A leaked intelligence assessment is raising concerns about Cuba’s military intentions, with reports suggesting the communist regime may be considering attacks against American targets in the region.

Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.

According to the report, Cuban officials have discussed using a growing fleet of drones against U.S. interests, including Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, American vessels, and potentially locations in Florida. The claims come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Havana.

From The Daily Wire:

Momentum toward a U.S. military action in Cuba appears to be surging, with the Axios report serving as the latest piece of the puzzle. Thursday, CIA Director John Ratcliffe traveled to Cuba to warn them against attacking the United States, and told government officials that they must abandon their authoritarian system to receive sanctions relief.

U.S. officials say Cuba has been amassing drones for several years from Russia and Iran, with an increased number coming from Russia in the last month. An estimated 5,000 Cuban soldiers have fought for Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, with the Russian government paying Cuba a reported $25,000 per soldier. An official told Axios that the U.S. had intercepted communications that indicate the Cubans are trying to learn from Iran’s tactics in their ongoing war with the United States.

The reported intelligence assessment comes as the United States increasingly focuses on threats closer to home. Cuba sits less than 100 miles from Florida, making any potential military capability on the island a matter of national security concern. Reports of cooperation between Cuba, Russia, and Iran are also likely to draw heightened scrutiny from U.S. defense and intelligence officials.

The developments follow other recent actions taken by the Trump administration toward the Cuban regime. Reports surfaced last week that the Department of Justice plans to unseal an indictment against former Cuban leader Raúl Castro related to the 1996 shootdown of two civilian humanitarian aircraft operated by Brothers to the Rescue, an incident that killed four people.

While many details surrounding the leaked assessment remain unverified, the report underscores the growing geopolitical competition taking place in the Western Hemisphere. For years, adversarial nations have sought to expand their influence in Latin America and the Caribbean, raising concerns among U.S. policymakers about security threats near America’s borders.

This report is a reminder to pray for God’s protection over our nation and for wisdom among military, intelligence, and diplomatic leaders. As international tensions continue to rise, let’s ask the Lord to expose threats, restrain evil intentions, and guide leaders in making decisions that preserve peace and security.
