I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we pray for the families and communities affected by this terrible flood. We pray for Your healing and comfort for those impacted.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

On Independence Day, a devastating flood hit an all-girls Christian camp in Texas. 69 deaths have been confirmed, but some are predicting a final number of more than 100.

Who is praying on the wall?

From Daily Mail:

Texas‘s Division of Emergency Management predicted the number of dead as a result of catastrophic flooding in Kerrville on July 4 would top 100, Daily Mail can exclusively reveal.

In an email sent out Saturday, the state disaster office told partners the number of dead would surpass 100, two different sources confirmed to Daily Mail.

The estimate of the dead is vastly different than the message state officials are projecting publicly, insisting that they are still searching for people who are alive, and refusing to say rescue efforts have shifted to recovery of remains.

The flood hit Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian camp. Mystic hosted 700 campers, some of whom perished in the disaster. Daily Mail reported that, as of Sunday morning, 69 had been confirmed dead, 46 of whom were adults and 21 of whom were children. 11 girls and one counselor were also reportedly missing.

As rescue operations continue, it’s important for us to pray. If you’d like to pray for Texas at this critical time, you can download our “Prayer Guide for Times of Crisis” for specific prayer points and scriptures. You can also visit IFA’s state page for Texas to post your prayers and encourage Texas residents.

This floods may have caused devastation, but we worship a God who is greater than any flood. Let’s pray for Him to heal the injured, to comfort the brokenhearted, and to draw all in Texas closer to Him.

Add your prayers for those impacted by this flood below.

We are praying over the deed and for magnitude of the sorrow of the living who have lost loved ones. We are also praying for trained counselors attending familes who will ‘have boots on the ground’ of which our daughter is one.

Our gracious heavenly father, you know the devastation and unfathomable heartache that this flood has caused. We pray for your Holy Spirit to comfort all those who have lost loved ones. Be the ever present help in trouble to them and empower them to overcome. I pray that they will not become bitter, but turn to you in their sorrow and deep grief, and that you will heal their broken hearts. 💔 ❤️

Our Heavenly Father. I lift up the total devastation that has occurred in
Kerrville , Texas. This flooding was not expected and took everyone by
surprise, even with the warnings that were given out. The death count is
over 100 now and many more people are missing. Please bless and help
the first responders and give them peace, stamina, wisdom and strength
to find all the victims that are still missing. We should all be praying for this
horrible disaster that has happened and have around the clock prayer for the
missing victims to be found.

Now there are more organizations coming in to help and the waters have gone down
a little but are still very high in most places. We say a special prayer for all the young
girls in the Camp that have lost their lives. Please be with the Mothers and Fathers
who have lost them and give them peace, comfort and love from all the volunteers
and religious leaders around the area.

Everyone weeps for the victims and the tragedy. God will bring comfort to those hurting
souls and families involved. God Bless Texas and all they are going through.

In Jesus name. Amen and Amen!!

Father, I ask that you surround each family affected with your unfailing love and comfort. I ask that You somehow bring them joy and peace in spite of their loss. I pray that you encounter each person personally and restore their soul. I pray that You shine Your light in each of their lives that will dispel all darkness from their hearts and minds. I pray that through this Light there will be no trace of their pain and grief. In fact, Your loving-kindness and goodness would become paramount and overshadow everything else in their lives. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Weather Forecasters have amazing skills and abilities to forecast weather advisories and warnings days, even weeks in advance.
What happened here, Lord Jesus?

Human beings are fallible but in reality no person or group can be blamed for what happened here. Was anyone to blame for all the damage done by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina and Tennessee? As Christians, we live in both a seen world and an unseen world where there are sorts of spiritual forces operating. Remember how a terrible storm that threatened to drown the disciples as Jesus slept? The bible says the prince of the air aka the devil rules this world. The devil enjoys stealing people’s lives, health, wealth and relationships. The devil stole these lives in Texas. This tragedy brings us to our knees, crying out to our heavenly Father, “Have mercy on everyone impacted by this! We grieve with the families who lost loved ones, we ask for strength and wisdom for all who are helping in the recovery. We rely on You Jesus to be our light in a very dark world.”

Praying for a unified, intentional, life saving, kingdom “surge” of believers to be energized in Holy Spirit, to take lives out of the storm of the kingdom of darkness. The heroic investment ,even unto death, of 1st responders and all the coordinated services shows it can be done. I believe God is in this. How much more will we feel His love as we let His love be known to a lost nation and disciple those He brings to Himself. As we have cried and prayed for the flood victims, let this be a renewal of purpose for us. No one knows when disaster will change a life. Make ready. He is sufficient, don’t loose sight or faith through your tears. He is Good

Father, You have promised to cause new life to spring forth, even from the barren recesses of hopeless hearts. Because of Your tender mercies, we declare over our hurting brothers and sisters that their lives will one day flourish again. Even though they may walk through death’s valley, they will remain anchored to the God of Hope, who will sustain them through the pain and restore their hurting hearts. All of this we pray in the name of our Savior and Healer, Jesus. Amen.

Father, thank you for providing comfort and healing to all the families and friends who are suffering from the loss of a loved one(s). May all the emergency responders and volunteers be sustained by Your wisdom, strength, and endurance as they continue to work tirelessly in their rescue search efforts. I pray that knowing how much their neighbors, friends and nation cares will in some way be a healing balm to enable them to face a new day. Prayerfully, Jan

Abba, because I lost my brother, Lynn, who was only 11 months older than I, to an accident when I was 6, I want to pray specifically for siblings of the victims. That loss almost turned me against the only One Who could bring healing and comfort – You. It devastated me. Because my parents were also devastated, and my other 2 older brothers were dealing with their own grief – I felt so all alone. The enemy made sure that well-meaning attempts to comfort me backfired. Someone told me that God needed another little angel in heaven – bad theology, but also inferring that my feelings about it didn’t matter. Etched on his gravestone was a Scripture verse that comforted my Dad, but left me cold – “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.” – giving You credit for killing my brother. Thank You for intervening and giving me a vision as a teenager to set the record straight – You cried with me and You were not distant. And thank You for speaking clearly to me about why my brother died – he stepped out in front of a car that could not stop in time. It didn’t settle all the questions, but it did allow me to see You as the One who loved me supremely, even more than Lynn, and the One I could trust because as Hebrews 4:15-16 says ” . . .  we do not have a High Priest unable to empathize with our weaknesses; . . . (and we can) confidently approach the throne from which God gives grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need.” I finally found that mercy and grace, and that is what I pray for the young siblings of the victims – may they know Your comforting presence and cuddle up in Your arms. I pray also for all family members and friends. We ask that all victims are found, and that You would minister to first responders who are dealing with this trauma. May we as the ekklesia respond rightly to what You have allowed – thus allowing You to bring good out of what the enemy meant for evil. May nothing be allowed to separate us from Your love – Romans 8! May all impacted by the tragedy run to You, and not away.

Very insightful testimony, Mary Beth; bless you!

Praying with you and others here in agreement, in Jesus’ Precious Name; amen!

Joann, I was unclear about what I considered “bad theology”. I know beyond a shadow of doubt that my brother is in heaven. What was not true is that he would somehow become an angel in heaven, because that is not Biblical. Angels are angels, whether fallen or not – those fallen we call demons. Human beings are human beings, regardless of their eternal destination. Angels and human beings are different creations. Sorry if that was misleading!

Thank you for your heartfelt testimony, Mary! Your prayers for siblings and family members are powerful, as you have lived this trauma yourself! May these families indeed feel the Father’s arms around them holding them close, knowing that His heart breaks with theirs, For “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” – Ps. 34:18

Mary Beth, you are so right about what you learned through your experiences with the Lord. Thank you for sharing.

The wrong idea about his sovereignty results in many hurting people blaming Him, then unable to turn to Him.

The balanced teaching below helped me get through a cancer diagnosis 10 years ago.

For anyone, struggling with the question of why he allowed the floods, this teaching will help you.

Thank you, Sheri and others who wrote encouraging comments! I agree that balanced teaching on God’s Sovereignty is important. I’ll check out your link, and thank you! My little brain struggled with how to understand how the concepts of free will and His sovereignty could co-exist for a long time – but I have finally made peace with it. It increased my trust level greatly!

Sheri, I checked out the link and it is excellent. He expresses exactly what the Lord had revealed to me. And it explains why people mistakenly say, “God is in control!” It is rooted in false doctrine regarding the Sovereignty of God. I shudder when people say that. I agree with your recommendation!

Thank you Mary Beth for following up on the link. At that time, many years ago, it was a lifeline for me. I have continued to live by those principles of the sovereignty of God and they have never failed me. That always encouraged me. My goal is to always stay teachable and correctable by the Holy Spirit.

Thank you Mary Beth. Here is GOD using the terrible grief you suffered to bring real comfort to others who, today, sadly, find themselves horribly bereaved of their beloved sibling.
The pain just never really goes away. . . . and the question: “If only . . . .” continues in our minds forever it seems.

The Apostle Paul reminded us that we don’t mourn as others do we do more. I continue to pray that not only for the families hearts be made more tender for Jesus Christ at this time in this tragedy to grow closer, but those to whom I am sending out information to pray with us that are not saved will ask what they must do to be saved.
I ask these in all things in the mighty and matchless name of Christ Jesus our Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You Father; thank You Savior; thank You Holy Spirit.
