I Prayed have prayed
Father, may we be used by You to mobilize your church to be salt and light in our nation through voting godly leaders into our government.

You are a part of a tremendous strategy to bring more Christians to the polls in November–but, how?

Vote Your Values 2020 is the interactive initiative that brings the power of personal prayer for non-voting believers.  Before your eyes glaze over thinking about the elections and “one more voting program,” let me tell you what makes Vote Your Values different.

First, Vote Your Values is built on the God-directed premise that PRAYER can make a difference in the elections.  Instead of only praying for outcomes or candidates, we felt God directing us to pray for those believers who hold biblical values but are not making it to the polls for one reason or another.  To pray that they would be moved to go to the polls in November and vote for candidates that support their biblical values.

You’ve heard the statistic–only 25% of those who call themselves believers even make it to the polls to vote.  By not voting, we as the Church are abdicating our opportunity to align our government and those who represent us with the biblical values we hold!

By visiting VoteYourValues2020.com, you can actually see dots on the map that represent Christians who haven’t made it in to vote in recent elections.  Pray for them by name–they represent real, live people!

Let me share this wonderful letter we received from Carole, who not only “clicked the dots” to pray for some of these folks, but was moved by God to go a step beyond.  Here is an excerpt from her sweet letter:

Dear IFA,

When I began praying for Christians to vote, I didn’t quite know how the map and uncovering names worked. So I uncovered one name, and prayed for the person. That wasn’t enough. So then I uncovered 50 names and prayed but I didn’t have a really good handle on it. Saying a quick prayer for 50 individuals didn’t seem like enough. Saying a quick prayer for one individual at a time, really didn’t drop into my heart.  I needed a better method in which I could pray Scripture into the names and do it over and over ~ knowing the LORD heard me.
So, I got a bound notebook and entered a morning prayer:

“In the morning O LORD, You hear my voice;

In the morning I lay my requests before You and wait in expectation.

To the LORD I cry aloud and He answers me from His Holy Hill;

My cry comes up before Him into His ears.”

“Father that these Christians who are called by Your name would vote their values in the 2020 election.”

I put the above prayer in my notebook. I then made 7-10 columns under the above prayer and as I click each new name on the map on my computer screen, I enter it in my notebook. I have just under 200 names listed. Then I begin my morning prayer and speak each name out loud that is listed. Sometimes I divide the names. After the first group of names, I pray:

“May Your unfailing love rest upon us O LORD, even as we put our hope in You. We sought the LORD and He answered us; He delivered us from all our fears.”

Next, I pray into the next group of names, and end with:

“Be strong and take heart all you who hope in the LORD. If God us for us, who can be against us? May His favor rest upon us and establish the work of our hands.”

I plan to continue to pray for these Christians, speaking each name daily before the LORD until the election. We’re in a war and praying a name once doesn’t seem like enough to me. I also have found that once I had this organized, praying over the names went a lot smoother. I’ll be adding more to my list ~ but prayerfully.  “Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.”

Signed,
Carole from Wisconsin

What a wonderful way to let the Lord direct you HOW to use the information on the VoteYourValues2020.com site.  You could say that Carole “adopted” those people to repeatedly pray for through the elections.

IFA provides the names of people who need prayer, so you can easily click and pray, or use another strategy that the Lord puts on your heart.  I want to encourage you to pray as you begin this effort–ask the Lord how He would have YOU interact and participate. Make VoteYourValues2020 your own!

I look forward to hearing other stories from intercessors of what they are doing to pray for these non-voting Christians. Thank you for your obedience to pray.  I hope you will get excited about this prayer strategy we feel the Lord gave us at IFA. After all, we are all about praying for PEOPLE.

Share the ways you have interacted with Vote Your Values 2020 below in the comments.  We encourage you to check back onto the site regularly.  We are adding new states for prayer every month. Let’s see what God is doing–and let’s join Him!

As I have gleaned information about a particular state, I pray accordingly. I also pray for those names to have an awakening from apathy, and complacency and to become people of pray, falling in love with Jesus again or for the first time. I pray in the Spirit and with my understanding. And I give thanks that God at work.

I m stunned at this strategy. It’s absolutely brilliant. I have absolute confidence in the power of very small things done consistently – like clicking on dots on a map and praying for someone by name to go vote. As I started, I just prayed they’d be registered, and vote. I like to “check off things on a to-do list,” so this is a really good method for me. I prayed for 25 people in like under 5 minutes. Today, I prayed for 75 in about 10 minutes. I found myself praying for the people to be filled with healing, hope, vision, and a love for their state. I found myself having faith for Virginia, and well, I will be praying with this little strategy until the election, and looking forward to dramatic results!

I live in the UK and am a British citizen. I have relations who are American citizens in St George, Utah and in Las Vegas, Nevada. I do pray for the American elections but can`t register as I would like to do.

Vote your Values. I have listened to the webinar with Catherine Engelbrecht from True the Vote and it states that you can ask questions, but I saw no place to do that. Also she states there is a listing (SOMEWHERE???) that gives a list of how one can volunteer at the polls or help others prepare for the polls. Please direct me.

    Vote Your Values is an initiative by Intercessors for America. Catherine Engelbrecht is with True the Vote, and was a guest on our webinar praying and acting for the elections. During the webinar, if you post your question in a social media comment, we may get to it at the end of the webcast for the question and answer period. We will be covering more opportunities for involvement in future webinars. Thank you for being interested and praying and taking action!

    Anna,
    Besides praying, there are a # of things you can do:
    1. Secure dates from your Secretary of State, county Probate Judge, county clerk, or absentee ballot manager for the cutoff dates for voter registration form & absentee ballot request form submissions. Share these dates with others (via email, word of mouth, ask to be placed in your church bulletin or online site, or typed up & handed out at church). Secure & familiarize yourself with the hard copy forms & online versions (through your Secretary of State).
    2. You can register voters at your church. After securing permission from your pastor or the appropriate staff member, you ask that they advertise your voter registration effort (from the pulpit, in your bulletin, or both). This would need to be scheduled before any registration cutoff dates. At the voter registration event, be prepared to help with the completion of the form – hard copy or online, offering to make sure that it filled out correctly. If so, know in your state how soon the voter will receive notification that they are registered. In my state voters will receive an official voter card in the mail within 10 days. Remind these applicants to follow up w/ the Secretary of State if the notification isn’t received in a timely manner. Voter registration brings attention to an upcoming election, even if folks are already registered. Some folks may be registered but have a change of address or name change. This needs to be reflected on the voter registration forms – hard copy or online. Some people may not remember if they are registered. If they go online to register at the Secretary of State website, it will clearly show their registration status. If already registered, one can determine the voting site.
    3. Also, on the Secretary of State website, you should be able to locate & print off a sample ballot. Share these with others, as you are able. If you are unfamiliar with any of the listed candidates, ask those you know who share your values for their advise. I advise to leave blank those races you haven’t researched. If you are a knowledgeable person with candidates and formation, share generously with others & over time, you will be contacted by many.
    4. Most poll workers are compensated. Poll watchers are true volunteers. Training is required for both positions. Contact your county probate office to poll work. To poll watch, you will need to contact your political party’s county or state office to offer your services. Certainly, these offices & those of candidates are recruiting office workers, phone callers & door knockers as volunteers. Opportunities abound!

Lord may Your faithful do Your will concerning this election. May the candidates that You want elected be voted for. Help guide the voting public to do the right thing. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

It was organized and user-friendly. I just click on the circles and the first name of the believer pops up along, with a scripture reference.
