I Prayed have prayed
Lord, we thank You for the privilege to intercede on-site for our leaders and elected officials. We pray for Your Spirit to move in each and every State House.

IFA SC hosted a trip to the South Carolina State House to introduce IFA folks who had never been to the State House to a prayer event there, and to intentionally join with a local prayer group that prays on the State House grounds on a weekly basis.

About 30 intercessors participated in a tour of the State House, covering some of the history of both the state and the State House. Afterwards, we split into small groups, pairing those who had done this before with those who had not, to pray at various locations in the building. Since one of the objectives was ā€œexperiential training in intercessionā€, there were no specific prayer points provided to pray over, as part of the training was to force us to listen to the Lord’s direction for each of the groups.

While I’m not sure I have feedback from all of the groups, many had some fairly remarkable results! As examples, two groups received images of snakes entangled on the floor representing the deception and entanglement impacting legislators; two groups prayed for the State House (government) not to in any way restrict revival in the State, resulting in ā€œseeingā€ images of water flowing out of the State House down the steps and out into the state. Others had specific insights into how to pray against the back room deals that are frequently made with hidden agendas, and the whitewashing of righteousness used in the state that ā€œcoversā€ the hidden sin.Ā Ā  Several experienced a change in atmosphere in the State House after the prayer time ended. At least one of the state employees noted that we were praying and specifically asked that we continue to pray!

After visiting the State House, the local prayer group provided a light lunch and a meeting room for all of us to get more time together. Lynn Thompson shared some of their experiences in Columbia explaining the Lord’s direction and excitement about what He is doing in the city as well as the State House. Churches are coming together in Columbia to pray in various settings and evidence of a uniting in the Body of Christ is appearing!

After Lynn shared, Elizabeth Enns shared her experience of actually running for office in South Carolina. The level of spiritual battle involved surprised most of us there. The spiritual enemy clearly does not want Christians who are on fire for the Lord in political positions, which is all the more reason for us to pray and support them.

Encouragement and expectation for greater things in South Carolina were huge outcomes for most of us who had the chance to attend as well as finding others of like mind across the state.
