With increasing terrorism, Israel has dealt with extreme tension for months now. This may result in the current government coalition collapsing.

From The Wall Street Journal. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s government faces another challenge to its survival, as a rocket fired late Monday from Gaza raised fears of a new conflict and clashes between Israeli police and Palestinians in and near Jerusalem’s most sensitive holy site threaten the fragile ruling coalition.

Israel’s military said it shot down a rocket fired into its territory from the Gaza Strip, breaking months of quiet on that border. Both Palestinian militant group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, and Islamic Jihad, its smaller militant partner, have threatened in recent days to strike Israel over tensions between Palestinians and Israelis in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

In the past, Israeli forces have responded to Gaza rocket fire with airstrikes. Clashes in Jerusalem contributed to an 11-day deadly conflict between Israel and Hamas last year.

Meanwhile, the Israeli ruling coalition faced a potential mutiny from an independent Arab party, which warned it would quit the government if violence around the Al Aqsa mosque continues. The Islamist Ra’am party suspended its membership in the coalition to protest the government’s handling of the clashes at the Al Aqsa mosque compound and what they say are Israeli government polices that have degraded Muslim control over the holy site in favor of Jews….

If Ra’am, or even one of its members, quits the coalition, it would reduce the government to a minority, and leave it vulnerable to a vote to dissolve the Israeli parliament that could send the country to a fifth election in a little over three years.

The Bennett government already lost its majority in the 120-member parliament, or Knesset, earlier this month after a right-wing lawmaker quit the coalition over disagreements about the country’s Jewish character, leaving it with 60 lawmakers.

Ra’am’s warning to pull out its four lawmakers highlights how debates over religion and state tear at the seams of the highly diverse Bennett government, which came to power in June last year after a mix of left-wing, centrist and right-wing parties, including for the first time an independent Arab party, united in their opposition to former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The parties’ deep ideological differences have created an unwieldy alliance. Members have clashed over several issues, including policies related to West Bank settlements and Palestinians….

Political polls in Israel consistently show that another election would bring Israel to another deadlock, with neither Mr. Netanyahu nor those who oppose him easily able to form another government. This is one reason, Prof. Diskin said, that the Bennett government might survive the current tumult as those in the coalition don’t have much to gain from new elections….

Tensions have mounted after a series of terrorist attacks that have killed 14 people in different parts of Israel since late March. After the recent attacks, Israel’s military carried out several operations in the West Bank, arresting suspects believed to be connected to the violence or planning other assaults. This has led to clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinians in the West Bank, with Israeli forces killing at least six Palestinians since last Thursday, according to Palestinian medical officials. A total of at least 44 Palestinians have been killed in clashes with Israeli security forces in the West Bank this year….

Father we pray, with Intercessors for Israel – http://www.ifi.org.il/prayer -for the current government. All government ultimately rests on Your shoulders (Is.9:6-7), so we ask that you would use those currently in power to accomplish your will and God that you would not allow this government to fall unless and until it is in your timing. We ask that you would reveal yourself to all the leaders currently in power in Israel, especially to those who are power sharing at this time – prime minister Bennett and Yair Lapid. We cry out for leaders who trust in you first, and who lean heavily on your word and therefore decide in righteousness and justice. Please keep the United States of America from putting unholy pressure on this government to divide its land. Please allow the leaders to stand against any plans that would divide the land of Israel and so bring Your judgment. We know your ultimate purpose is to restore Israel, ringing about the restoration of all things and her salvation. We agree with you! Even so come Lord Jesus!

Oh, Lord…Father God, how thankful I am of what You say in Your Word concerning Your People, Your Land; Your heart in the matter of it all…they will always be Your Chosen, Your inheritance, and the apple of Your eye!

Israel will go through what has been determined, but also of Your divine and promised outcome! Please bring what is needed Lord to establish Your purpose, Your plan! My heart grieves for Your People…especially of the ones of whom are still blinded by the darkness of unbelief in Yeshua…

Oh Lord, more than anything, I pray in these perilous times, please open blind eyes to Who You Truly are…move mightily in their hearts experiencing the call of Almighty God the Father to come into faith in Christ His Son, that they may know You, really know You and find their hope, their peace, their forgiveness of sins, coming to Salvation in Christ the Living GOD!

I pray for the outpouring of Your Holy Spirit upon the Leaders; giving divine wisdom, courage, and strength to stand when they need to stand, and be strong and put their faith in Thee, O LORD, to lead and guide them, lifting their voices and giving You the Praise and Glory of Who Thou art, recognizing their true need of You! Thank You LORD GOD how You love them so…Thy Will, will be done!

In Jesus Name, I pray…and truly Praise You and Thank You!
