Is President Obama under criminal investigation? As many in the nation accuse the former President of treason, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard seemed to hint on Wednesday that that may be the case.

In a briefing with reporters at the White House, Gabbard laid out the evidence that had been released on Friday and Monday from previously classified reports, showing that the outgoing Obama administration rejected intelligence assessments that said Russia had not interfered meaningfully in the 2016 election, and prepared a new assessment that reached the opposite conclusion, ostensibly to implicate President-elect Donald Trump and to undermine — and perhaps remove — his new administration.

Asked by Townhall reporter Katie Pavlich whether “any of this new information implicates former President Obama in criminal behavior,” Gabbard responded: “We have referred and will continue to refer all of these document to the Department of Justice and the FBI uh to investigate the criminal implications of this.”

She added: “The evidence that we have found and that we have release directly point to President Obama leading the manufacturing of this intelligence assessment. There are multiple pieces of evidence and intelligence that confirm that fact.”

This comes as the Trump administration has released evidence showing that the Obama administration helped organize the Russia collusion hoax that plagued President Trump’s campaign in 2016. Many on the Right, included Director Gabbard at one point, have accused President Obama of treason in the wake of these revelations.

Whether Obama is under investigation or will face criminal charges, however, is still unclear. When asked point-blank whether any of the released information implicates Obama in criminal behavior, Director Gabbard refused to answer outright. Rather, she simply said she has referred documents to the DOJ and the FBI in order to investigate the criminal implications.” That could mean that Director Gabbard feels Obama is guilty of criminal behavior. It could also mean, however, that she’s leaving that up to other Trump officials to decide.

Further complicating things in the Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling. As Breitbart notes, the Supreme Court ruled last year that presidents cannot be prosecuted “for actions taken under their constitutional authority.” The same ruling that protected President Trump last year may protect Obama now. When asked about this constitutional question, both Director Gabbard and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt refused to answer.

So will President Obama face criminal charges? We can’t say anything definitively at this time. As intercessors, however, we will continue to pray for biblical justice, whatever that justice may look like. We may not know the truth about Obama’s actions, but God does!
