant abortion survivor who intercedes on behalf of GOD’s chosen people, the irony of the Israeli government’s expansion of abortion access, such that theirs’ is now considered to be one of the most liberal abortion laws in the world, isn’t lost on me.  Admittedly, it was not something that I’d sought GOD about specifically.  That is until I was reminded in prayer to pray GOD’s heart for Israel, hearing a still small voice say they are passing their children through the fire and know Me not.

Prior to 1977, abortion is Israel was illegal. On the heels of child sacrifice, aka abortion, being made a law of the land in America through Roe v. Wade, Israel followed suit, passing Clauses 312 – 321, legalizing the genocide of children if approved by a Termination Committee.  The Termination Committee criteria read like a low-budget horror movie. Taken from Wikepedia, the provisions include the following.

1. Requiring the woman to be younger than Israel’s legal marriage. A woman’s legal marrying age was 17, until April 2013 when it was raised to 18. This provision has been amended to include all women under the age of twenty.
2. Requiring that the baby was conceived under illegal circumstances, like statutory rape, rape, incest, or through adultery.
3. The possibility that the baby will be born with physical or mental birth defects, or if
4. Carrying the baby might cause risk to the mother’s life, including causing mental or physical damage.

In all of these cases, prior to 2014 if/when the Termination Committee approved termination of the baby’s life on the basis of being conceived under illegal circumstances or the woman was aged 20 – 33, the State of Israel paid for the cost of terminating the baby. In 2014, laws changed to reflect Israel’s commitment to cover the cost of all abortions through its government-run, taxpayer funded Health Services entitlement program called the ‘health basket’ of services to women. Much earlier than 2022, when opposition to the control of the Termination Committee was raised, Israel’s Health Services leaders were proud to proclaim that more than 98% of all applications are approved.

Despite this, in order to make its commitment to protecting a woman’s right to child sacrifice clear Israel’s already liberal, taxpayer funded system of sacrifice was expanded to include:

1. Israel’s Universal Health Care System offering women abortion pills,
2. Removing the requirement that the woman physically appear before the Termination Committee, and
3. Digitizing the application, so women no longer needed to submit the application in person, and
4. Removing what Health Ministry officials defined as chauvinistic questions regarding the use of contraceptives during the baby’s conception.

If World Population Review numbers are accurate, Israel reports 13.9 abortions per 1000 women thus far in 2023.  In the same way that a national curse has been lifted from America with the lifting of the national edict of child sacrifice, are we not to recognize that Israel is still under a curse; because they have doubled-down on their child sacrifice?  When the LORD says that His judgment begins in His House, are we not to understand that Israel was and is His House also; whether or not they choose to abide in Him.  When we pray that the veils of deception are lifted and that hardness of heart is reversed on behalf of prodigals in our own families, please pray the same for the nation state leaders of Israel.  GOD will and must judge with righteousness and justice, and For thus says the Lord GOD, “How much more when I send My four severe judgments against Jerusalem—sword, famine, predatory beasts, and virulent disease—to cut off man and animal from it! if He judges the nations (Ezekiel 14:21).
