Christmas Lessons From Mary: Confirmation By The Holy Spirit
Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” That simple phrase, “according to your word” released the greatest miracle ever. The same is true for us in our response to God’s promises. But I want to point out to you that it was the power of the Holy Spirit that will produce this miracle.
Talk about issues like these on The Community.
The angel said, “The Holy Spirit will conceive in your womb.” But the Holy Spirit never moved until Mary responded. When she said, “Be it to me according to your word,” she released the Holy Spirit. The point I’m making is this, we release the Holy Spirit when we respond to the word of God. The Holy Spirit is available but He doesn’t come into our lives, He doesn’t do for us what we need until we release Him through the word. Remember, don’t seek the Spirit apart from the Word, because it’s through the Word that the Spirit is released.
Let me give you just a few examples. The last verse of Mark’s gospel, Mark 16 it says: And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs.
So the signs confirmed the word. If there is no word, there is nothing for the Spirit to confirm. And then in Acts chapter 4 we have the prayer of the early church. You remember the apostles had been threatened not to teach anymore in the name of Jesus. They came together, they had a prayer meeting and it says the place where they were praying was shaken with the power of God. But notice what they prayed when they were forbidden to preach. It says in Acts 4:29:
“Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”
No spoken word, you have no guarantee where the signs and the wonders come from. Never, never, never separate the Spirit from the Word, because it is the Word that releases the Spirit.
Prayer Response:
‘Lord Jesus, our world is longing for a Saviour. It’s You they need. Give us the same boldness that you gave your apostles, especially in this Christmas season, to speak your words, by stretching out your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through your power.’

Precious God, please move in our nation. Please let this new year be the one where we truly humble ourselves and return to You.
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Mary and the apostles faced great fear and very difficult possibilities for their lives as God asked some really hard things of them. What Father was asking needed spiritual maturity. Today in the USA we have many who say they are Christians, but most of us need to take the time and effort to cultivate spiritual maturity way more than we do. We are facing difficult things, as did Mary and the apostles, that are now happening in our time. Spiritual Maturity will be needed as we stand for The Lord and His truth. It is of great importance so that God’s will can be done. Spiritual maturity is pretty much as big a need as our salvation but it tends to be neglected rather than be a priority. An important need is planning a time to read the Bible and apply its words daily. Then think and talk about what was read and pray to grow and to be closer and closer to Jesus and His example for every area of life. We need one-to-one time with the Lord as much as we need attending church. Then God can work through all of us and the Victory will come forth!! Matthew 25:21 “His Lord said to Him,’ Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord. ‘ 👍❤️🙏
Let us pray. Praise God! Praise the Holy Spirit! Praise Jesus Christ! Dear God, Our Holy Heavenly Father in Whom we give all praises and thanks to for Our Lord and Saviour: Jesus Christ. For we always know that it is by Your Providence of Spirit that we serve Your kingdom to Your Glory. We pray to serve You according to Your Purpose and Ordination with blessing and honor as we are reconciled to You as Your First Creation in Christ — equipped with every good Work/Word, deed, prayer, spiritual discipline, stewardship, and servitude in Jesus Christ! We pray to empower your holy, zealous spiritual vitality towards faith-belief virtue/volition in profession-of-faith: Jesus is Lord. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13. Rejoice in the Lord, always; and again, I say, “Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4). In Jesus Christ’s Name, we pray. Alleluia! Glory to God! Amen!🙏 God bless!😇Praise God! Praise the Holy Spirit! Praise Jesus Christ! Praise the Lord! Praise our Lord Jesus Christ! Thank you dearly in Christ! Thank you dearly in Christ for your service and protection in Christ!
Father, you said that if we pray according to your will that you hear us and if you hear us, we have whatever we ask from you. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem. We pray that you would fill your church with the Holy Spirit and boldness to preach your word. Cleanse your church to make them spotless for your return. We praise your name and thank you for forgiveness and grace.
