The impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump begins in the U.S. Senate TODAY, February 9th, at 1:00 pm ET, according to C-SPAN. Here is a preview for thinking Americans of some things to look for. . . .
No one can elegantly mash a two- to four-week trial into only a couple of half-days, while the Senate also conducts other business in the morning. Compression will harm Trump’s due process.
Each side has submitted briefs. The Democrat impeachment managers released an 80-page trial brief in small print. Trump’s new lead attorneys, Bruce L. Castor, Jr. and David Schoen, submitted an “Answer” from Donald Trump later the same day on February 2, 2021. It is only 13 pages in big type plus a conclusion and signature block.
However, that was not Trump’s trial brief. It was a reply to the Articles of Impeachment. . . .
Trump’s lawyers need to also file an actual trial brief. However, Castor and Schoen came on board only late last week. A case of this magnitude and complexity (more complex than you might think, with lifetime disqualification from public office and even criminal prosecution possibly down the line) would normally afford six months to eighteen months before going to trial. . . .
Trump’s new lawyers hit hard on a “bill of attainder.” The U.S. Constitution absolutely forbids two things: an ex post facto law and a bill of attainder. . . .
In fact, the Democrats are changing interpretations so severely that they are violating the ex post facto prohibition.
A “bill of attainder” is a legislature singling out a person for punishment rather than enacting a law of general application. Because the prohibition in the Constitution is absolute, Trump’s lawyers raise it as a total bar. . . .
Now, clearly, everyone is focused on whether Trump is disqualified from holding any political office in the future. That could include something like serving on a board, not just running for president. Democrats have made clear that their goal is to not face Trump at the ballot box on November 5, 2024. How convenient and banana republic–like to disqualify political opponents. The Democrats’ fever is practically an admission that they might lose a rematch with Trump.
The news media have been in a fit over whether or not Trump (his lawyers) will argue that the 2020 election was stolen. . . .
Amazingly, though, Trump’s brief reminds us that the Democrats are actually required to prove that the election was not stolen. The articles of impeachment do not merely open the door and allow Trump to prove there was election fraud. They accuse Trump of falsely claiming there was fraud in the election, thereby inciting protests.
Can you cry “fire!” in a crowded theater? Well, is there in fact a fire? Then, yes. A prosecutor would have to prove there wasn’t any fire.
In order to prove their case, the impeachment managers are actually required to prove that Trump’s statements were false. The burden of proof is on the Democrats to prove that there was no fraud anywhere in the election. If Trump’s statements were true or he reasonably believed they were true, then the articles of impeachment fail. And Trump should be able to respond. . . .
Trump’s lawyers hit hard on whether Trump’s statements were incitement. They argue not only that Trump was exercising his rights of free speech guaranteed by the First Amendment, but also that the impeachment trial violates Trump’s constitutional rights for that reason. Trump’s Answer argues that the Constitution “specifically and intentionally protect[s] unpopular speech from government retaliation.” . . .
On page 14, their brief quotes Trump as saying:
I hope the Democrats, and even more importantly, the weak and ineffective RINO section of the Republican Party, are looking at the thousands of people pouring into D.C. They won’t stand for a landslide election victory to be stolen. . . .
The Democrats accuse Trump of whipping up his supporters. But their brief is an 80-page rhetorical screed that whips up their own supporters with inflammatory rhetoric. This is where most attorneys will probably try to be too nice and respectable. Most won’t even know what hit them in a rhetorical sandstorm. . . .
The Democrats’ brief continues the false narrative that Trump generated the protests. They actually say Trump “announced” the “Save America March” — which was organized by others. . . .
The protest at the Capitol was planned earlier than December 23. The Capitol Police media office is staying mum about the permit issued for the northeast corner of the Capitol grounds. But Trump did not suggest that anyone go to the Capitol. There was already a 1:00 P.M. demonstration with a permit pre-planned on the Capitol grounds.
The Answer also challenges the way that the articles of impeachment commingle and confuse allegations of different events and charges, in violation of Senate Rules and the Constitution. In that way, it is impossible to know if senators are all voting for the same charges or some voting for a few charges and others for different charges. . . .

Lord, we know that satan is terrified. He is pulling out every trick, every vile lie (his native tongue) to stop any chance that Donald J Trump has to enter into the political contest in 2024. Summary: At 9:30 on the morning of 6 January, 3-1/2 HOURS BEFORE THE BREAK-IN, AN NPR TWEET REPORTED “TRUMP SUPPORTERS STORM CAPITOL.” Newspaper headlines around the country picked up and ran with the fake news.
That same morning, with an already uncharacteristically sparse police presence at the Capitol, POLICE OFFICERS WERE TOLD “GO HOME; WE DON’T NEED YOU.” Former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann said that normally, for sessions of both Houses, with a crowd of that size, the police presence would have been so massive “you wouldn’t be able to get near the Capitol building.” Dave Kubal of IFA was out in front of the building all morning and reported a total of about 50 officers visible in a crowd of thousands.
While police officers were being told to go home, 3 STATE TROOPER VEHICLES ESCORTED 5 CHARTER BUSES OF ANTIFA TROOPS TO THE CAPITOL, unloading dozens of men in black uniforms, who marched together with backpacks from which they would later, inside the Capitol, be seen removing weapons and changes of clothing.

Thank you so much for this post! I had seen on “Flashpoint” a video with a guy showing via his own cell phone that there were BUSES of antifa bussed in with a POLICE ESCORT. He was freaked out (rightly so!) I was unaware of the NPR tweet! Sweet Lady–thanks for that information.
Our Father is a God of LAW and ORDER and He is also the Father of Heavenly LIGHTS! Our Messiah is the LIGHT of the WORLD. Let us be exceedingly thankful for EACH and EVERY shred of evidence which COMES to light! May we pounce on such information as prayer warriors and lift up the GIFT of the new data back up to the Father! “Every GOOD and PERFECT GIFT is from above, coming down from the Father of Heavenly Lights” (James Chapter 1) Let us beseech THE LORD that He bring ACCOUNTABILITY and JUSTICE to the situation (while we remain humble, repentant and persistent in asking, seeking and knocking for Divine Justice, Wisdom, Clarity and Protection for ALL THOSE engaged in legal battles, election fraud and forensics.)

My main question is why do they go after President Trump with such vengeance? Could it be they need to keep corruption under wraps or focus off of the enemy at work?? I just can’t figure out the hatred for so many years unless you are scared? So we pray for the President and and his safety and we pray for the light to shine in the darkness we pray for the accusers who are so fearful that their hearts can be changed and we once again remember UNITED we stand DIVIDED we WILL fall. One beautiful nation under GOD !!!!!!
This hatred comes from the devil, who hates the light. President Trump is a stalwart patriot who understands that our nation is founded on Biblical principles. So if you look past demeanor and evaluate the fruit of his administration, it is in support of God’s values. When one exposes the evil that happens in the dark, you become a target. In fact, when light shines, those in the dark are threatened and lash out with vengeance and viciousness. The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. We are actually seeing this take place in our time. It may look like the hatred is against President Trump, but it is really against all of us who stand for God and His righteousness. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Praying that former President Trump’s legal team is filled with words of wisdom, courage, and discernment; every moment and steps through this impeachment trial.
Also praying that the TRUTH will be revealed! Truth that this is unconstitutional, (Trump is now a private citizen) and his words: all of them, not the edited version; played on main-stream media will also shed light & truth.
Our former President loves America, he is “not guilty.” What happened on 1/6/2021 at the Capitol was wrong, so may those who actually participated be found GUILTY rather than blame shifting.

Jesus, it is my prayer that You would knock loudly on the hearts of those who advocate this impeachment. That they would know it is wrong to impeach President Trump. Show them their hearts Jesus.
I stand against the work of the enemy and the enemy’s agenda in this ludicrous trial. No weapon formed against Donald Trump will prosper, for whatsoever a man sows he will reap. Lord, I pray that Your scales of justice would be active and come out in favor of truth in this trial today. Cause all lies and deception to be made known. May those who speak those lies, stumble and stammer on their words. Vindicate Your servants, from President Trump to all those who attended the Jan.6 March for him in Wash.D.C. They are also being targeted for just being there showing support for the President. Dear Mighty God, I pray in the Name of Jesus, You will arise over these proceedings and no one present will leave unchanged. You are the God of Justice, Elohei Mishpat! You are the the Lord of Hosts, Jehovah Tseva’ot! Let justice prevail and let Your Power be evident to all! Amen

Praying that President Trump would be fully vindicated in a way that demonstrates God’s overruling hand, and that justice prevails.
Amen, President Trump is still the president of the United States. Those in office are there illegally and now they are trying to make sure he does not sit in the office of President that he actually won by a landslide. I believe President Trump will be fully vindicated because the foundation of God’s throne is righteousness and justice (Psalms 89:14 & 97:2). Also, God hear the prayers of his people. The truth will stop the lies of the left. I believe as you do, that justice will prevail.
Prayer points–
Trump: that he would be at peace, and feel wrapped in God’s arms/under the shadow of His wing.
Lawyers: divine wisdom & wise words–and that as a result of supernatural wisdom & feeling the prayers for them, that their faith would be strengthened as a result of going through this, beyond anything they have ever experienced before.
Leahy: that he would be overwhelmed with divine conviction that he is sitting in the wrong seat, that this trial is part of a demonic usurpation of power, and that he has been positioned to be in a dangerous place when God’s judgment falls.
Schumer: it’s hard to believe that he is not beyond salvation. But we stand with You, Lord, in not wanting anyone to perish, so we ask for the blessing of divine conviction regarding these proceedings, and grace to humble himself and change course.
McConnel: that his heart and motivations would be clearly exposed–either stand strong, or be shown to be weak and double minded.
MacDonough: that she will conduct the trial in an orderly and fair way, that she will be strengthened to make sure proper rules and order are followed.
The Republicans who did not vote to dismiss the charges: thank you for them Lord, that they voted out of pure convictions of their heart OR out of evil intent. Joseph’s life shows us that even when people mean something for evil, You are able to use that very act for good, and to accomplish Your plan. So we rejoice and we are excited that You have a plan! A plan for our benefit and not for our harm. We are excited to partner with You in how You desire to bless our nation. Thy will be done! Be glorified, and not by our might or cleverness, but by YOUR mighty hand.

Lord, we come to you because we love and honor our 45th President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, and we thank You, because we believe You put him in place for such a time as this. He is fearless, bold as a lion, and I believe you are pleased with him as he stood fearlessly in the face of much opposition. He was a great leader! He also honored other people, and stood to protect the unborn, children, and Israel. He helped make America great again, and beautiful again, leading our nation with strong American values. Lord I pray against any evil and destruction concerning this impeachment trial. Give the judge Your insight, wisdom, and discernment. Lord, I appeal this treatment former Pres. Trump has been receiving. I pray that Your sovereignty and power be on display during this trial. In Jesus precious and holy name I pray, Amen.

As usual this impeachment scheme is full of fabrications, full of false accusations, and was birth out of hate for PRESIDENT Donald J Trump. They have their own agenda for wanting him gone. Father God is aware and will intervene because HE has an assignment and/or a commission for PRESIDENT Trump that needs to be completed.
Come Lord Jesus, You are our Jehovah Nissi, fight for us.
And Father God because are LOVE, You love these people regardless of what political parties they are You love them. Let Your love reach down to their hearts and pull them up out of the miry clay and pull them back to You. Remove the scales from their eyes so they can truly see what hatefulness has made them to become. And drive them to their knees for repentance.
Let Your power overwhelm the forces of darkness over this impeachment trial. Come LORD frustrate their plans, their strategies and destroy their wicked assignments.
LORD, we are now asking for an outpouring of Your Holy Spirit over this impeachment trial and that PRESIDENT Trump’s attorneys will be in sequence with Your strategies.

This prayer request seems to be pretty simple on the surface. Our Father doesn’t need to be asked to judge the truth and the rightist outcome. We are asking for that, and it is evident when you read the case.
On the last impeachment, it was full of lies and made up “evidence” against President Trump – but the Dems led by Schumer and Pelosi found Trump guilty.
And they will no doubt try to do the same this time.
