I Prayed have prayed
Father God, show us how to exercise our rights as citizens of heaven and citizens of the United States.

Did you know that after Paul and Silas were miraculously delivered from jail, they put themselves right back in?

I had never seen this before! We’ve been taught since Sunday School that the supernatural earthquake that freed these two disciples from prison was the end goal. But it wasn’t! We know that they went to the jailer’s house that night and brought his entire household to faith. That was incredible. We also know, according to Roman custom, that if a jailer loses any prisoners, he himself would be put to death. Perhaps that is why Paul and Silas go right back into their cell by the next morning!

But when it was day, the magistrates sent the police, saying, “Let those men go.” And the jailer reported these words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent to let you go. Therefore come out now and go in peace.”(Acts 16:35)

Not only did they return to their cell for the sake of the jailer, Paul was going to hold the government to account. Even though they could have walked out on their own, Paul challenges the officials to come and bring him out themselves!

But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and do they now throw us out secretly? No! Let them come themselves and take us out.”(v 37)

Paul wasn’t about to let the officials sweep this injustice under the carpet. He knew his rights! Not only did he take a stand as a citizen, he demanded that they take responsibility for their wrongdoing. It states that when they realized who he was – and what they had done – they came and even apologized to him – because of the fear of the Lord (v 38-39)! Had he the opportunity, I could just see Paul inviting the press to assure this would make the Roman headlines!

This was not the first, nor the last time, that Paul would call public officials to account (Acts 22:25). He demonstrated that though we are citizens of another Kingdom, we have authority and rights in both realms if we but use them. He knew the laws of the land and the rights he had, not only as a believer in Christ, but as a citizen of the state. Do we?

Seeing the whole story now, perhaps the miracle here is not an earthquake that breaks off chains, but a disciple who puts them back on in order to hold his accusers to account.

What do you think we can learn from the example of Paul? Share your thoughts.

May we be wise as serpents but harmless as doves. May we be available and useful for your “greater” purposes.

That is an amazing story. I have hope that the ones who framed Flynn and our President will one day not only receive justice, but apologize publicly for the horrible wrongs committed. Would that not finally stop the media spin if the perpetrators were not only convicted but also showed remorse? I have been praying for the eyes of the perpetrators opened to see the injustice they have done. I bind the spirit of deception that has blinded all involved in this coup to overthrow a duly elected President.
Dear father, raise us up to have the faith and vision Paul had. I pray You bring indictments that open the door to exposing the truth of the wrongs committed and bring humility and repentance to the ones committing the crimes. I pray this exposure of the truth will break the back of this spirit of deception and allow the captives too see and understand what has transpired. I pray the media will be confronted for their part in thIs evil conspiracy to hijack our county and destroy the lives of innocent people. I pray they will see and be humbled by their wrongdoing and may they repent. Father give us hope and strength to not give up and keep praying for this sordid chapter to end to Your glory.

What an honorable way to pray specifically for those names! I will be sharing this with my praying warriors to join in with the community of faith in Jesus Christ, to cover the election in November. No matter the outcome, we can trust our Heavenly Father is intentional and purposeful in ALL of His ways. We CAN trust Him and we can join our hearts to cover our nation. LORD where people have sheepishly received you, but have not allowed the seed of Your Spirit germinate and grow; LORD I call on You to open the eyes of your called, to expose the works of the enemy to distract and complicate the lives of many. Father we call on You to display Your power and love in the lives of who we pray for, in such a way, that they would be SO motivated and inspired to pray biblically in the November election. Amen

We are told to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ, in season and out “and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:”. When a Governor says there will not be any singing and praying out loud at churches not only has he offended God but he has breached the law, 18 USC 242, and our 1st Amendment rights.
Put on the Armor of God and Stand! What God did for Paul and Silas, He will do for us. Fear not but be strong and courageous for our God is for us if we keep our faith.

Reminds me of the exoneration of General Michael Flynn in that we engaged in the spiritual battle through prayer and saw prison doors in the natural realm open. The General’s stance throughout was of a man of character and strength.

In a time when justice is questioned and the fear of the Lord is lacking in men, thank you almighty God for revealing truth and freeing an innocent man. Let truth be known and Your name revered in all the land. Amen.

I read this after reading and praying for Senator Jensen. Father, I pray that we would not back down when we are accused of things that bring out truth. I pray that we would remember that we are citizens of Heaven and earth, and You are Lord of our lives. You give wisdom and authority.
We do this not on the basis of our lives, but to exalt You and bring truth to those who do not understand Your Kingdom.
Father, we put on Your armor to stand and fight and not to allow the enemy to win! For Your name sake, Jesus. ,
