On Pray With America’s Leaders this week, an expert weighs in on false reports about the Chinese Church and what may be in store for America.
From CBN. A persecution watchdog is casting doubt on a recent report indicating there could be a decrease — or at least a stagnation — in the number of Christians in China.

David Curry, CEO of Global Christian Relief, an organization that helps Christians under duress around the globe, believes a Pew Research Center report on the matter likely isn’t telling the full story.
“If you believe Pew Research’s latest report, about 23.3 million adults in China self-identified as Christian in 2010,” Curry wrote in a recent Fox News piece. “That number fell to 19.9 million by 2018. That’s a decline of nearly 3.5 million Christians in less than a decade.”
Curry, though, believes there is essential context one must acknowledge when exploring these numbers. He expanded upon the narrative in a recent interview with CBN Digital. …
“The church in China, I believe, based on … some methodology of our own, is somewhere around 120 million,” Curry said, though definitive numbers are difficult to determine. …
If true, this would mean some estimates are off by almost 100 million people. One of the challenges, Curry said, is using self-identifying religious data inside a country that openly punishes Christianity and those who choose to publicly align with the faith.
“They have self-identifying as one of the factors and a number of things which make the number incredibly low,” he said. …
While the church came above ground in recent decades, the rise of Chinese President Xi Jinping has created roadblocks and problems, with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) increasingly cracking down on the faithful. …
Despite these challenges, Curry believes Christianity is, in all reality, increasing in China, with a healthy underground church continuing to grow.
“It’s under pressure … but the church of China is growing,” he said. “I think it’s healthy, despite a lot of the headwinds it’s facing right now.” …

Father be with our precious Brothers and Sisters in China. Give them strength to be bold and courageous in their community and country. I ask you to give them a plan how to know how to mobilize in their area of influences. I humbly ask you Father that they have favor before you and men that the doors of opportunity would be open for them to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Lord, please comfort the persecuted, the fatherless, the widows, the ones that gave up everything for your name sake. Father, I ask that the leaders in all stages of the Communist Party will see visions and dreams of our Lord Jesus Christ and their hearts be convicted and repent of their evilness and receive Jesus as their Savior. Lord, be with us in America to be strong and courageous and not be apathic in our walk with Jesus Christ. Strength our feebleness and help us not grow weary of doing good. May Your will be done Father. I ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ.
Lord God we as Americans pray for the Chinese people to give their hearts, minds and souls to the underground churches of Jesus Christ, who are completely against it, by the Communist government! Turn from their demonic ways and beliefs!
The title of this article prompted me to pray: “Lord, let this pressure cooker explode with Your glory and Truth over the entire country of China, bringing a revival yet unknown in the world.” Amen
I believe that God will soon show us His might and power in China just as He is doing in Israel and the Middle East. He is nearer than ever and is beginning to show Himself more and more. We must continue to pray for these countries around the world for the raising of His people in the governments, and strength to continue for the people in hiding. We need to pray that the strongholds of fear and oppression are demolished and replaced by our Father’s love and peace. Rise up you nations and declare that there is One True and Mighty Immanuel!!!

Lord, I send these Your words to Your people in China. Thank You for keeping them. Release them from the tyranny of Communism. Amen.
