DEI Is Draining $94 Billion the Economy Each Year
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies are raising serious concerns for the White House after findings suggest just how much harm initiatives are doing—draining billions from the U.S. economy each year.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion practices negatively impacted the U.S. economy, according to the 2026 White House Economic Report released April 13.Researchers calculated that DEI policies reduced output and lowered the country’s gross domestic product by about $94 billion each year, amounting to approximately $1,160 per year for families with two working adults.
…
President Joe Biden accelerated DEI practices with executive orders implementing the programs in the military and across the federal government’s various agencies and departments.
…
President Trump rescinded the orders with a series of executive actions in January 2025.
This report highlights a growing concern among many Americans that policies rooted in identity rather than merit ultimately undermine fairness and productivity.
Addressing a joint session of Congress in March 2025, President Trump stated – “We believe that whether you are a doctor, an accountant, a lawyer, or an air traffic controller, you should be hired and promoted based on skill and competence, not race or gender.”
Scripture consistently affirms the importance of honest scales, just measures, and integrity in leadership. When hiring and promotion decisions are influenced by anything other than competence and character, the result is not only inefficiency but injustice.
The economic consequences outlined in the report point to a deeper cultural issue. When systems prioritize categories like race or gender over individual ability, they risk violating the biblical principle that God shows no partiality (Romans 2:11). A system that elevates some, while disadvantaging others based on identity fosters division rather than unity.
Our nation’s leaders are called to uphold truth, justice, and righteousness in every sphere—including economic policy and employment practices. When systems drift from these principles, it is the responsibility of believers to pray and stand for what is right.
