House Censures Rep. Who Disrupted Trump’s Address
Following his disruption of and ejection from President’s Trump’s Tuesday evening address, Representative Al Green was formally censured by the House. Notably, ten Democrats joined Republicans to condemn the behavior.
From The Hill. The House voted Thursday to censure Rep.Ā Al GreenĀ (D-Texas) for his protest during President Trumpās address to Congress this week ā aĀ disruptive displayĀ that prompted his removal from the House chamber.
Pray for your fellow intercessor.
The House adopted the measure in a largely party-line 224-198-2 vote, making Green the 28th member of the House to receive the congressional rebuke. …
Ten Democrats voted with Republicans in favor of the censure. Green voted āpresent.ā
The censure vote made for a stunning scene on the House floor. When Green presented himself in the well of the House for a reading of the censure resolution ā as is customary for such a rebuke ā the Texas congressman, surrounded by other Democrats, began singing āWe Shall Overcome.ā Republicans called for order in the chamber. …
The punishment came less than 48 hours after Green, during Trumpās address to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday āĀ the first of his second term āĀ stood up, waved his cane in the air and yelled back at the president, interrupting his speech within the first few minutes.
The protest began when Trump claimed he had a āmandateā from the American people following Novemberās elections, leading Green to exclaim that the president does not have a mandate at all. …
After a warning from SpeakerĀ Mike JohnsonĀ (R-La.) and a directive to ātake your seat,ā Green continued his vocal protest, prompting the Speaker to direct the sergeant-at-arms to remove him from the chamber. Republicans sang āhey, hey, hey, goodbye,ā as Green walked off the House floor. …
A House censure is a formal reprimand taken by a vote of the House. It is considered a mark on the record of a lawmaker but does not typically carry consequences beyond having the member stand in the well of the House as the resolution detailing their transgressions is read aloud.
Green has remained defiant in the wake of the protest, and in anticipation of the punishment. Minutes after his removal, he told reporters, āItās worth it.ā And Thursday, shortly before the censure vote, Greenās official account on the social platform X said he was being penalized for standing up to Trump. …

Dear Lord. Al Greens burst in the beginning of President
Trumps address to the Nation was childish and disrespectful and
I was so happy that Speaker Johnson immediately had him escorted
out of the room. Too bad the democrats who refused to clap or stand
on so many good moments and sound bites as well as Everyday Americans
and their beautiful and sad stories weren’t penalized for acting like juveniles.
It was President Trumps best speech and the whole World was watching. I am
so thankful he is our President and will truly Make America Great Again!! Amen and Amen.
Father, I pray for your work in the hearts of those who hate President Trump and continue to vote for evil. Change their hearts to follow you and vote for righteousness. I pray for Representative Green that you would touch his heart with repentance and lead him to yourself.
Al Green’s rebuke by the House was well deserved. It should a sign to the voters in his district that he should be defeated during the next election because he has earned it.
Rep. Green was not censured for “standing up the Trump”. He was censured for his dishonoring , disrespectful behavior, and for being in defiance of Speaker Johnsons directive.
I support speaker Johnsons decision .
Father God thank you for allowing the American people to see such a spirit of lawlessness by all who watch the president’s speech. I pray for Mr. Green to come to know Jesus as savior but also to be submitted to your will God.
According to Matt 7:21.
21 āNot everyone who says to me, āLord, Lord,ā will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. ”
Let us not be blinded but what we see but be led by your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus’ name.
His behavior as a representative was inappropriate, rude and un American. Iām tired of people like that shutting down down the freedom of speech of the elected president and Iām glad he will pay the consequences of his brute action against the president that he hates. Thank you God for answering our prayers and allowing president Trump to lead this nation to restore the freedoms youāve bestowed on us and cleaning up our government and making America sane again. Protect president Trump from his enemies and our enemies. As the word says āNo weapon form against him will prosper and you have set a table before his enemies.ā In Jesus name , Amen
God is doing a work in our nation. My prayer is for our nation to come together in unity and follow the hand of God. He is weeding out what does not need to be here in this season.
God help our leaders to have respect for the position of the President and not act like pouty children because they didnāt get their way. Help our leaders have a heart of compassion for people with disabilities or situations where there has been loss or trauma from incidents beyond their control. Help our leaders to be kind and compassionate and get rid of the hate in their heart. Hate and bitterness can lead to self destruction. The whole world is watching how we behave ourself and our children are watching also. Help us not let God down in our actions but live in a way that praises and magnifies His name. God bless the USA.
I PRAY FOR THE SALVATION OF EVERYONE. GOD ALONE KNOWS WHO HAS CONFESSED JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR. MAY ALL CONCERNED MAKE HIM LORD OF THEIR LIVES. MAY THEY ALL SEEK THE LORD AND HIS WAY. IN YOUR NAME LORD JESUS, AMEN.
I thought it was immature and ignorant. I expect more demeanor of a US official. This is a leader?
God was truly at work that day during the joint session with Congress because of our prayers! The Democrats had planned a bigger spectacle. According to Rep. Jasmine Crockett, they were to walk out at the same time, but Al Green pre-empted their actions by getting up prematurely. That is the power of prayer. It disrupts the strategies of the enemy. It confuses them and leaves and also allows others to see their foolishness!
Father God, there are truly some among their ranks that are feeling conflicted about, ‘Going along to Get along.” May they continue to step out in boldness following Your voice and not the voice of others including satan and his minions. Give them peace and a heart to following after righteousness. May others come to the light and the knowledge of You as they testify of their turnaround because of You. In Jesus Name.
“Al Green pre-empted their actions by getting up prematurely..”
Thank you Suzy, I didn’t know this but sit here smiling at the never ending ingenuity of our God!
Lord, We repent as a nation, for our moral decline on every measure; for our lack of civility and courtesy, for our inability to listen to one another and our lack of respect for authority. We desperately need a new wave of your Spirit to open our hearts and minds to your supernatural presence with us always. Help us to restore our nation in your righteousness as the only goal so that true justice flows like a river of peace. Praise you. Lord Jesus, for lifting our souls above every obstacle and bringing us into the Father’s presence. Amen
