FBI Documents Spark New Concerns Over Anti-Trump “Arctic Frost” Investigation
House Republicans are calling for a permanent end to the years-long prosecutions against President Donald Trump after newly released FBI documents raised concerns that elements within the bureau may have sought to preserve cases for possible future action after his presidency. From Just the News:
The chairman of the powerful House Judiciary Committee is urging the Justice Department to ask federal courts to dismiss with prejudice all prior criminal prosecutions against President Donald Trump, putting a permanent end to a 10-year legal assault by the Obama-Biden era FBI against the man twice elected president by the American people.
“It’s probably time that this all just ended,” Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said Wednesday night after Just the News reported new documents it obtained revealed the FBI at the end of the Biden presidency secretly took the rare step of preserving evidence from a dismissed January 6 prosecution until 2030, raising alarm the bureau could revive its prosecution after Trump leaves office.
The agents in the controversial Arctic Frost case also wrote a new memo insisting they believed Trump violated laws, creating a fresh roadmap for prosecution after Trump’s presidential immunity from prosecution ends in 2029.
The newly released documents have intensified concerns among conservatives who have long argued that federal agencies were weaponized against President Donald Trump and his allies. According to the report, FBI officials chose to preserve evidence connected to the dismissed January 6 investigation rather than following the bureau’s normal procedures for closing out cases. Critics say the move suggests some officials hoped to leave the door open for future prosecutions once Trump is no longer protected by DOJ policy shielding sitting presidents from criminal prosecution.
FBI Director Kash Patel condemned the prior handling of the case, calling it abusive and inconsistent with standard FBI practices. Patel also said the bureau’s controversial CR-15 squad, which handled the investigation, has since been shut down. Representative Jim Jordan argued that the DOJ should move to dismiss the cases “with prejudice,” ensuring they can never be revived in the future.
The controversy is likely to deepen ongoing national debates over political bias within federal law enforcement agencies and whether reforms are needed to restore public trust. Supporters of President Donald Trump say the developments confirm years of concerns about politically motivated investigations, while critics maintain the original prosecutions were legally justified.
