Intel for Intercessors: Brooke Rollins
Founded in 1862 at the behest of President Abraham Lincoln, the United States Department of Agriculture was tasked with the stewardship of America’s farms, food safety, natural resources, and rural communities. Lincoln notably referred to it as the “People’s Department.” Unfortunately, not a lot of mainstream spotlighted press is devoted to the realm of agriculture. However, the necessity of a proper and healthy agricultural system cannot be overstated. It’s all fun and games until the food stops growing (Or the farmers get tired of being mistreated). However, in today’s world, the Department of Agriculture has also become a cooperator with America’s massive food industry, which has caused a lot of problems regarding food safety and the nation’s unhealthy diet. Due to this, the future of agriculture in America has become increasingly consequential to the future of America’s health. Choosing the right person to manage America’s food supply and confront these deeply ingrained problems in Trump’s second term is not just important but necessary for America’s food security. Enter the new Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins.

Life and Early Career
Born and raised in Texas, Secretary Rollins is originally from Glen Rose and now resides in Fort Worth with her husband, Mark Rollins, and their four children. She graduated from Texas A&M University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Science in agricultural development. Rollins was the first woman to become student body president, and during her time in school, she also served as the chair of the Texas A&M Judicial Court, a Fish Camp student orientation counselor, and the speaker pro tempore of the Student Senate. Later, she moved on from agricultural studies to focus on law. Rollins graduated from the University Of Texas School Of Law and earned a Juris Doctor degree. She would go on to practice law for several years and eventually became policy director for long-time Texas governor Rick Perry. From 2003 to 2018, she worked as the president and CEO of a conservative think-tank called the Texas Public Policy Foundation in the city of Austin.
Her Earlier Work with Trump
Brooke Rollins became an instrumental proponent and ally of Trump’s policy during his first term in office. As the Director of the Office of American Innovation, she advocated and encouraged the Trump Administration’s plans for reform. This especially influenced the First Steps Act of 2018. Seeing this influence, it’s not surprising that Trump then named Rollins as the acting director of the U.S. Domestic Policy Council in early 2020. In this role, she stood by Trump’s team in attempting to promote peace and rationality amidst the riots and social unrest during that year. Rollins continued to rally for Trump through thick and thin. After Trump’s controversial “loss” of the 2020 elections, Rollins would devote her time and energy to building a nonprofit organization alongside conservative analyst Larry Kudlow. The America First Policy Institute would be born in 2021 to promote Trump’s policies, fight for election integrity, and ultimately support his re-election. In the same year, the Save America Coalition would be founded in opposition to Biden’s economic proposals, and she would serve as a leader in their efforts.
How to Pray
Brooke Rollins has shown consistent support for Trump for years now, and as a result, she was selected to become the 33rd Secretary of Agriculture on February 13, 2025. She is the second woman to hold this position, after Ann Venemen in 2001. Rollins shared her hopes for the future as she was sworn in:
“‘It is the honor of a lifetime to serve as the nation’s thirty-third Secretary of Agriculture — and a privilege beyond description to have the trust of President Donald J. Trump and the opportunity to advance his agenda. I am thrilled to lead the United States Department of Agriculture and to serve the people of this country,’ said U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. ‘Every day, I will fight for American farmers, ranchers, and the agriculture community. Together, we have a historic opportunity to revitalize rural America and to ensure that U.S. Agriculture remains the best in the world for generations to come.’”
“Upon nominating Brooke Rollins in November, President Donald J. Trump said, ‘Brooke’s commitment to support the American Farmer, defense of American Food Self-Sufficiency, and the restoration of Agriculture-dependent American Small Towns is second to none.’” (Read Here)
As stated, Rollins’s responsibilities will pertain to the integrity of America’s agricultural system. She will also oversee the enrichment of rural communities, meaningful conservation of natural resources, and, perhaps most importantly, national policies regarding food safety and nutrition. As we think about all this, here’s what we can pray for regarding Brooke Rollins’ time as the Secretary of Agriculture:
- First and foremost, pray that God’s will be done and that His plan for our country comes to pass as He sees fit.
- Pray that abundance does not come unless God sees fit and that drought does not come unless God wills it.
- Pray for truth and goodness to trump any and all of man’s machinations.
- Pray for the corrupt food industries to be completely destroyed and removed so that America’s health can be restored.
- Pray that Secretary Rollins listens to good insight and heeds the Word of God.
- Pray against any foreign meddling in America’s food supply and that domestic meddling be completely stopped.
- Lastly, pray for spiritual clarity for Secretary Rollins and that anything that is not of God is removed from her and her surroundings as she takes on this important role.

Excellent prayer points, T.K. I agree! I appreciate your understanding that the success or failure of our land production is one way that YHVH expresses His pleasure or displeasure with a nation. May we be pleasing in His sight.
Excellent prayer points. Thank you, T.K.
My prayer is for corporate farms to be investigated, scrutinized to ensure the food they produce is safe and healthy.
I pray Sec. Rollins encourages and advocates for family farmers, to include the elimination of so called heritable taxes that make it very difficult to pass the family farming operation to the next generation.
Please edit before publishing. It was former Texas Governor Rick Perry not Rick Pickens. There are other grammatical errors also.
